Theresa May made a surprise announcement today: early general on June 8th.
Tories will bomb It, Labour will be crushed. 123

Serious / Re: The paradox of serious« on: April 17, 2017, 08:53:03 AM »Typing a couple paragraphs explaining your thoughts on the matter isn't what I'd call a highly-demanding exertion of effort. Maybe it's because I love to write, and I love having hard-line opinions on everything, but calling that sort of thing "high effort posting" speaks volumes to me of your unwillingness to exert even the minimum effort, which is really all that's being asked of you.To be fair I used to do 'high-effort posting' as you describe, and that's what I was thinking of when I used the term, but it's probably the wrong term to use for this discussion broadly. My point is that it really isn't worth doing anything besides pasting news stories because the discussion value on this board is so low. Hell, even posting the news is barely worth doing. And, like Challenger said, we all pretty much know where the others stand, and if we don't we could probably make an educated guess. 128
Serious / The paradox of serious« on: April 17, 2017, 08:14:32 AM »
So there's been some noises made previously about low-effort OPs on the Serious board consisting of just quoted articles and no commentary or discussion-steering from the OP, with me being a prime example.
But what's the point? Activity on this site isn't high enough--especially not on the Serious board--to warrant high effort posting. The effort just isn't rewarded with stimulating discussion. And I mean, you could argue that more high-effort posting would lead to greater activity but I don't think anybody can think on this topic for an extended period of time and seriously reach that conclusion. 129

The Flood / Re: IT'S A MOTHERFUCKING TRAIN BITCHES, CHOO CHOOOOO ALL ABOARD« on: April 11, 2017, 10:30:20 AM »How goes the battle against depressionVery, very well. Been on 50mg sertraline for two weeks now, with minimal side effects, and am to increase my dose to 100mg over the next few days. A lot of it is some kind of placebo from just knowing I'm on medication, but the difference is night and day. No more chronic emptiness, no more daily suicidal ideation; life is actually fucking worth living. I still have the occasional moment; but that's all they are, moments. I've probably been drinking a bit too much, but I plan on cutting down over the next few weeks. Nevertheless, it's a lot better than just getting stoned and binging on stimulants. I've also had no cravings whatsoever for MDMA. For the first time in a long, long while the tunnel looks like it has an end. 138

This is the full PM he sent me:
Quote I know it's your own to choose but the fact that you show any kind of regret shows that you know you're going down the wrong road with drugs. I won't try to guilt trip you on this but I'll speak plainly because you're already doing it to yourself. You're wallowing in it. And now he'll never know just how much me improving my life is down to his words. How much of my motivation comes from him and the example he could set even over a forum. He died without knowing his effort really did make a difference. Goddamn. 143

Sandtrap messaged me some long-ass message when I was depressed. Telling me to keep my chin up and sort my life out. I didn't reply.
Idk if he saw my thread about kicking drugs and getting on medication, but I hope he did. And I wish I had replied to him, to let him know his efforts weren't in vain. But now he's gone and isn't coming back. And it sucks. Don't let what you didn't say become a regret. Just say it. I cried when I read Psy's post, and Challenger made a point about how we were often too lazy or dismissive to consider him. And many of us have been. Yeah, I don't know where the fuck I was going with this post. But. . . Yeah. I'll fucking miss him. 146
