Common core is making children dumber.
And yet Kentucky showed an increase in high school graduation from 80pc to 86pc over the course of three years.
Y'know, for people willing to (rightly) attack the one-size-fits-all approach, you really are all too willing to use a one-size-fits-all criticism.
the reason graduation is going up is because of these lowered standards, built by idiots for idiots, so that smart people who WANT to learn and succeed can be held back. you don't seem to understand the concept so let me spell it out for you. Common core lowers standards and allows dumber people to pass on instead of fucking learning the shit they need to learn for the real world. those 6% that are now passing are passing because of lowered standards, and allowing dumbasses who don't know the material to just go on through.

What exactly is the problem here?
Are you fucking allergic to numberlines?
number lines are a retarded, impractical method of learning subtraction for all the special snowflakes who ate glue back in kindergarten, it's never used in the real world and never should be used.
The most troubling thing is that the parent with a BSc admits to not being able to get the correct answer using the number line.
Impractical or not, that's unnerving.
it's not unnerving that a retarded method of doing basic subtraction is forgotten, and replaced by efficient means. it's simply proof that the method is retarded.

Well, obviously. But let's not pretend that number lines are anything new, nor are they used in anything above 3rd grade math. It's not like we're teaching kids algebra with number lines and shit.
the farthest number lines should be used is kindergarten, that's the issue. By that point you should be able to grasp the concept of subtraction and addition and be able to scale up without the usage of a number line. Once you pass basic subtraction of 20-5 and the like, numberlines have no place in education.

Like my dad said (he was a farmer when he was younger. before I was born.)
"these experts don't know a god damn thing, first, when I was growing up on the farm they were saying that putting trees up at the edge of your plots was bad for the crops, and left the crop at the edge without enough nutrient to survive.
Then the rain came and washed out all the nutrients that the trees normally catch and now we were left with half as many crops due to the lack of nutrients.
10 years of this then the "experts" have a big breakthrough and "learn" that the trees are a good thing again."

I think that we should stay where we are until we have people who aren't complete noobs like me.. and everyone has at least a little combat experience.
The problem is finding decent fights to get that combat experience. The Emerald VS have a reputation for being extreme tryhards. They do not like "fun" fights. Any even fight with the VS usually ends with the VS dropping multiple platoons on a location to end the fight in less than 60 seconds, then just redeploy and do the same thing all over again. Because of this, when playing VS I have to stick to relatively small skirmishes, because all the big "fights" are just giant, one-sided zergfests with no enemies to shoot. TR and NC actively avoid fighting the VS because of this. At least if we go TR, we can always go to an epic tug-of-war with the NC.
This is basically what every VS fight is like...
but playing VS will give noobs a sense of empowerment so they can lose it as soon as they become TR or NC... you can't crush an ego if the person is a blank slate.

I'm fine with it so long as the current legal limitations are in place. No further than the first trimester. No cold feet last second abortions.
