ITT: Door is a whiny bitch who can't have a discussion, so the throws a tantrum.

Good job.
Do you have any understanding of what went on in this thread? Like at all?
I do. There was discussion, then you throwing a tantrum and being a baby.
I fail to see how you can interpret my spamming the thread with shitposts as a tantrum.

Quote
Praying for those things does nothing though. You are just talking to your imaginary friend.

The above quote is shitposting, nothing more.

It is of no use in a serious discussion about religion.

The post completely lacks any argument or evidence, it's no more intellectually valuable than screaming "omg ur dumb gods not real".

Yes, I do believe every organized religion is a fucking joke, and I do not believe in a higher power.

But in these discussions you must actually engage and debate, use the facts and reasoning behind your stance.

Now, I post shit like this all the time. But, again, it's shitposting, not meant to be taken seriously, and I am open about it. When you put shit like this out and expect me to treat it like a serious comment, I'm probably not going to take you seriously ever again.

If you actually take shit like the above quote seriously, you're a fucking dipshit.

Not sure how many sports you've played/coached.

When I pray with my team (I coach right now), I pray for safety and guidance. Not wins.
Praying for those things does nothing though. You are just talking to your imaginary friend. Safety is in the hands of the people playing the sport, and the guidance is supposed to come from the coach.
Can you not shit up this thread like this please

Why does he need to pray with the students? Praying literally does nothing, you are sitting there talking to yourself.
Are you just baiting or does it honestly not occur to you that religious people think prayer works?

Is there any objective reason against it?

Like any problems with statehood?

>implying kids learning strong morality and to love one another isn't for the best.
>implying they need to be told lies and be made to believe in fairy tales is necessary to achieve that
I'm not implying or saying that at all.
But hey, say what you want.
Did you not just imply that it would be better to teach children the teachings of the bible rather than subjects like science?
*facepalms
No. Both are necessary, you just group the Christian Faith with fairy tales simply because you don't believe it.

That's quite arrogant of you to believe yourself absolutely right on that matter. I have things to do today, and you aren't really contributing to the conversation, so I'm done for today. Maybe later I'll pick it back up.
But what do you think of the stories of the Prophet Mohammed? The Nordic Eddas  and the Havamal? The Kangyur? The Pyramid Texts? Pythagoras's Verses? The Sutras of Vasugupta? The Kabir poems? The Evangelion? The Dresdren Codex? How about the  one that started the concept of modern mono-theistic religions, the Avesta?

I'm sure you hold those all no higher than a fairy tale.
B-but I have anecdotal evidence for myself that I won't share

« on: September 26, 2014, 12:56:24 PM »
Why has this become a question of poverty and the ability to move?

Just give the people living their the option of being either a voter of Maryland or Virginia.
But they are not under Maryland or VA law

They're under DC law

Should they choose which state's law they are held to as well?

This might sound retarded, I apologize, I'm not sure how that works over there.

Fixed, and thanks.
Are you trying to say that Christianity isn't a source of morality but other religions are?

Or are you trying to say it's the only one that is?

I don't get what you're trying to do with that post
You know I'm a christian. You don't have to play dumb, I'm obviously saying Christianity is a source of morality.

So you're endorsing my mockery while also acting as if your religion has a moral advantage over the others.

Oh do go on, please.

Which is a lie and fairy tale?

Are you talking about Santa, Easter Bunny, ect? Will you really not have your child believe in santa?
Did you just compare god to santa
Nope. You guys did.
No, you're the one who brought Santa into the discussion.

It sounds a whole lot like you were implying kids should be taught about religion for the same reason we tell kids santa stories

Nope, must just be you misunderstanding it.
No, I think you goofed

If not, explain what you did mean

Serious / Re: Do you believe in a god, if so why?
« on: September 26, 2014, 12:25:03 PM »
I believe in Yahweh.
Why? I've got a big scar on my back. Lucky to be born, lucky to be alive.

Long story short: I wanted to know who this "God" I learned about at church was.
I wanted more than just reading the bible, I wanted God to be as real to me as He was to Moses, Abraham, Paul etc. I wanted to personally encounter Christ.

I got what I yearned for. And I'm now a Christian before anything else.
tl;dr I wanted god to be real so I convinced myself he was
No convincing dude. I won't believe or devote myself to a lie. So something very real had to happen for me to believe in God.

And that was...? Your not really offering up any evidence or your belief besides your 50/50 chance thing, which is just luck. Your telling me every time I flip a coin, it's a miracle if it lands on heads?
I have explained this multiple times. I didnt feel like typing it all out. It pretty much summed it up, I have plenty of anecdotal evidence for myself.
