Every time I see these "weapon sweeps", I am stunned that they're real. It's absolutely comical.
I'll have you know that in a criminal's hands a key like this can be as dangerous as any trench knife.

Its a key! When you stick it in people...you unlock their deaths.

... Deathkey

Sounds like a Chinese cartoon or something.

I wish they had exercised some restraint in regards to random pop culture references, and instead focused on references to other characters and phenomena in the Marvel universe. The Stewart vs. Young Prof. X thing was funny, Spice Girls references aren't.

They intentionally left out x men references because of the fucked timeline/trying to be its own thing
But they were referencing the fucked up timeline and how fucked up it was, nd that was actually funny.

"Electric Boogaloo" is a phrase seen quite often, but I don't think many people know what it's from. The source of the term is the sequel to the popular Breakdance film "Breakin'", titled "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo". Both films were produced by the film company Cannon Films, and that brings us to the subject of this thread; a hilarious documentary about the Cannon Film Group, showcasing it's absurdity, lack of taste, and the eccentric nature of the company's owners, the Israeli cousins Menahem Golan and Yorum Globus. The only real issue the documentary suffers from is that it makes the chronology of events somewhat confusing, but that's a minor issue.

Now, I must warn you, the documentary is highly explicit, containing scenes from some of the sleaziest movies of the 80's. However, the sheer hilarity of the situations and people described was funny enough for me to disregard the sexually explicit content. The documentary is available on Netflix, and I highly recommend you guys check it out.

She has to be willing to wear replica Imperial German military uniforms and/or a dirndl.

She has to be a supporter of the Galactic Empire.

She has to be of the same faith as me.

She has to be pretty. Preferably with short (around mid-neck length) hair.

She has to be willing to have long conversations about history.

She has to be accepting of an orderly and somewhat regimented lifestyle. I've had to deal with too much messiness and disorganization in my life.

Photo of what is in all likelihood the Rogue One Vader.

Robes should be over the upper chest armor, and the stitching on the gloves should run perpendicular to the suit's stitching.

« on: February 14, 2016, 08:37:25 PM »
I'd like to see a collaboration between Taylor Swift and Rammstein.

Think about it. Swift in black tactical boots, pants, and a zip-up tactical vest, her arms smeared with engine grease. She's wearing matte black lipstick, a hairnet and/or a Stahlhelm, and she's wielding a forearm-mounted flamethrower on each arm. If we're going all-out, then throw in a couple bright white LED's surgically implanted inside of her mouth. It'd be hilarious.

Discuss.

Style by Taylor Swift.

I have no idea why I like her music, it doesn't make any sense! The only other genres I listen to are synthesizer and orchestral film soundtracks, and German Metal.

People hate the Star Wars fanbase? I always thought that the SW fanbase was rather unobtrusive because SW has such broad appeal; just about everyone likes it and can take part in the discussion.

Now something like MLP, which is very, very niche, usually has a wrose reputation; most people aren't insane and therefore don't like it, thus MLP discussion annoys them.

I thought you said this was going to be a history thread, not gobbling up wienerschnitzel.

As an extremely devout Lutheran, Bismarck would never consent to having his wiener gobbled by another man.

Why do we laud people for trickery and cunning instead of patience and compassion?

Because in the case of Bismarck, such trickery and cunning is fucking awesome .

And I thought you were of the opinion that women were superior because they were essentially more vindictive and cruel?

I'd like to start a series of threads, to be created on a whenever-the-fuck-I-want basis, about various historical events and figures. History is my academic and personal passion, and I would like to express that here. I understand that in all likelihood no-one here will care or possibly even read these threads, but I am apathetic towards such indifference.

To kick off these threads, I would like to cover one of my favorite historical figures, and potentially my favorite European statesman in history; the mighty Iron Chancellor, Otto von Bismarck. The man who forged the German Empire through the expert usage of extraordinary cunning, and incredible foresight.

Bismarck is truly one of the most cunning statesmen in history. His realpolitik is brilliant in it's ruthless pragmatism. Indeed, I would say I love Bismarck because he's so damn dastardly. The man was an unparalleled manipulator; he carefully manipulates events and circumstances in order to orchestrate three wars: the Danish Prussian war (1864), the Seven Weeks' War (1866), and finally, the Franco-Prussian War of 1871, which ended with the German Empire, a united Germany, being declared within the Palace of Versailles itself. A final declaration of German supremacy over French idiocy.

How did Bismarck start that final conflict? The magnificent bastard edited a telegram (documenting a discussion between the King of Prussia and the French ambassador), in order to make it look as though each of the parties in the conversation had insulted one another, with anger in the national scale occurring on both sides. The French, in their arrogance, declared war, and in response Prussia, the rest of the German states rallying behind them, mobilized it's army. The French force was crushed by the superior Prussian army.

I'm not going to go too in depth; I have other things to do, and late 19th century politics can be a rather complicated subject. Thus, I will leave you with a link to a helpful resource, and Bismarck's most famous quote.

Here is list of all episodes of BBC radio's stellar radio series, Germany: Memories of a Nation. In regards to Bismarck, I would recommend Bismarck The Blacksmith, but all episodes are wonderful. In particular, Luther and a Language for All Germans is a wonderful, informative, and short listen.

And finally, here's the final segment of Bismarck's famous speech:

"The position of Prussia in Germany will not be determined by its liberalism but by its power ... Prussia must concentrate its strength and hold it for the favorable moment, which has already come and gone several times. Since the treaties of Vienna, our frontiers have been ill-designed for a healthy body politic. Not through speeches and majority decisions will the great questions of the day be decided - that was the great mistake of 1848 and 1849 - but by iron and blood (Eisen und Blut)."
