Also, consider inviting some people to spectate your match. Not only is it more fun, but in case you forget to save your replays, someone else might have remembered. If no one remembers to get the replays, whatever--just tell me what the final score ended up being ("2-0 in my favor", "1-2 in his favor"), and that'll work fine too.

It just makes it easier for me to authenticate the results if I actually have, you know, proof.
It's not that I don't trust you--I just don't trust you.

All right. Now we just need Luis to confirm, and those ten types will be set in stone.

Still got eight more.

Of course its bug, re-roll.
Looks like he takes Bug anyway. Because of that, I'll give you a second reroll if you want one.

Yutaka
Ghost

Sure, why not.
We're gonna run out of types at this rate...

Yutaka
Bug

(Assuming Sceptile isn't happy with Bug, which he probably isn't, so...)

One other thing, full team or half team?
Sorry, if I'm just not reading right. 2am over here...
6v6 (full team) at level 100.
Bingo.

put me in for grass
I'll... roll for you twice, how about that?

Sceptile
Water

...Nope.

Reroll
Bug

Tough break.

I don't see anything about Pokemon levels here, do we just set them to 100?
If you don't wanna lose, yeah.

Technically, they can be whatever level you want them to be (I'm sure you're familiar with the infamous FEAR strategy), but yeah, in general, just set them all to 100.

okay, i dont wanna be grass

reroll
Alphy
Fighting

That puts Grass back in...
I'll give this a shot, I've never properly played PvP mainly because I'm stubborn and work on a honour system of no field effects, items or recovery >.>, but I'll try this for fun and hopefully won't fuck up too badly.
No items!? I hope you get Bug.

Byrne
Dark

Ten types remain: Normal, Poison, Ground, Rock, Bug, Grass, Ghost, Steel, Water, and Psychic.

'cause team aqua is cooler

there is not too much water--that was one reviewer's opinion that everyone makes fun of because she gave the game a 7.8/10 based off of that alone (oh, and the fact that the game has like, eight HMs--which is a legitimate complaint)

i was, but now that grass is taken, i don't wanna.
Maybe if you're lucky, he'll choose to re-roll, but that still won't guarantee you Grass.

I still need confirmation from these two:

All right, HERE ARE YOUR TYPES:

I'll be using this RNG to determine our types: https://www.random.org/
(you guys are just gonna have to take my word for it :P)

Verbatim
Fairy
(I am okay with this.)

Tyger
Ghost
Iberius
Electric
Luis
Ice
Alphy
Grass
CK
Fire

Also, remember: You can edit your team as much as you want between matches. You don't have to use the same six 'mons with the same four moves, etc. So you may want to take some time before just fighting it out with everyone right away--optimize your strategy. You've plenty of time to do so, so try not to rush into it. Have some fun.

If you need to battle someone, just ask 'em if they're ready for you. If they're not, wait it out. We have 'til March.

So, unless we have people who want a reroll, the tournament has officially begun!
(but don't worry--there's still time to sign up, too!)

Go on Showdown and build yourself a solid team for your desired first opponent and report to the Scoreboard thread whenever you get done.

Regarding megas,
Let's say I have mono-dark

Can I use mega-gyarados?

Basically I'm asking if a pokemon changes types after mega evolving, can we use them if the mega satisfies our team type?
Good question.

You cannot. The 'mon has to have been that type originally, before any mega evolutions or other type-altering abilities. However, if your type was Flying, you could still use Mega Gyarados--because Gyarados was originally Flying.

So, for those of you interested, here are the rules for the mono-type tourney we'll be having...

We will be using the Showdown battle simulator found here: http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/
If you don't have an account, go ahead and make yourself one and get yourself familiarized with the team builder.

I assume most of you know how the competitive metagame works, so I'll skip over most of that shit.
Just keep in mind that Showdown uses Smogon rules, so any Pokémon considered "Uber" will be ineligible.

Rather than a standard elimination bracket, we'll be using a round robin tourney. That is, you have a match with every other person in the tournament to gain points (and whoever has the most points at the end of the tourney wins). A "match" will be considered whoever wins the first two out of three battles.

This means the winner of the match will always get two points--but the loser can still gain at least one point. This adds a further dynamic to the scoring, and it helps prevent ties. In the event of a tie, everyone who tied up will engage in another round robin style tourney, gaining points once again until there is a definitive winner.

Now for the fun stuff!

Given that this is a Mono-type tourney, you are limited only to your selected type. If your type is Water, you may use any 'mon who is solely water, primarily water, or secondarily water. To make things more fun and dynamic, however, you will not be allowed to choose your OWN type--I will use a random number generator to give you one. If you are unhappy with your type, I can reroll for you once--but if you do that, you can't go back on your decision. Failure to comply with that will result in your forfeiting of the tournament.

TEAMS WILL BE FLUID. That is to say, you can edit your teams in between matches at your leisure as long as you only use 'mons that are in your designated type, but you don't have to use the same Pokémon with the same moves. This allows you to optimize your strategy against an opponent who may have a type advantage over you--but be wary, for your opponent will likely have an optimized strategy against you, as well.

(also important: if you choose to reroll, you may get your type twice in a row, so be wary of that. ALSO, no two participants will have the same type, for maximum diversity)

The nice thing about round robin is that it allows for relatively free reign--you can fight whoever you need to, whenever you are able to. So for the sake of getting more people involved, signup for the tourney will end on January 31st. That's next Saturday at midnight, EST. You can take your time building yourself a team and battling everyone, but keep in mind that this tournament will END at the end of February. That's plenty of time for you to get all your battles done with everyone. Be wary if new people signup before the 31st of January, however!

As mentioned, battles can be done at your convenience--there's no bracket, just a scoreboard. HOWEVER:

If you battle someone, MAKE SURE TO SAVE A REPLAY OF EACH BATTLE and report to this thread after each match (you can also send a PM). This authenticates your win/loss. If you don't have a replay, you need confirmation from both you and the person you battled with. I will keep a log of each replay in that thread as well.

The current type designations are as follows:

I'm writing the rules thread right now. Should be up soon. We'll give everyone a few days to construct a team, of course. No longer a week, though.

Should we all get different types? Seems like it would be a no-brainer until you consider that it might make the re-rolling system a little unfair.

Okay, here's how I think we should do it... If you are unsatisfied with your type, you can have one reroll. But whatever your reroll is, you have to stick with that type. How's that?
that what I was saying like, should we allow non-legendary ubers?
I don't think so, personally. They were banned for a reason, after all. I tend to trust Smogon's judgment. I don't know about you guys, but wrecking people with one OP 'mon isn't exactly all that fun.

Mega Khan is Uber, though. Unless that's what you mean. Greninja is OU, last time I checked. But yeah, of course, no Ubers.

Oh shit, Greninja is Uber... When did that happen?...

You might have a point with Ghost-types, but I don't know. I still think banning types is lame.
The idea is to make do with the hand that you're dealt--that's what makes it fun.

Regice and Avalugg can tank hits like a beast, even from Fighting, and Froslass shuts Fighting down completely with its Ghost typing. There's also Articuno, who takes neutral damage from Fighting, packs Hurricane, and is a solid 'mon overall if you know how to use it.

Rock-types would definitely be a challenge, but there's still a lot of great ones--namely, all of the fossil 'mons.

If we're going to be assigned random types, then at least make it so that nobody gets assigned a shitty typing that is going to put them at a disadvantage, such as Rock or Ice.
Nooo, that's lame. There are plenty of great Rock/Ice types... Even Bug types. The whole idea is that we're all kind of disadvantaged in the sense that we can't all get what we want anyway.

I got Ice last time I did something like this, and I won, so... Not to mention, we're doing round robin, so one loss against a poor matchup isn't going to kill you.

I'll make the bracket and I'll assign types as soon as we have enough interested folks. At least five.
Actually, we don't even need a bracket. Just a scoreboard.

I'll also make a thread mapping out the rules, but that'll have to wait--got some shit to do right now...

The way we've done it before was we allowed ourselves to change our team's members in between matches. That is, each match is a two-out-of-three battle, and when the battle is over, you're allowed to change your 'mons, items, moves, etc. to suit your next opponent (you still have to stick within your type, though, obviously).

This adds mind-games, because you don't know what's up your opponent's sleeve. It's also more fair this way, because being locked into a single team for the entire match can lead to unlucky results (like going up against an entire team that is super effective against you). Sound good?

I've done stuff like this before, and it's super fun. We don't need eight people, but we should have at least four or six.

We shouldn't be able to pick our types, though. Should be randomized. Otherwise, allow me to just build a team that is specifically geared to deal with all of your types and proceed to win everything <_< And if this is a tournament, I'd strongly prefer that we do round robin instead of elimination.

But yeah, good idea.

So...whoever doesn't like the users you like isn't worthy of your respect? Lol, seems like a pretty shallow judgment system.
Pretty sure she never said she dislikes him. I read the exact opposite, really. Lay off the pot, maybe?

And how's that working out for you?
Splendidly. I have fucked 0 women younger than that. Which is the point of the thread.
