Oh look, it's the Republicans that scream about state's rights...fighting against state's rights...
gg
Not really. The executive branch has pretty much flat out said they're not enforcing marijuana laws anymore, though the legislative branch refuses to repeal the federal law. It's more of an issue that the federal government has this law on its books that it's not enforcing, when it should in fact be a state issue from the start. The two states are pissed that weed from Colorado is flowing into their own cities because the federal government refuses to enforce their own laws, and also refuses to actually delegate the power to regulate it to the states. It's a legitimate complaint. Belief in the benefits of distributing more power to the states is not mutually exclusive from believing the federal government should do its fucking job or let the states handle the issue.

Can't states nullify a federal law if they deem it as unconstitutional?
Absolutely not. The Supremacy Clause dictates that federal law supersedes state law. So while it may be legal in the state of Colorado to buy and sell marijuana, it's still a federal crime.

Those abilities look oddly similar to those in Destiny.

When it came out it was groundbreaking. Amazing scenery, radiant AI, a world of unprecedented scale, and Patrick Stewart. Yeah the combat was clunky but it was leaps and bounds ahead of Morrowind, which I still consider my favorite game of all time. I also really liked the Oblivion gates, and while there could have been more variety I thought they introduced a really interesting alternative to the typical TES dungeons.

Glitches were one of the reasons why it had such a consistently massive online community.

And they are both video games so I don't see why the characters motives have to be morally sound. Video games are virtual play grounds and shouldn't be limited to only guys with good intentions. You're correct, and it can be really interesting narrative-wise when a character is evil and you're basically forced to go along with evil acts, a la GTA. It seems like the only reason you support GabeN's decision is because it spites Tumblr and other SJW-bullshit complaints. Like I said, DC is welcome to complete the game and release it, I just find it disagreeable that Valve would choose to endorse a game like Hatred. In a capitalist economy, companies have every right to deny support for whatever they choose. You're absolutely out of your mind if you think this game does any good for the industry which is already lambasted as hyper-violent and crime-inducing; refusing to greenlight this was a good step towards showing that gamers aren't mindless violence junkies after all.

Gotta make Halo 2 my #1 simply because it had the best online experience I've ever had in 10 years of playing online.

My full support goes Verbatim here.
Strange feeling, huh? Minus the vulgarity though Yeah, I'm in a bad mood today.

Okay mate. There's no objective to CoD's MP besides killing other people. There's no objective to Hatred besides killing people. I distinctly remember there being several other objectives, like planting/disarming bombs and capturing objectives. In addition, the multiplayer is set up as a war between the two factions from the campaign. Not to mention that both sides are organized, uniformed soldiers with military training and weapons, willingly engaging each other, whereas Hatred is some trenchcoat-wearing motherfucker shooting up public places because he hates them. The fact that that has to be spelled out is incredible. I know you understand the differences, you're just refusing to acknowledge them because 'muh censorship' nonsense. But hey, continue to be a retard that's in favour of censoring creative freedom.
This isn't about censorship, it's about Valve not endorsing a game that conflicts with common decency. Destructive Creations are welcome to publish it themselves. (Posted by Sly-Something)
For one, you and the interest groups against the game aren't the supreme authority on what games can and can't be made. They're free to make the game. I have no problem with that. I'm talking about Steam standing up for a standard of quality requisite to being greenlit, then backing down because of keyboard warriors bitching about censorship.

Just wondering if you guys are legitimately retarded because you can't distinguish between Hatred and any other shooter.
The sole purpose of CoD's MP is to kill people, same with BF and Halo's MP. REMOVE THEM REMOVE THEM REMOVE THEM REMOVE THEM!!!
Like I asked the other gentleman: are you retarded? If you are, I sincerely apologize. That explains your severe inability to use critical thinking to recognize a difference between CoD and Hatred. The fact that you conflate enemy soldiers fighting each other (not that MP is canon) with slaughtering civilians for fun, literally the entire point of the game, makes a lot more sense knowing that you are, in fact, mentally handicapped and not capable of higher reasoning. I'm not in favor of removing it because it upsets people; why would that matter? I'm in favor of Valve having some balls and refusing to greenlight a game that has zero artistic or narrative value.

It's not censorship. Steam has zero responsibility to endorse games it doesn't support, for whatever reason. Deciding not to host a disgusting game about murdering people just for the sake of murdering them was a bold statement, and I fully supported it. Shit. I guess we better take down all games that involve killing then. Bye bye CoD. Bye bye GTA. Bye bye Halo. Bye bye Battlefield. Bye bye the vast majority of the video game industry.
Deciding not to host a disgusting game about murdering people just for the sake of murdering them was a bold statement, and I fully supported it. That's pretty much the point to every shooter multiplayer so we might as well ban those too right? Killing enemy players just for the heck of it.
Just wondering if you guys are legitimately retarded because you can't distinguish between Hatred and any other shooter.

GabeN backing down and apologizing doesn't make him the champion of free speech, it just makes him seem like a little bitch that is afraid of upsetting devs. This game is bad for the industry.

How likely is something like this to threaten humanity's survival?
what is it?
Yellowstone. I couldn't find any other pictures I liked or didn't have weird quirks (like comic sans on predicted national ash falls in the event of an eruption). It would be a bad day for earth, and the fallout in political and economic spheres could be devastating. The environment would suffer global nuclear winter to varying extents, but we'd all feel it.
Yellowstone is at least 10,000 years away from erupting.

Did you have fun playing it?
Absolutely. I went 3 straight games with 30+ kills.
If you had fun then I'd say it's succeeding in its goal.

Referring to my previous thread about my thesis, I completed my entire honors thesis in a single night
That's just so strange to me. It'd be completely impossible to do something like that here.
It should have been impossible here, too. It wasn't as extensive as I wanted, but it for approved.
How long was it?
32 pages total.
Damn. That's impressive for one night. Not sure if I could've done the same. It'd still be impossible to do your thesis here in one night though. 150 pages is about average, plus you need dozens of hours in the library doing research.
What was your subject?
Using industrial engineering techniques to optimize human performance. 150 pages is ridiculous for an engineering thesis. There's no subject that requires that much work just for 6 credits worth of work. It's an optional undergraduate thesis, not a master's thesis.

Back in middle school my friends made gamertags with "Hurtful" and a different bird. We had HurtfulEagle, HurtfulOsprey, HurtfulFalcon, and a couple others I think. I thought it'd be funny to do one less serious so I chose 'Turkey', and it's stuck ever since.
My avatar is from that same group in Halo 2, we all used this emblem with different color schemes.
God we were losers.
Ha, the "hurtful" clan.
Spoiler We were the Hurtful Birdies.

First of all, from whom do you get your income? Is it from your views? You gotta ask yourself whether you owe it to your viewers to deliver unbiased reviews. Because whether you disclose or not, accepting the game for free from the developer will bias your results.
Personally, I think it's unethical. If I were coming to you repeatedly for game reviews, I wouldn't consider the review reliable if it had been given to you by the dev.
You realize devs send out review copies for free allllll the time to tons of people? If you read a review online, chances are the reviewer didn't pay for the game
Okay, and their reviews are biased. Lots of reviews are essentially bought. A lot of times reviewers are given copies by their employers or are reimbursed for their purchases. When it comes to more independent reviews, I value their integrity even more, since they likely don't have a well-known reputation.

I'm happy to share that today I submitted my final assignment for my undergraduate degree (B.S.E. in Industrial Engineering at Arizona State University).
Referring to my previous thread about my thesis, I completed my entire honors thesis in a single night and defended it this afternoon. I'm not sure whether I'm proud or embarrassed about writing the entire thing in one evening, but taking 21 credits in your final year, including a senior design project, was a terrible idea.
I'm pretty excited it's over. Next week is graduation, commissioning into the Navy (flight school sometime in the spring), and getting married. Shit's crazy.
Anyways, congratulations to the folks wrapping up their semesters with hopefully passing grades!

I firmly believe in hierarchy, but that also confers responsibility.
Police officers who fuck up should absolutely be punished more heavily than citizens for crimes they commit, and sergeants more than constables.
Initially the police were doing everything fine, it was until he said he couldn't breath that things went overboard
You mean until the officer performed a restraining move banned by the NYPD.
Now that's a BIG misconception. New York bans chokeholds, what the officer was trying to do was perform a seat belt takedown where the arm goes around the chest like a seat-belt would. A chokehold is where the crevice/bending part of your arm goes directly in the front/middle of your throat; the video doesn't show a chokehold
The officer should have realized that he's far too small to perform such a maneuver on a tall, morbidly obese man.
That move is great on big guys because it knocks them out in seconds. Trying to overpower him would have been exactly the wrong move. Either way, he died from laying on his chest and have his airway restricted due to pressure on his head, not from the restraint (not a chokehold).

The homicide finding indicates that Tamir was killed by the police officer, rather than dying accidentally or by natural causes or by suicide. Um...no shit? There's video evidence of the cop shooting him. Homicide means Rice was killed by another person. It doesn't mean murder.

pain
no one else is spoiler-ing the videos to prevent slowdown, so what difference does it make if i don't
Goddamn. Reading the title alone caused me to look away. For some reason that's one of the most painful things I've seen in these types of threads.
