Serious / Re: Citizens Repair Neglected Roads, Threatened With Arrest« on: October 17, 2014, 07:02:54 AM »It doesn't explain why they want to un-do the repairs. It likely has to do with codes and such. If someone were to crash on that road and learned that the road wasn't repaired to code they could sue. It's still stupid, though. 1743

Serious / Re: Obama is abusing his power [AGAIN!]« on: October 16, 2014, 10:15:39 PM »I don't trust unregulated industry. If nobody says companies can't spill toxic waste into rivers and water supplies, they will. That's the thing, though. NOBODY says companies SHOULD spill toxic waste into rivers and reservoirs. All companies have to do right now is get a permit from the local town or EPA and they can pollute water sources. If that waste ends up on privately owned land the landowner can do shit-all about it, because the company has a permit from the town, which supposedly acts on behalf of the populous. 1745

I don't understand why people like to get piss drunk. A little tipsy to take the edge off at a party? Sure. But I never drink to the point where I wouldn't be sober within an hour.

The federal government shouldn't own that land in the first place. And if the government really wanted to take action against pollution, they'd dismantle the EPA and let class-action lawsuits regulate companies.

Serious / Re: How the press has normalised GOP stupidity« on: October 15, 2014, 09:15:56 AM »I like it. It makes the Republikunts lose more credibility (whatever credibility they have left) and makes their chances of winning elections more and more difficult. They might lose credibility with national audiences, but not with their constituency. Why do you think they say crazy shit? Because it gets their supporters riled up and almost guarantees a huge turnout on election day. 1756
Serious / Re: Parent destroys stupidity of Common Core« on: October 15, 2014, 09:08:57 AM »
It's funny because if you asked me twelve years ago I would've been able to point out his mistake in an instant.
Common Core is trying to get kids to think about math differently than their parents' generation. Truth be told, we won't know whether it's made a positive or negative impact until these kids are going into college and the work force. I find it bollocks because I don't get the methods used. It's akin to putting a right-handed guitar in a lefty's hands and asking them to play TtFatF. 1757

They won't develop because the UN won't allow them to. Most are funded by prominent libertarians and the last thing governments want their citizens to see is people thriving without an authoritarian state.

Serious / Re: An interesting thing about Satan and God« on: October 12, 2014, 06:00:26 PM »I think what he means is that for God to be "good" someone has to be "bad". Good can't exist as a benevolent being unless a malevolent being also exists. Leads to some interesting questions. Like if God was the only being in existence at one point, was he "good" or "bad" during that time? 1761

Too bad the West drools over Middle-East since oil is top priority and valueThe West has donated trillions to help Africa develop, and jack-shit has been done. Haiti hasn't gotten near as much aid since its colonial overlords left, and it was doing pretty well for itself until the earthquake in 2010. 1767
