I even included them in my post but took them out because they're not worth mentioning, and this evades the point. Magic users' primary means of damage is safe; melee users' is not.Melee is usually regarded as harder because you actually have to roll/block things, where as mage you take things out from a distance. 607

Any damage that can be done to an enemy without being hazardously close to it is an advantage melee players don't have. Of course magic users sometimes get in close, the difference is that a quality or strength build will never get that advantage. It's an intrinsically easier playstyle, but that doesn't mean it's not difficult or respectable. 608

What do yall think: will Jack go back in time and defeat Aku or will he defeat him in the present and remain there? I feel like going back in time would invalidate most of the series.

The Flood / Re: What book are you currently reading or finished recently?« on: April 29, 2017, 03:25:46 PM »I get that the whole bit is reincarnation and how two souls touch time and again over the course of many lifetimes, but what really is the point? Why does a novel need more of a philosophical point beyond creating a unique narrative about intertwining souls and struggles? From the author (wikipedia): Quote Literally all of the main characters, except one, are reincarnations of the same soul in different bodies throughout the novel identified by a birthmark...that's just a symbol really of the universality of human nature. The title itself "Cloud Atlas," the cloud refers to the ever changing manifestations of the Atlas, which is the fixed human nature which is always thus and ever shall be. So the book's theme is predacity, the way individuals prey on individuals, groups on groups, nations on nations, tribes on tribes. So I just take this theme and in a sense reincarnate that theme in another context... Quote What, philisophically, was I supposed to take away from Cloud Atlas? The book focuses on how characters confront injustice. It displays overt acts of oppression beside subtle, even humorous acts. Timothy Cavendish and Sonmi-451 mirror each other, but Mitchell uses their vastly different stories to attack it from multiple angles. I can't tell you what you, personally, should take away from the story, but it made me consider more deeply whether I am complicit in oppression of others -- I am -- and to what extent I can tolerate it. 610

Gaming / Re: Dark Souls (FUCKING ANGELS AND THEIR LAZER BEAMS)« on: April 28, 2017, 01:52:16 PM »So you're rolling an overleveled, poised-as-fuck quality build with broken weapons and you're complaining that it's easy...? Part of Dark Souls' appeal is the option to have self-imposed difficulty, or make the game super easy by using easy builds. Regardless, I wouldn't expect any part of a Souls game to be difficult for experienced players. I personally enjoy pyro the most because of its mix of short range magic and melee. 616
Gaming / Re: Dark Souls (FUCKING ANGELS AND THEIR LAZER BEAMS)« on: April 28, 2017, 01:30:29 PM »But legitimately. I'm playing as a melee buld for the first time, and I dont get how anyone thinks this is any harder or more skilled than playing mage. I literaly just stunlock everything to death with no effort. The only thing that's even a threat is the few enemies that do dark damage. If anything my melee playthrough has been easier than any other that iv'e done. High Poise and the stone ring break the PvE of this game essentially. Are you starting over from SL1, or did you just respec? Because I'd argue that melee builds are much more difficult at lower levels when you can't absorb tons of damage and quickly kill enemies. At low levels, pyro and magic allow you to kite and kill at range, which is drastically easier. 617

tbh Chally I don't even know why you're arguing whether every single person should enjoy higher graphical quality. There will obviously be contrarians or true art aficionados such as Verb that will disagree, because enjoyment and art truly are subjective.

Gaming / Re: specs don't matter you silly bitch LMAO« on: April 27, 2017, 10:56:52 AM »Most cars are designed for commercial purposes exclusively. That's anti-art. Most games are designed for commercial purposes. Most art is also made to be consumed, even if freely (though I'd go so far as to say that most artists demand compensation for the consumption of their work, and that doesn't diminish artistic quality at all). You've got this very condescending view of art, as if you understand it better than anyone. 621
Gaming / Re: specs don't matter you silly bitch LMAO« on: April 26, 2017, 10:42:42 PM »No, I wouldn't, but your proposition is missing the word "most." I wouldn't say it is. You could make your game using old technology, resulting in lower quality graphics than par for the time; if users deliberately lowered that graphical quality, or were otherwise inhibited from experiencing your content at the precise quality you intended, I imagine you would not be satisfied. Or maybe you would be, to spite me. Anyways, the whole thing seems to be reflective of your stance that games should be experienced on its default difficulty setting, as that is what the developers intended. 622
Gaming / Re: specs don't matter you silly bitch LMAO« on: April 26, 2017, 10:12:48 PM »
Verb, would you disagree that developers -- the artists -- want their art to be experienced at the highest possible graphical quality?

For a game like Breath of the Wild, I would have really liked better specs on the Switch or Wii U because it launched with blurry textures, huge framerate drops in towns and combat, bad pop-in, and embarrassing draw distances.
