Unless you have examples of genocidal women leaders who weren't convicted, this comment was pointless.
Not really. How responsible was Eva Braun? Historically, most leaders have been men, but no doubt there were women behind the scenes who also share some culpability and who have never been convicted.

I thought photons were almost totally massless.
So close to zero that they're considered zero.
So couldn't information which is literally massless travel faster than c? Or is there some universal barrier preventing anything from being any more massless than a photon or graviton?

White men in general are indeed the most historically brutal demographic
Historically literate person here; you don't know what you're talking about.
You understand that there literally hasn't been a single female genocidal leader in history, right?
The Tutsi people would like a word.

Do it. I find the usual political compass to be unsatisfactory; fortunately, there is a superior version on a different site. Figured it'd be interesting to see the results. Users I'd like to see do this: - Verb - Class - Challenger - Mordo - Turkey - Door - Icy

well, whatever
factoring in social values: Turkey = Meta < Slash = Das < Cadenza < Door < Mordo
Mordo is consistently ranking highly, why? He doesn't come across as that conservative to me. Although to be fair, I haven't noted any of his recent posts.

Welp, a consumer culture is pretty fucking dumb to be honest.
Problem with a consumer culture is that nobody knows when, and nobody wants to, put the brakes on. So then it quickly turns into over consumption and burns itself out. Like what it's doing now. I'd agree that consumerism can easily turn into materialism, but we've had philosophical and religious impulses which used to modulate the former. Is materialism a problem? Yes, I think it is. But to claim a general culture of consumption, which enables production, which enables wealth doesn't lead to prosperity is incorrect on the face of it. Rule of law, you talk like nobody else had that before and that it's just unique to western values. Something being a "Western value" doesn't mean it's exclusive to the West; it just means we're fortunate Napoleon spread it across Europe by the barrel of a musket. Competion? Nigger please, competition isn't some magical thing bestowed on people by western values, it's inherent to most people's nature, and therefore, establishes itself on it's own. Sure, but we're talking about values, not behaviour. There isn't currently--and hasn't been--a culture on Earth that institutionalises competition so effectively. Not even the Islamic golden age accomplished that, and the Middle East is currently suffering as a result. Commercial culture is pretty unique to us. Check out the latest generations of kids. How's that work ethic doing there slick? Oh that's right, I forgot.
Who are the people you know who most decry the decline of the Western work ethic, and the degeneration of Western culture in general? If it's on here, chances are it's me. If it's in real life, they're probably conservatives.

it's "smart" social values or "stupid" social values
It's pretty silly to think that an ideology which has been around for centuries has nothing of value to offer. I disagree with social conservatives on a lot of issues, but on the macro (or cultural, if you like) issues they have something of value to say about things like the Protestant work ethic, the importance of social order and the value of in-group loyalty. And this isn't the esoteric ramblings of bigots, it has a fairly solid empirical basis in social psychology. You can delineate between "smart" and "stupid" values and pin the stupid values like opposition to gay marriage on the social conservatives, and then claim the latter doesn't exist. . . But it's pretty clear it does exist in a politically meaningful way, and it's disingenuous to disregard the entire thing by redefining it into a paradigm of stupidity.

i'd put class above me
and i'd put mad max above everyone else how could you forget him
You and Class are about the same. Max hasn't been around for a while; totally forgot the faggot. But I wouldn't put Max above either Class or you. You're both socialists and pretty progressive. Max is just a social democrat.

I'll pose the same question for left wingers - mostly cause I wanna see your list for that one.
I'm not very good at ranking people; there's an incredibly large asymmetry in information. I'll give it a go, though:
- Verbatim. - Class. - Cindy. - Luciana. - Challenger. - You.
Those are the names of "left-wingers" which immediately comes to mind.
How is Challenger a liberal whatsoever? He's literally obsessed with "family values".
He is super liberal when it comes to economics.

Do we have more conservatives than liberals?
Um, duh. The vast majority of active users here are conservative.
I'd be interested to know where the boundaries of conservatism lie, for you, given your ideology. How conservative am I? How about relative to Turkey and Mordo? Which of us is most conservative? Do my views on criminal justice, the War on Drugs and immigration count for nothing? How are you defining conservatism? All questions I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on.

Rule of law is a western value?
Not exclusively, but it's incorrect to suggest that it hasn't taken its strongest hold in Western Europe, the Commonwealth and the United States. Napoleon basically spread it across the Continent.

Verbatim name-dropped a bunch of people in another thread according to how right-wing they are, with Door being the most right-wing:
- Door - Mordo - Meta - Slash - Turkey
Not sure how much he stands by this list, but it's an interesting thing to consider. Who are the most "right-wing" users on the site? The most conservative? Do we have more conservatives than liberals?
Define right-wing however you want.

"Western values" are complete trash.
Right. Competition, the rule of law, property rights, a consumer culture and the Protestant work ethic never did anything for anybody. . .

The only area I could be called seriously conservative is culturally
That's literally the worst area to be conservative in
I'm a shitlord for believing in the relative superiority of Western values?
2721
« on: December 23, 2015, 09:55:33 PM »
that's the spectrum of serious forum right-wingedness, in order of descending right-wingedness
Dude, you're nuts if you think Slash is less right-wing than me and simultaneously more right-wing than Turkey. Turkey and I are on the same level, if you insist on ranking us. Gotta be honest, don't know why you think I'm that right-wing. The only area I could be called seriously conservative is culturally, other than that I'm pretty moderate/permissive.

I haven't called a single individual evil, so that point is idiotic. Organizations are evil. Politicians are usually just selfish and inept.
I also envy your ability to split hairs so finely.

It fights tooth and nail against trade unions, which are arguably the last bastions of people who actually give a shit about workers and the poor.
It must be easy viewing the world through a black-and-white lens. In some ways, I envy your childlike conception of reality.

I honestly have no idea why I even discuss things with you in Serious
Same, all you do is suck the dick of our corporate masters and spout out the conservative rhetoric.
That must be why I call Bernie Sanders evil and think all liberals want to do is just undermine the glorious and faultless West. . . Oh, wait, I'm not batshit insane like you. Spoiler Not sure how pretty strongly liberal views on criminal justice, the War on Drugs and immigration fits into your paradigm of me being a conservative shill spouting rhetoric. . . But whatever man.

"You need to be a master of economics to see the blatantly evil shit that the government does on a daily basis"
No, I'm saying you need to have a minor grasp of the field to be able to call the WTO even inept or neutral. You need to have a pretty solid grasp of trade and institutional economics to be able to call them actively damaging (which, by the way is an opinion I hold of the World Bank based on the work of development economists). It's a whole other ballpark to call them actively evil.

It's only because of people like you Yes, damn me, it's my fault not everybody loves each other. It's got absolutely nothing to do with the fact that we're basically no better than chimpanzees biologically. . .

« on: December 23, 2015, 09:34:32 PM »
Things like supporting GMOs, letting evil organizations like the WTO run free, those are the acts that would be eliminated if we had a shift of consciousness and elected leaders who didn't have this apish "you or me" mentality.
Tell me all about how much biology and economics and political science you've studied. . . Oh, wait, can you hear that? Chugga chugga chuggaIt's the black helicopters. I honestly have no idea why I even discuss things with you in Serious; you always end up making ridiculously stupid points and calling people and organisations and technologies you find distasteful "evil" despite the fact that you have absolutely no solid empirical evidence--or even experience in those fields--to support your outlandish claims. But, hey, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. . .
