The Flood / Re: As I get older and grow wiser

I disagree with Verb on so many different levels, but I can respect the fact that he seems to have certain principles that he follows adamantly, even if I personally don't fully understand or subscribe to them, and he goes his own way even though he gets all kinds of flak for it. He definitely doesn't seem to hesitate to show people what kind of person he really is and what he believes in so props for being real and not putting on a front to try to "fit in."

instead of just throwing pills in my direction.
Our circumstances may be different (not entirely sure), but this mentality that doctors have is so fucking infuriating. The very idea that pills might not be a cure-all seems so foreign to them that they brush aside your concerns no matter your reasoning. Can't tell you how many times I've heard, "You just might not have found the right treatment yet," and it pisses me off everytime.

If you haven't found THE RIGHT ONE after 15+ times, then I certainly know better than you, doc.
The thing is, it was actually meds that were supposed to "help" me that ended up contributing to the condition I have and making me even more sick than I already was. I actually know the exact treatment that I almost certainly need, but it's a very new and niche treatment that isn't widely available, and even if it was, it's most likely astronomically expensive like everything else in American medical care so I wouldn't be able to afford it anyways.

What employer would fire you for being trans? Of course you're gonna keep your job. It would be discrimination to fire someone for being trans or becoming trans man.
I had figured it would be for not working for over a month, not for being trans.

Are you afraid you might reveal some secret you have or just act in embarrassing ways after they sedate you coming out of surgery?

Heard some stiff ass pundit on the news in the other room trying to bring up the "video games cause violence" narrative and it seemed like whatever official he was talking to wasn't really having any of it.

Currently about to lose it over the state of health care in this country, and that fact that I (as someone with no education in medicine) am having to take measures into my own hands not only because care is ridiculously expensive and insurance virtually useless, but also due to the sheer ignorance of doctors about what the hell is actually wrong and how to address it instead of just throwing pills in my direction.

Apparently the El Paso shooter was an anti-immigrant radical environmentalist? What a weird ideological combo. .

Whatever happened to neo-hippies protesting oil pipelines and blocking bulldozers from tearing down forests?

The B2 Spirit was built and tested there and the reason why “triangle shaped UFOs” became a thing
Certainly many sightings over the past few decades were just B2s, but there are some pretty well documented sightings of craft that are definitely not as the craft move very different from any kind of conventional jet or airplane.

There's a rumor that they are an aircraft called the TR-3 Black Manta, but who knows what they really are.

It's not "the left" that's the issue. It's collectivist ideology and tribalism that is driving the balkanization of society. Most people on the left aren't much different from how they were a decade ago. It's just that the fringes are the ones who speak the loudest and in this era of social media dominance, their message is amplified to an extreme degree compared to the past.

I feel like that system isn't really needed anymore due to the very low activity. At least, it should require a longer amount of time of inactivity.

So apparently there won't be a national pokedex? I don't even own a switch so I can't play these, and that's still disappointing to me.

The Flood / Re: summer

Winter has been more and more mild with each passing year here in NC. Summer always comes with a large heat wave. Unfortunately we get very humid heat here and not the dryer heat that seems to be more common out west. I suppose it's good that we don't have to deal with drought all that often, but nothing feels more exhausting than 100% humidity on a scorching summer day.

I find it hard to maintain a consistent 'active' friendship with extreme extroverts when I'm a total introvert. They don't seem to understand why someone like me just doesn't want to socialize all the time and don't get how I can have fun just chilling at home on the weekends.

This place is dead enough that I started posting on b.net again.
