the stereotype that transpeople will fly off the handle if you slip up is generally not true, and the ones that refuse to be patient with those of you who are a little slower on the uptake are generally disliked by the reasonable ones that make up the majority of the trans community, most of whom completely understand that some concepts can be pretty difficult to wrap your head around if you've never had to think about stuff like "what gender am i" before

to help you out a bit, for example, i don't think anyone really uses the word "transvestite" anymore, and it doesn't actually refer to any kind of transgender individual anyway—it's only used to describe cross-dressers, or people who dress up like the opposite sex without identifying as the opposite sex (such as drag queens, who mainly do it for fun, not because they are having an identity crisis)

"transexual" is also not really used anymore, either, because the whole point of being trans is not identifying with your biological sex—therefore, the more accurate term is "transgender." the barebones basic distinction between sex and gender (that can be used as a rule of thumb) is that sex is what's going on physically, and gender is what's going on mentally

if you are a cisgender man, that means that your sex and gender happen to match, just like the majority of humans

when there's a mismatch between sex and gender, you get transgenderism—and because people are strange and complex and unique and have different circumstances, everyone's going to have a unique case of it

it's not really important to know EVERY little thing about this stuff, especially if you don't happen to know any Ts anyway, but as long as you remain open and respectful of people, that's really the only thing anyone wants at the end of the day (and yes, you're allowed to make mistakes)

Second, Verb, you seem to be not understanding that the entire point is that the possibility of one of the 100 condemning you is what constitutes the game theory outcome of it being necessary for you to be that one.

which is another thing that separates this from a true prisoner's dilemma in the sense that having the choice-makers be randomly chosen is imbalanced—why should some random person get to choose first over another random person? what's the logic behind that? if i were second in line, and the very first person chose to fuck everyone over, that kinda just throws the whole experiment out the window right off the bat

then again, the closer you model the hypothetical after the prisoner's dilemma, the more you might as well just be thinking about the prisoner's dilemma, where the choices are made simultaneously between just two people

do you know how easy it would be for me to find 99 people who would take the second option? even if i had a hard time, if you assume any number of people would share my mentality, there's no reason to suspect that it would be impossible for 99 others to feel the same

the furthest you can go is "it's overwhelmingly likely"—you can't guarantee it any more than i can guarantee the opposite

if it was 100 dahuterschuters on this island, then you'd be wise to choose the first option, but not everybody is you (or someone like you), and that's the point—i'm sure there have been countless stories written about this level of myopia
