In what ways does it perform bad?
I'm putting off finishing my trilogy playthrough (I'm at Priority: Thessia and I just don't want to) but I'm planning on playing Andromemes once I'm done (gamesharing = free game). I'm interested if there's anything worth noting before starting.
Most notably: almost constant stuttering and framerate drops that significantly interferes with combat and movement.

Played a bit of ME:A from redbox and figured I'd rather buy it on PC because of the awful console performance. I know it used to be pretty easy to transfer save data over but I can't figure it out presently. Anyone know how?

Apparently it's been made canon that Rex survives and they retconned some extra from RotJ to be his character (bearded dude): And we know Hera is alive in Rogue One. But I really can't see how Kanan or Ezra will make it seeing as they (or any other jedi) aren't mentioned in any new canon.

It's a tricky one, but with rentals I think the difference is that the game has been licensed by the retailer to rent out
They don't though. There's no license to rent games.

So, as for why I can enjoy Zelda but not Miyzaki movies? There's quite a few reasons, but the main reason is because Zelda engages me as a player and active participant in the game's story, and that's inherently exciting to me. It's harder to get that feeling from a movie, much less an anime, because you have to utilize a few subtle techniques to give the illusion of interactivity--techniques that I don't really feel are present in Miyazaki's works. Without even subtly implying any sort of racism, is it possible that the cultural differences between protagonists is what drives you away from anime? What I mean is that Japan has such a wildly different set of cultural norms and stories that you experience an almost uncanny valley-like response to the way anime characters interact, whereas in video games you're much more free to interact (or interpret scripted responses) how you see fit. I think this is what drives my dislike for a lot of anime, and I wonder if it does the same for you. Maybe it's the absurdity of anime -- from a western perspective -- that turns you off to it, which isn't really present in video games because you decide what your character does and feels. Also, I fucking love The Goonies.

It's super weird seeing you laud Breath of the Wild while simultaneously saying Ghibli movies are "too safe". BotW is one of the most heavily anime-influenced games in the series, with the characterization and storytelling elements feeling ripped directly from a typical shonen, right down to the character archetypes. As for Ghibli films being safe, Miyazaki himself admits that all of his films are made for kids, with the exception of The Wind Rises (one of my favorite films) -- though creatively, they've all pushed boundaries. Grave of the Fireflies really is fantastic, though.

So three bros were hanging out one day, and one of them said, "I think I've got the smallest hands in the world," and he went to the Guinness Book of World Records and came back smiling, with the record for world's smallest hands. The second guy says, "I think I've got the smallest feet in the world," and he also goes to the Guinness Book of World Records and earns the record for smallest feet. The third guy says, "I think I've got the smallest penis in the world," and he heads off to the Guinness Book of World Records to claim his title. After his visit, he comes back to the other two and with disappointment on his face asks, "who the hell is this guy?"

the fact that airlines can overbook planes on purpose sickens me. the employees can go fuck themselves, they can catch the next flight, those people paid and should be expected to go to their destinations without any repercussions. in this case, no one should be kicked off just because of an error in booking.
Okay picture the scenario
Do we inconvenience four people here on this one flight because we fucked up, or do we inconvenience an entire flight elsewhere because four pilots that need transferred to Louisville are stuck in Chicago?
the airliner shouldnt be overbooking in the first place
It's a statistically sound practise and pretty much never backfires like this, though. OT: a dude with a gun hands me $800 and tells me to catch the next flight? You got it bro.

It's due to a popular Oatmeal comic that spiraled into Tesla being a liberal scientist icon and Edison being a capitalist thief who stole all of his work.

I also am shocked to hear Shinkai himself tell people not to go see his own movie. Yeah the people comparing him to Miyazaki are being ridiculous because they're both completely different in styles, but that doesn't mean his movies aren't just as good.
Seems like typical Japanese humility. They throw compliments back and self deprecate as a social norm. I sincerely doubt he meant most of what he said there. That said, comparisons to Miyazaki really are too generous. The animation is good but he has a long way to go in terms of writing and storytelling.

I completely forgot about it and haven't even seen it yet. What is the most interesting thing about the movie? Least?
How did you come up with your score?
Most: animation style Least: the use of particular anime storytelling tropes that I won't get into for spoiler reasons Score: It's mostly arbitrary. I start at a 5/10 and try to add or subtract based on what I liked or didn't like. It was a beautifully animated movie, had a compelling story and characters, and despite having a fairly run of the mill body-swapping concept, it executed it in a unique and interesting way. Cons are that the music was generic anime fare, and the ending was stretched quite a bit, which is common in Mokoto Shinkai's movies, apparently.
What might convince me to see this movie before Garden of Words? Do you have a preference between the two? I haven't seen either of them yet.
Haven't seen that, but my wife recommends it. The biggest reason to see it now is because you'll get to see it in theaters and support the studio via ticket sales.

Watching a walkthrough makes playing Undertale redundant, yes. Since you've only seen the important bits it might still be worth your while to play it, since there's loads of little amusing side bits, jokes and references.
I fail to see how your response addresses the thread topic
I may not have understood what the topic is, then. You asked, "If you know Undertale's story, is it worth playing?", and I said "yes" and explained why. What else should I have said?
I think this is relevant to both of your responses:
I'm not asking whether or not watching the walkthrough obviates playing through a loss of novelty (although it's an interesting point I've considered), I'm asking whether the very notion of story as a selling point justifies investment in a medium distinguished by play, or if that even really matters in the context of gaming and why it does/doesn't.
There are a lot of optional experiences in the game. You may sort of know the characters or the story, but you haven't experienced a narrative of your own. Even if someone made the same broad choices as I did, I wouldn't consider them identical playthroughs. Video games as a medium provide a personal context for the story that is absent from other narrative mediums. And the gameplay itself is fun enough to ignore the abstract storytelling the game utilizes.

8/10, go see it if you can tolerate anime. It's beautifully animated. The dub is standard Funimation crew.

I'm confused how you know what happens without having played it. Did you watch a Let's Play of it? Because the experience is much more than a plot synopsis.
Yes, Undertale is worth playing.

Crafting is actually good.
It can be. Recently it's become filler for a lot of games. It's particularly dull in ME:A.

Because who doesn't love stopping gameplay to sort through menus and meaningless resources to unlock equipment that could have been more organically received in a well-paced story structure?
The fact that I'm playing ME:A may or may not have anything to do with this.

Businesses that rent out games probably have a license or something so they're authorised to be providing that kind of service, renting from said business is therefore no problem.
Nope, no license is needed to rent or trade games, and publishers never see a dime from any licensing. As far as I know it's just an accepted gray area that nobody has tried to pursue.

Conflicted on whether or not I should go fight Ganon now. I kinda wanted to go after all the shrines and I feel like there's plenty of stuff I haven't found, but at this point I'm just wandering around the map trying to find things to do, and I feel like I'm OP as fuck.
If you haven't explored the castle, that's an adventure in its own right. But by all means, go fight Ganon and just continue playing from the save right before.

Like I said before--I'm okay if the pub and devs don't make a profit as long as someone's palms are crossed with silver for the one copy, legally. The original copy was already paid for, just as Psy said, and now it's just trading hands, which is perfectly fine. Producing multiple copies without permit is probably the bigger issue.
On the other hand, an incorporated business isn't a requirement to sell or trade things; Craigslist and eBay are two examples of private selling mediums that are perfectly legal. And if, as I asked in the OP, pirates paid some sort of nominal fee (or maybe not even nominal; what if alternatives to Steam sold cracked game keys for competitive prices, like $30 for new games), would that justify it? Is the simple act of a transaction enough to eliminate the moral issues? I think the bigger issue here is that used sales and rentals involve a single copy trading hands (and a rental is more or less like a repeated used sale), rather than a pirated version being highly distributed. But there's just something off about retailers making money off the sale of used or rented games. Surely anyone that copied or distributed any other form of IP for profit would be smacked with a lawsuit.

If you rent a game, you paid to play it for a short time. If you buy a used game, you still paid to play it but someone else paid to play it first.
But you don't pay to play it; the publishers (and developers) get nothing from rentals or used sales. If you feel this way, how would you respond to my question about paying a nominal fee for a pirated copy?
Someone also had to buy a copy, so they could make a copy of it and distribute it out.
Yes, just like a store had to buy a copy to rent or sell new the first time. So is that initial purchase justification for pirated copies just like it is for rentals and used games? Is the justification in the scale of the distribution, i.e., one purchased copy may be pirated thousands of times, whereas a single rental disc may only be used a handful of times? At that point, when does rental becoming piracy -- 20 times, 50, 100, etc.? What if a user buys a game, uploads it, and it's only downloaded once?

To be clear, I agree pretty much entirely with you; I'm trying to work this out in my own head, too. All of them provide one common service: providing me with a valuable product, and that to me is worth money.
Same question.
