I honestly don't see how you can tax an entity, not give it equal representation under the law, and then call it fair.

Y'know,  not having a government would fix this.

Disband the government.

Does it feel bad knowing that the government is paying for shit you don't like, and you're partially paying for it?

Serious / Re: What do economists agree on?
« on: July 09, 2015, 04:35:23 AM »
I'd argue that economists are inherently biased toward the state because they are typically employed by government or banks, meaning that any "consensus" derived by economists would be fallacious.

That also is to say that free-market economists are inherently biased against the state because they are typically employed by entities that would benefit from less state control of the market.

I for one would love to wait at toll booths for every street that's owned by a different corporation. I'd also really like to pay to leave my own driveway as well.
Because right now you shop at a different store for every different good you buy.  There aren't large corporations that create giant retail outlets, say "grocery stores" or "superstores" or "malls" to fulfill your needs.  It's completely outlandish to think that companies specializing in maintaining roads wouldn't appear in the absense of a government monopoly on road "maintenance", despite the fact that there are companies that specialize in building houses.

201
I swear when it comes to libertarian philosophy you're all functionally retarded.  "hurr durr muh roads" isn't an argument against anything.

202
Because who needs roads, or law enforcement, or an efficient organized military, or any of the other services a government typically provides.
hurr durr roads can only exist if they're state-owned

hurr durr paying obscene prices to leave the drive way is something I can totally afford.
You realize that if no one can afford to drive on the roads then the owners of said roads wouldn't have the money to maintain them?  And if they couldn't maintain them they'd most likely abandon them?  And that if they abandoned them then someone else (or a collective) would take over?

It's in the interest of everyone to have roads.  That's like saying, "Without government who will dig the wells?"

or law enforcement
Law enforcement doesn't exist when there aren't laws to enforce.  Property rights would be the only thing enforced, and I in a society demanding enforcement someone will create organizations (DROs) that perform that service, for a fee (not unlike today's law firms).
Quote
or an efficient organized military
Who would be waging wars?  Businesses?  Do you know how expensive war is?  The only reason nations can afford to wage wars is because they have control over the money supply.  In the long-term the currency is devalued but in the short-term it can buy an army.

Besdies that, a society with no government isn't bound by the Geneva convention.  Any outside entity looking to wage war would be faced with nukes and hollow-point MGs.  No one would dare take that risk.

or any of the other services a government typically provides.
All trivial services which could be better provided by firms with a profit motive.

Well now you've gone and soiled yourself...you will never get an explanation.  That is a fact.

The closest you'll get is....cause they can.

How have I "soiled" myself?
I dunno.  Maybe you should post a video of you peeing your pants.  That'll show those trolls.

Serious / Re: Worst president in history?
« on: July 07, 2015, 08:18:29 PM »
For me, it's a tie between FDR and Hoover.
I'd say Hoover simply because FDR at least made attempts to fix the economy he was given. Hoover literally just sat on his ass.

At least as far as I know. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
FDR caused a second market collapse once the market was able to correct itself after the New Deal.  Then he--OH LOOK THE JAPANESE BOMBED PEARL HARBOR FOR NO REASON!

Serious / Re: Bernie Sanders breaks Election Records
« on: July 07, 2015, 08:13:29 PM »
Character-wise, I'd much rather have Sanders elected over Clinton. He's got very little leadership experience, but Clinton has none. And the president isn't as powerful in moving legislation through Congress as we make it out to be, so he can't really do a vast amount of damage. Being a consistent voter, as opposed to someone like Obama who has flipped on a laundry list of major points, we'll know what we're getting which is better than the obscenely corrupt political machine of the Clintons.

And the best part is that he'll be easy to beat. Yeah he's got an impressively obnoxious viral advertising campaign going on, but he'll get torn to shreds when those ads actually matter for something.

I belive Bernie actually balanced out a city's budget when he was elected as Mayor, so I'd say that's a plus. Yeah Nation>City, but having knowledge of economics helps.
His knowledge of economics literally boils down to raising taxes on every entity making more than an arbitrary amount he's come up with in his head.
