I fucking hated it... Halo 2 really tightened it for me.

But (heh) no, on consoles I just hated Halo 1's combat. Like, I didn't mind gun wise, but the melee was shit, as well as the vehicle driving. Nothing felt like it had weight or power to it.
Somebody needs a hand holding when hitting aliens, it seems.
