They're proud of your intellect. Not many parents can say that their kids are intelligent. Sure a ton of kids out there play sports or play an instrument, but none of those things necessarily require a high intelligence.
Just smile and say, "Thanks, mom/dad." All they want is your approval for how you were brought up. Many parents see their child's intellect as a measurement of how well they functioned as parents. Even if they didn't teach you what they know, they provided the environment that enabled you to accrue so much knowledge. 1396
