Wasnt it over beating the shit out of guitar girl or something?
Yeah I made a poll with an elaborate post asking if I should kill her. Then I edited the post to something about a cop and a sweetroll. DeeJ wasn't happy though.

LOL. And it goes personal.
"Star Trek was an attempt to say that humanity will reach maturity and wisdom on the day that it begins not just to tolerate, but take a special delight in differences in ideas and differences in life forms. […] If we cannot learn to actually enjoy those small differences, to take a positive delight in those small differences between our own kind, here on this planet, then we do not deserve to go out into space and meet the diversity that is almost certainly out there."
-Gene Roddenberry
That's my point. That maturity he's talking about is losing tribalism. Us vs Them. Globalism isn't bad because it's the start of maturity.
Why the fuck is Gene Roddenberry you're intellectual backing here? You're literally citing Star Trek. What the fuck.

Humanity hasn't grown out of tribalism yet. For a globalist society to exist, we need to ditch the idea of our tribes
This is precisely wrong.
Tribalism will be the only thing keeping humanity unified by the time it becomes a spacefaring species.
The concept itself has to be discarded. Otherwise we'll start shooting the second we make first contact.
Ladies and gentlemen, a créme de la créme example of the slippery slope fallacy.
No, we won't. Why? Because aliens aren't human. The concept of tribalism doesn't apply.
Look at nearly EVERY example of fiction we have. If we can't see that we have no tribe, then it's nearly always us vs them.
Where did this very forum come from?
A little game called Halo. Which it the quintessential us vs them story
Yeah but in Halo it was aliens that shot first because they were religious nutjobs. Bad example for your point.
It's a perfect example. That's how we think they'll be. We're projecting ourselves on them.
You're an idiot. I'm not surprised your wife cheated on you if she had to deal with this shit.

the point is that people can't live off the current MW, and that's a problem.
The minimum wage has nothing to do with some arbitrarily defined standard of living, and everything to do with the given size of a low-income labour market. If people don't have enough money to live, the solution is to have government give them money, not raise the cost employers face to hiring them.

He's right about basically fucking everything, minus his falling for the wage gap meme. His platform was magnificant and near-flawless.
Literally the only way you can think this Verb is by being wilfully ignorant of economics and how his side of the platform approached it.

Fiction is humanity doing a thought experiment on how it would react. 99/100 times, we kill them
Well, I'd dispute that. Not only is fiction going to be influenced by the time it was written in (The Forever War takes a lot of inspiration from Vietnam, for instance), so the way characters are portrayed and the way the plot develops will be in some part guided by contemporary affairs, but most of the time science fiction involving 'first contact' or war usually begins with us being attacked first, or it's a commentary on the futility and pointlessness of war or it's about the complex politics that lead to war (and, oftentimes, peace). Just look at the Forever War, Starship Troopers, Ender's Game etc. If you think science fiction boils down to ALIENS BAD HUMANS KILL you aren't paying any kind of attention whatsoever, and don't deserve to own science fiction books. I mean, come on, you even fucking play as an alien in fucking Halo and then have them as your allies.

You're deluded if you think tribe loyalty means total, unthinking, hostile xenophobia. I said tribalism will keep us together as a species, not that we should all turn into Space Nazis.
