It likely has to do with codes and such. If someone were to crash on that road and learned that the road wasn't repaired to code they could sue. It's still stupid, though.

I don't trust unregulated industry. If nobody says companies can't spill toxic waste into rivers and water supplies, they will.
That's the thing, though. NOBODY says companies SHOULD spill toxic waste into rivers and reservoirs. All companies have to do right now is get a permit from the local town or EPA and they can pollute water sources. If that waste ends up on privately owned land the landowner can do shit-all about it, because the company has a permit from the town, which supposedly acts on behalf of the populous.

Common Core is trying to get kids to think about math differently than their parents' generation. Truth be told, we won't know whether it's made a positive or negative impact until these kids are going into college and the work force.

I'm not sure I understand the point of your post.
I think what he means is that for God to be "good" someone has to be "bad". Good can't exist as a benevolent being unless a malevolent being also exists. Leads to some interesting questions. Like if God was the only being in existence at one point, was he "good" or "bad" during that time?
