Except they are in michigan. Long johns in michigan are any pastry shaped like that, filled with anything or nothing. Eclairs are cream filled, usually with very minimal pastry. And, much more true to the original name of the pastry. The word comes from French éclair 'flash of lightning', so named because it is eaten quickly (in a flash). From your own wiki article.
