If I had to buy a new gun, a revolver would be the last on the list because it can't exactly be fixed up like normal handguns.
Revolvers are expensive.
They're expensive NOW, but the original intent of the Revolver was to be a cheap, quick draw alternative to a rifle, and thus they were never really built with replaceable parts because they were throw away firearms in the times that they were made.
