He asked how there was bias.
I explained in depth how this poll removes some possible bias.
Four short sentences isn't what I'd call "in depth", but whatever.

I have no problem with the results' visibility, I just don't really think that was an adequate response...

I can't see the results at all. Regardless, it's basically blinding.
You go in, read the options, and pick your choice. You don't see what others pick.
That doesn't really answer his question.

And you know, you couldn't just name them after anyone. Unless you wanted to. I like to be creative about it, though. Like, I named a Banette Sid, for example. You know, the bratty kid who abused his toys in Toy Story? Because Banette is an abused toy. So it all kinda links together like that.

Yeah. I usually do it in themes, too.

I'm playing Alpha Sapphire along with someone, for example. He's naming all of his 'mons after Dreamworks characters, and he told me that I should name all mine after Pixar characters. It's pretty fun.

Yeah, that too... even though... I can't imagine what it must be like to be influenced by the majority opinion.

It would just discourage people from voting for less popular options when they see that there's a strong majority, which I'm sure there probably is. And it would cause people to whine.

Because I'd like to change it.

Fallacy fallacy fallacy.

People seem to be under the impression that the middle ground is the best because it's the middle ground (instead of actually considering the extremes). I'd say that's the perfect application.

Doesn't matter though; if you voted, you voted...

The Flood / Re: Are the mods here too strict?

Fuck no.

The mods need to be fucking draconian when it comes to shitposting, but they ENCOURAGE IT INSTEAD.
What an excellent demonstration of the problem.
It's in the pudding, kid.

I think how receptive a moderator is to the community can be shown simply through the mods' participation in threads. Which, you know, all of them already do a great job of doing.

So it would say

"Report received, looking into"
"Warning given"
Etc.
Umm... I guess that would be okay. I don't really see much of a point beyond getting a vindictive hard-on over someone's punishment, but... I like hard-ons.

Regarding communication between the mods and members, I had a recent suggestion that basically included a response window with each report. Every mod dealing with a report would then provide a quick and anonymous response on what they did and why. Does anyone feel like this would be a good idea?
Well I mean, you already sort of have that ability with PMs.

At least 13 of the threads currently on the front page of Serious would be moved under our model.
Could you name a few? I'm honestly seeing nothing but political discussion. I guess my definition is just inherently broader.
"Russian fishermen catch squeaking alien and eat it"
What qualities constitute "good" music?
Any writing you're working on?
Every fast food restaurant should be following this model
Sony to possibly release The Interview on Crackle, for free
North Korea's internet is down entirely

What's the difference between belief and a lack of belief?
All right, all right. Those ones don't fit under what I'd consider politics/religion. Everything else you mentioned, I think could be chalked up pretty easily. And as for that last one, I mean, you made it, so I'm inclined not to count it.
