The Flood / How's my essay?« on: October 05, 2014, 08:10:13 PM »
EDIT: FUCK YEAH I GOT A 100!
So, I had to write a DBQ (document based question) essay for my AP Euro class, in which I had to analyze the cause of and responses to the German Peasants' Revolts of 1524-1526. Interested as to what you guys think. Edit: Regarding this "plagiarism software" I'm pretty you guys are referring to turning in assignments online using a system other than Google Drive, and I also think it's important to note that this is for high school. I have never heard students nor teachers mention any plagiarism software similar to that which you guys speak of. Quote The German Peasants’ Revolts were a series of revolts occurring from 1524-1526 in which peasants ran amok throughout the German states, with some groups converging on the town of Memmingen, Swabia, to form a Peasant Parliament and voice their grievances in the Twelve Articles of the Swabian Peasants. The revolts were caused by religious teachings and abuse inflicted by lords, and were responded to with support, as well as condemnation. 303

I know I haven't spoken with you a lot in comparison to others, but I don't feel as though that really matters.
Sandtrap, I am so sorry. l, and I'm sure everyone here, wishes there was something we could do. But the truth is there isn't much I, or others can do, except pray. Now, I know that some of the more... "Vocal" members of the community may not take kindly to this, but I don't care. Every little bit counts. Sandtrap, I just wanted to know that I'm praying for you, man. I hope you get better and make an amazing recovery. 306

The Flood / Otto von Bismarck: Master Troll« on: September 05, 2014, 04:26:28 PM »Quote Bismarck received a telegram from Bad Ems (the Ems telegram) giving a detailed account of the interview between William I and the French ambassador, which he proceeded to edit and abridge for the press in such a way that the French appeared to seek a humiliation of the Prussian monarch, and the monarch’s rejection of Napoleon’s demands seemed insultingly brusque to the French. The French responded by declaring war on Prussia on July 19, 1870. When the French were decisively defeated at Sedan in September, it appeared as though Bismarck would be able to score a third rapid victory in seven years. But guerrilla warfare broke out, and Paris held out despite the capture of the emperor. Bismarck, however, stirred anti-French passions to such a fever pitch that in January 1871 the four southern states joined the North German Confederation to create the German Empire Hue. Bismarck is one of my favorite figures in history. 311

Here's his channel.
I like it so far. While it is quite derivative of the original series, I find that it has the charm that the original series lost after season 4. Personally, I really hope he continues to create new episodes, but they've been put on hold, as he doesn't have the original Joyride Halo 2 figures. I just thought that you guys might want to know, and I wanted to help this guy out by at least giving him slightly more exposure. 314
The Flood / Legalize Deathsticks.« on: August 24, 2014, 01:48:11 PM »Deathsticks are completely harmless, and pose no health risks whatsoever. Those who say the opposite have obviously been brainwashed by conservative HoloNet programs. Besides, even if they were harmful, what a sentient being does to their own body is their business. Furthermore, legalizing deathsticks would create a profitable new industry to boost the galactic economy. So be reasonable, and support the legalization of deathsticks. Now, go home, and rethink your position on the matter. 315

The Flood / ITT: Complain about your life« on: August 22, 2014, 12:47:06 AM »
Complain about the unfortunate circumstances in your life.
For example: Today I realized that my hopes and dreams are just delusions of grandeur, and I have very little going for me in life. I haven't gone to, or been invited to, hang out with anyone in three years, and I even have extreme difficulty socializing and reaching out to my own family. Despite my skill in writing I hate doing it, and the only thing I really enjoy is history. German isn't going well, as I've been slacking off. So yeah, complain. 319

Gaming / My brief review of "Dishonored"« on: August 19, 2014, 11:19:36 PM »
"Dishonored" was recently made free for those subscribing to Microsoft's "Xbox Network Premium" service. As I had not previously played the game, I purchased it.
"Disgraced" is a first person shooter with JRPG elements. Set in a fantasized version of the middle ages, you play as the treasure hunter turned mercenary, Corpo Latino. Framed for killing the King, and engaging in (consensual) sexual relations with the Empress' daughter, Corpus must fight through hordes of Imperialist Nazis on a quest for revenge. There are some obvious plot holes, from the very beginning. The one I will mention has to do with the "rat infection". The colony where the game is set suffers from a mysterious ailment, which the Emperor endlessly strives to cure. However, the "plague" is just a horde of mice that run around murdering people. If they want to cure it, why don't they just kill the rats? The gameplay is mediocre, with many quick time events. Furthermore, the game is terribly inconsistent. It tells me to avoid killing people, but gives me a sword and bow and arrow? Great logic, guys. Overall, the game is just a reskin of "Grave Robber", but with a far less interesting protagonist than Laurel Kraft. 1/10. 322

The Flood / What I Want to See in Star Wars Episode VII« on: August 17, 2014, 05:20:49 PM »
I want to see a "Stormtroopers in training" scene. Specifically, I want to see a Stormtrooper drill Sergeant.
The Drill Sarge would be clad in a battered set of the old stormtrooper armor, and be played by none other than R. Lee Erney. R. Lee Trooper would berate recruits, in the typical R. Lee Erney fashion, and would loudly question: "WERE YOU AT ENDOR RECRUIT??? HOTH??? DID YOU SEE THE DEATH AND DEVASTATION FIRSTHAND??? I DIDN'T THINK SO!!!" So there you have it, that's what I want in Episode VII. 324
The Flood / Leaked Episode VII Stormtrooper Helmet« on: August 16, 2014, 12:39:08 PM »Left is an actual prop, right is a render. I myself am quite pleased with it. It pays homage to the original design, while still appearing much more sleek. Now, there's no official confirmation that these are real, but given that the photo on the left is an actual, physical helmet, and there appear to be multiple helmets behind it, I'd say it looks legitimate. 325

The Flood / Is something wrong with me?« on: August 12, 2014, 01:36:08 PM »
I hate sexuality, and the act of sexual intercourse. I find it to be disgusting, and I see it as a way of using people. That isn't to say I don't find myself attracted to people, I just abhor the idea of sexual intercourse.
I've stated this to others on this forum, and they just came to the conclusion that I was roleplaying as Rorschach. While Rorschach is a character I admire and agree with on a variety of issues, I'm not roleplaying as him. I just empathize with him, as he reminds me of myself in certain ways. Mind you, I'm not asking to be "fixed". I embrace this dislike of sexuality, and will continue to do so. It makes me feel good about myself, and I don't want to lose that feeling. 330
