Did people actually expect a warm and fuzzy feeling at the end of this?

Just saw it and it was bad. Prometheus was fine, because it left the aliens a mystery while explaining a tiny bit of the engineers. This did the opposite.

Me on b.net on my first playthrough:
Quote
Finished up DkS1 last night, and I wasn't too impressed. The last of the four souls I collected was from the Bed of Chaos, so the last few hours of the game for me were the Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith.
Demon Firesage was easy as shit, Centipede Demon was easy as shit (except for some framerate trouble from the lava), and the Ceaseless Discharge literally kills itself. The Bed of Chaos wasn't even a boss fight, you just have to whack three things with your sword. Then all that's left is Gwyn, right? He was no harder than a typical black knight, and he went down with 5 fireballs. For basically everything being demons born from fire, or in Gwyn's case the 'Lord of Cinder', they all go down easy from pyromancy.
Anyways, it was a great game and I enjoyed the fights, it was just a bit disappointing to breeze through the last levels and curbstomp all the bosses. Even the infamous Tomb of Giants was easy.

What a fucking faggot I was.

Does Gwyn actually die from 5 fireballs?

Not fireballs, but whatever the strongest pyro attack is, and Gwyn is weak to fire. I was probably overleveled for NG though.

MovieBob tore it up for trying to cash in on building a mythos and canonical story, as if Alien and Aliens were some holy, virginal films that could never be touched or explored. I loved Prometheus, even as it was only tangentially related to Alien. I hope they continue making varied films, since the Alien franchise's biggest draw is its use of a simple horror concept, explored in many different genres. A:C looks a bit too similar to Prometheus to be a different genre, but w/e.

It's amazing how spot-on the Orville trailer was. This doesn't look very good, but I'll give it a shot.

I don't think we should really be politicizing rape by accusing "the left" or "the right" about having certain notions about rape.

I didn't really mean to. I often use this forum as a sounding board for the extremely liberal ideas of some of my friends.

Many on the grassroots Left have shifted towards a position of always -- barring extreme absurdity -- siding with an accuser making claims of sexual assault, particularly when that accuser is a woman (or a POC), and even more so when the accused assailant is a celebrity. A recent example, and why I bring this up now, involves a member of PWR BTTM, and previously another similar complaint against a member of Swans.

The point of this inherent trust in the supposed victim is to help counter the positions of power that celebrities, white people, and men have over others. The validity of that power is not the point of this thread. What I'd ask is if you think it's a good thing to trust and be responsive to victims' claims, and whether you see that as contrary to the principle of innocence until guilt is proven, or if it's possible to not only support a supposed victim and the accused person. Is the act of vocally trusting the victim's claim potentially defamatory for the accused, and does that even matter?

Destiny was fun, but only after the two whole years it took to fix.
Did they fix it being a grindey mess though?

There are new additions. Read my post above.

I suppose "significant" is subjective, but no new classes, enemies, weapon types, or missions (distinct from raids or strikes) were announced. PVP had only a single gametype added. For a series whose biggest fault is a lack of diversity in the content it provides, this is a really disappointing announcement. Maybe all that will come later, but you'd think they'd lead with that stuff.

It legit sounds like an improvement, though. The gunplay, animations, and interface were never the issue. Even the repeated enemy types were varied and fun. It was the completely bullshit story structure of 1. fight through waves 2. press button, and the lack of endgame content beyond grinding for pointless gear. Hopefully this is treated as a soft reboot, though the apparent lack of any significant additions is kind of weird. No announcement of new classes or weapon types is disappointing. I'm glad it's finally on PC.

I think the game was worth the full price, but it had a lot of room for improvement. The open world is shockingly bland, the enemies are pretty boring until much later in the game, the plot is your typical "AI struggles with humanity" story, but with a lame anime flavor to it. The repetitive mission structure was meant to be innovative but felt like filler. It was decent fun, but I don't see why so many critics are losing their minds over it. I'd like to see a story about AI that isn't just them dealing with wanting human emotions.
was 2B's butt censored in your game or something

Fuck I need to play this game. Guys where am I supposed to go after killing Shenmue 2 and leaving the desert?
Elaborate?
I killed the long haired guy boss in the desert and went back to the resistance camp, but nobody's giving me any quests. Where do I go?

The map always gives you your current destination.
I'll check again but from what I could tell I have no quest markers or destination.

iirc you have to go back to the bunker at this point.

I'm not sure episode 9 would have had the same weight without their romance, and the levity of episode 8 really helped drive home how dangerous it was for Jack to open up like that.

I imagine I'd be an obnoxious anti-cannibal for a while before deciding to lay low about it when it became clear there was no hope for changing their minds.

Hell, I believe abortion is literally the same as killing a child or adult, but I'm not burning down abortion clinics or proselytizing here anymore. That's also the reason I don't joke about vegans. I respect their moral fortitude, I just don't sympathize with them. I'm sure you've experienced a similar defeatist attitude about your many counter-culture ideals.

Anyway, do you have any particular recommendations, OP? I'm currently reading the Expanse novels but I'm nearly done with them.

For sci-fi? I've read a few good books lately:

The Three-Body Problem
Ancillary Justice
Solaris
Cloud Atlas

The Flood / faovrite microscopic eukaryote ?.
« on: May 13, 2017, 03:25:43 PM »
I like ciliophora but my friend Ed select a dinoflagellate. So or you think?

The ciliates a group of protozoans characterized by hair organelles such as Sicilian, which are in the same building flagella eukaryotic, but are typically shorter and present, many different pattern undulating flagella. Sicilian happen to all the members of the group (although strange Suctoria only have them as part of life-cycle) and a variety used in swimming, crawling, attachment, food, and excitement. All the patterns of behavior are coordinated signaling processes.

Ciliates there is an important group protists, common almost everywhere there is water - lakes, ponds, seas, rivers, and soil. About 3,500 species have been described, and the potential number of species which is estimated at 30,000. Included in this number are many types of ectosymbiotic and endosymbiotic, and some forced and opportunistic and insects. Ciliate species range in size from as little as 10 μm to as much as 4 mm in length, and include some of the most protozoans morphologically complex.

In most of the Taxonomy, "Ciliophora" is ranked as the phylum, or kingdom of Protista or meat. Other categories, ciliated flesh placed inside the classroom "Ciliata," (a term which can also refer to an unrelated species of fish). In the taxonomic scheme proposed by the International Society of Protistologists, making no official position referred to as "phylum" and "class", "Ciliophora" is a taxon unranked Alveolata.

Also, The Thrawn Trilogy is legitimately fucking good Turkey, I highly advise you read them.

Your criticisms are valid but personally I thought the book was pretty enjoyable. I didn't think it was the greatest thing in the world, but not terrible.

I think I'd definitely enjoy him as a villain instead of a protagonist. He's such a flat character in this book.

What a tragic waste of the best EU character.

The novel doesn't actually use any of the Legacy novels for material, so nothing from previous Thrawn books is in this one -- it's all focused around a new story and set of characters.

Rebels does a much better job at re-introducing him than the book. This is like rebooting Superman and then showing his adventures stopping a petty thief in a shopping mall.
