I don't see the problem. That quite obviously wasn't the point.HmmHOLY SHIT. ONE business out of THOUSANDS is refusing to cater gay weddings! Fuck me I guess we need legislation against that so that everyone can be serviced by a backwards-ass pizza parlor! 663

What if the tree of knowledge only had to do with nakedness?
Like, what if when Eve bit the fruit, she saw an image of herself "covered", and thought that it made more sense than being naked, a term that had no meaning because no one had been clothed yet. God only knew she and Adam bit the fruit because they weren't completely exposed. Obviously they had free will before they ate the fruit because otherwise they wouldn't have been able to disobey God's command. 669

Serious / Re: Indiana Law: Business Owners Can Refuse Service to Anyone« on: March 30, 2015, 08:00:51 AM »For local businesses, maybe, but I don't see chain stores denying LGBT customers. That may not be an option. May communities are staunchly anti-LGBT and citizens may have to go miles and miles out of their way to find a business that they are comfortable doing business with. You know how easy it is to just use this as an excuse to disallow gays or minorities into your establishments, right? So? 672
Serious / Re: "Ford’s new car automatically slows down when it sees a speed limit sign."« on: March 30, 2015, 07:57:32 AM »
I'd rather have technology that detects the speed of the car in front of you and slows you down so that you stay two car lengths behind them (three on interstates).

Serious / Re: Something stupid about voting« on: March 29, 2015, 07:41:13 AM »
But muh discriminating voter ID laws!
To be fair, voter fraud is so minuscule it's hardly worth bringing up. It always gets blown out of proportions by the right-wing media (at least here in the US). 677
Serious / Re: >mandatory voting« on: March 29, 2015, 07:34:16 AM »Try as it might, the market will not ever remove corruption without a monopolised arbiter.Where does corruption exist where it isn't further exacerbated by government forces (backed by the state monopoly on violence)? Quote Capitalism is not a principle, it's an expediency which is only incredibly valuable because of the prosperity it has managed to create.I agree, but voluntaryism is the principle capitalism most closely follows. Quote I don't care that governments are coercive, I only care when governments are too coercive, and the whole point of contemporary politics is drawing that line. That line shouldn't be drawn in the first place. 678
Serious / Re: Indiana Law: Business Owners Can Refuse Service to Anyone« on: March 29, 2015, 07:16:24 AM »
Many other states have this kind of law. The difference is that most of those states offer the same protection to homosexuals as they do minorities.
You all can probably guess my stance on this. 679

Serious / Re: Ted Cruz is a serious Republican candidate« on: March 27, 2015, 11:18:44 AM »People who already had coverage are turned off by the fact that either their insurance plan was canceled or their rates/deductible went up (in my family's case it was the latter). Of course, logic dictates that the more people that are on insurance the more effective the insurance will be at lowering costs in the long run. It's the methods behind the ACA and its implementation that have me salty.Helping millions of people get coverage that previously couldn't is hardly a "flop" to me.In his rookie year in the Senate he went behind senior Republican leadership and held a pseudo-filibuster against the ACA, and single-handedly forced a government shutdown.I can't tell if people find that to be a good or bad thing. To someone who supports the ACA, it makes him look like a whiny child... |
