Serious / Re: I really don't get how people can be anti-capitalist
« on: February 01, 2015, 08:21:46 PM »
I disagree as it is the capitalist system that allows this small subset to gain the power necessary to buy out the state. You can make laws that defend against corruption but their is not an inherent system in capitalism that constrains private interests from collecting resources over multiple generations until such a point that they have undisputed power over the state.
Funny considering there was already a small subset of largely unelected individuals who held regulatory power over the country before corporate buyouts.

And when you consider the fact that anyone can be bought or sold, having an entity with undisputed power over a population of over 300 million sounds like a terrible idea.

The only fundamental error in capitalism is that it becomes increasingly easy for a tiny subset of the population to own and control the state the longer it runs on. Which is why communitarian, distributionist or localist capitalism are the better forms to follow.
That's a problem with the state, not capitalism.

loosening gun control measures would not do anything to stop these black markets
The black market for liquor was thriving during prohibition.  Once those laws were repealed the black markets were replaced by legitimate, regulated businesses.  The same thing happened with marijuana legalization in Europe and a handful of U.S. states.

Obviously the situation is very different, but history shows that when governments outright ban or impose harsh regulations on certain products, a black market for those products is created.

How come pop musicians get all the money by making shitty pop songs while blues/jazz/rock n roll/metal/modern day rock/skiffle musicians don't, all of these things i mentioned requires talent, rap and pop used to be good and pop started to sucks after 2008.
Jazz and blues is very niche.  The music is harder to digest than the I-V-vi-IV chord structure of most pop sings.  Also remember that many pop stars are famous because of their personalities and vices in addition to their music.

« on: January 29, 2015, 09:49:30 PM »
*shoot in direction* = go that direction
*look at you, shoot at the ground, look at you* = gib ammo/health
*shoot at you* = stop doing that
*shoot at your vehicle* = wait up
*spin in a circle while shooting* = idk wtf is goin on

My way of communication hasn't really evolved past Battlefront methods.  I usually play a sniper class and tend to man secondary positions on vehicles so I mark targets to help whomever I'm shotgunning with.

Serious / Re: FCC Sets a New, Faster Definition for Broadband
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:38:44 PM »
Too bad broadband describes the method of data transmission and not its speed.

I mean seriously.  This would be like changing the definition of music to only include melodies with more than five notes.

I understand their sentiments, but their method of execution is sloppy at best.  I imagine this new definition to be challenged in the courts by the big ISPs that figure the cost of a good attorney to be less than the cost of upgrading their infrastructure.

Being a sniper/spotter requires a high level of understanding of mathematics and projectile physics.

Anyone that takes on the courses required to become an expert in those areas is not a coward by any stretch of the imagination.

Anarcho-Capitalist

1077
but if i were honest, i'd probably say social anarchist
but do you really think anarchy could work
not as long as people keep asking questions like this

it's an ideal, more or less
well we kinda have to ask if itll work, otherwise, is it really worth considering as an ideology

what conditions would have to be met for anarchy to be an effective form of social organization (or lack thereof?) what evidence is there that we wouldnt just rip each other to shreds? or is that the natural goal of an anarchist's ideals?
If the goal of government is to provide a safe framework for people to live their lives and conduct business without unreasonable disruption due to violence or coercion, then it has failed miserably.

No legal consequences and I still get off.
