I'm really surprised there are no adjustments for Inkling, K. Rool, or Pikachu.

None of my characters have been affected yet, except Link, who I've decided is too difficult to master anyway, and requires tech that I do not enjoy performing (like recovering with bombs).

the fact that such a movie was able to be created in 1968 is a big part of why it's one of my favorite films as well

if you like movies that make you think, i'd watch pretty much any david fincher movie

actually, you've no doubt seen fight club already

1.12 million and they're still not letting me back in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

i've been practicing with simon though, and i'm absolutely delighted with how he plays, he's everything i wanted him to be (but it'll be awhile before i start winning games with him, his recovery is the only thing i dislike)

Jumping with a button is going to take some getting used to. I've played the game for like 30 minutes and all but one of my deaths were from falling off the map and just plummeting down trying to remember how to jump back up. Pretty good otherwise though.
can always force yourself to learn the muscle memory by jumping offstage and seeing how far you can recover from in training mode. Also a good way to learn how deep you can go for edgeguards.

Personally, I keep tap jump on to keep my right thumb free, specifically for attacking out of shield. Makes rest oos free as Puff once you nail the up > down-b timing.
What do the pros use?
buttons almost entirely

notably, hungrybox uses tap jump, but that's merely incidental as melee puff benefits from it for the reasons he described

What's Elite Smash?
basically, it's when your global smash power (GSP) gets high enough, and you start getting queued up against elite players

or at least, that's the idea of it. i was in it briefly after i had achieved approximately 600,000 GSP, but i got beat up shortly thereafter and lost it almost as fast as i got in, and the minimum requirement seems to have risen a great deal since then

GSP is a half-baked ELO player-ranking system, where your rank is literally the exact number of people that you're supposedly better than (and for each character)

so because my GSP with jigglypuff is 1,002,885, that means the game thinks i'm better than 1,002,884 other players, with that character

the working theory at the moment is that elite smash is for the top 1% of online players, which would explain the constant fluctuation, since the strongest players are likely only getting stronger, so the ceiling rises every time

Press A B together for a special move or something, it was in the settings. Doesn't matter though.
oh, yeah, i forgot that was even a thing

i never use it, but it's not obtrusive or anything, so i leave the option there

Sticks sensitivity high and special attack thing on, I suppose?

Switch is looking good so far. Screen's a bit smaller than I expected though, but not a big deal.
i don't know about putting stick sensitivity on high myself, but i suppose you can do what feels comfortable for you

i have it on low, because unwanted fast-falls, dashes, and smash attacks are highly undesirable to me

not sure what you mean by special attack thing honestly

I'm also going to try Falco. Apparently he's got crazy potential and I can dig that.

What's the best way to control this thing? You use the thumbstick for jumps or the jump button?
buttons are optimal for jumping, and you'll actually want to head over to the controller options to disable stick jump all together, because it only makes it more difficult to perform up-tilts and up-airs without accidentally jumping

also, if you're gonna learn falco, who has the highest jump in the game, it's gonna be very important for you to know how to short hop, and fortunately, there's a new feature which makes that easier than ever (and a bit more fun, i might add)

hitting the jump + normal attack buttons simultaneously (while tilting the stick for the desired aerial, as normal) will allow you to perform short hop aerials, a fairly indispensable technique that will give you an edge in neutral

practice short hop aerials out of shield (OoS) in situations where your opponent is on your ass, or short hop up-airs if your opponent is on a platform above you and is looking vulnerable

without this technique, falco's high-ass jumps will make it extremely difficult for you to hit your mark in any situation, and being high up in the air is a disadvantageous state in general

Say I want Marth and Mewtwo to play with, how would I unlock them best?
short answer:
for Marth, beat Classic mode with Yoshi twice (or with Lucario once), OR do seven Vs. matches
for Mewtwo, beat Classic mode with Fox eight times (or with Wolf once), OR do over seventy Vs. matches
or find them both in story mode, which i can't help you with

long answer:

character unlocks via Classic mode appear to be based on a table which groups unlockables with the characters on the initial roster

for example, beating Classic mode once with Mario will unlock Sonic; from there, you can beat it again with Sonic to unlock Bayonetta, OR you can beat it with Mario a second time to unlock the same character

this process can be repeated for a total of seven or eight unlockable characters per group, and the last of which for this group in particular (which we'll call Group A) is Captain Olimar

therefore, to unlock a desired character in Group A, you must repeatedly beat Classic mode a number of times corresponding to the character's placement in the group (because they're in a set order) WITH a character in that group

Mewtwo is the eighth character in Group G (Fox's group), meaning you must have already unlocked the seven other preceding characters in the group first before you're able to unlock him

these characters are, in order: Captain Falcon, Zero Suit Samus, Peach, Falco, Daisy, Bowser Jr, and Wolf

once all of these characters have been unlocked, and assuming IGN isn't lying to me, Mewtwo is guaranteed to be the next one, so long as you beat the mode using one of those characters (including Fox)

the game is designed in such a way that you can get all the characters within a couple hours if you really wanted, but getting specific characters you want can be a pain in the ass

Alright, I'll probably give one of the sword guys a try first then.

Is the screen 60hz to match the 60fps of some games? I assume so but can't find info on this anywhere.
of course

valve didn't want child-killing in half-life 2, so the lack of children was woven into the plot, so it's not like there are no creative solutions to these problems

that said, i can't say i personally have an issue with it, at least no more than i have with any other rockstar game

i've already decided years and years ago that i'm not terribly interested in games like grand theft auto, or saint's row, where the whole appeal is to be a murderer or a raving lunatic, because it's always been pretty senseless to me and i never understood how people were able to derive any sort of entertainment out of it

still, it's easy enough for me to just not play those games, because they're not for me, but if anyone looks at a game like this and says "this should not exist," i can totally understand why they would feel that way and there's no real argument against it

i choose to have that attitude about sexual content more than i do with violent content

Because these are things that make sense in an open world game that gives you player choice?

You can kill pretty much anybody in this game. Why would they prohibit you just because it's a woman or beggar? They're not actively encouraging it and you get punished for doing it so I don't see how you can put that on the developers.

Also that pedo thing was clearly a moral choice. They're not encouraging the player to leave the kid and you can clearly tell the right thing to do is to free the kid.

Just because some bad choices exist in the game doesn't mean the developers condone them. It's all about player choice. Imagine a game where the only thing you're allowed to do is pet kittens and feed the homeless.
the question being asked is why would anyone want to play a game with these moral choices in the first place

what is gained from it

yet, so i'm not sure about that one

in terms of what you should "aim" for, are there any characters you want to play in particular? i can tell you the fastest way to unlock them
I don't even know. I liked Samus and Fox in the original one but haven't really played since.

What are good characters in different styles?

And what about my other questions?
can't answer the others since i always play with the AC adaptor plugged in no matter what, but to give a rough estimate, i would say the battery life is anywhere from 2-3 hours, so not a whole lot

for characters, anyone with a sword is an all-around good pick, particularly marth roy lucina or chrom

simon and richter are looking like the best zoners in the game

sheik, fox, and falco are looking pretty good if you like combo-heavy rushdown characters, but their speed makes them technical and difficult

king k. rool is the most busted heavyweight in the game right now, because his kit has just about everything you could want in a character

pokemon trainer is back, of course, with the three-characters-in-one gimmick, and all three of them seem very strong this time around, plus he's fun to use

the amazing thing about smash is that every character manages to carve their own niche, despite the fact that there are so many, so i can tell you who's a good defensive character or offensive character, but that will tell you very little about how they actually play, since everyone has their own unique gameplan for the most part

personally i play jigglypuff because i love camping and poking at you at a safe distance while floating away, and since i have multiple jumps, if you make a mistake, i can basically carry you all the way to the blastzone with my aerials
