There are 3 characters on each side who are either directly from Awakening (Nohr) or act and look like Awakening characters (Hoshido). Its not done out of laziness or recycling character skins. Its meant to be a kind of treat. Nohr gets Inigo, Severa, and Owain (who passes his mark down to his daughter). While Hoshido gets child units that are clones of Gaius, Cordelia, and Tharja. What's funny is evidently Severa can end up being the mother of the Cordelia clone (probably through the neutral game) and she'll comment on how much they look alike. (Cordelia being Severa's mother in Awakening)
