Gaming / Re: Playing Fallout 3« on: November 17, 2015, 01:41:37 PM »how about we kill Howard and bring totally not Chris avellone, Christoph Excalibur into BGS as the lead designer?Granted, New Vegas did a much better job with making perk choices matter than FO3 or FO4 (seems to), but Bethesda doesn't really seem to give a shit about whatever changes Obsidian made in their installment. It's not like FO3 didn't have a similar problem. Nine of the perks just added points to stats, seven were simple damage bonuses, five that increased your accuracy, four altered your rad/damage resistances, and most of the rest just offset fuck ups and low skills (25% cheaper bartering, +30 HP, another chance to pick locks, fast sneaking, child at heart, strong back, etc) or extended the use of objects (longer lasting chems, half as likely to become addicted). There are only a couple of "unique" perks, such as Mysterious Stranger, Cannibal, and Mister Sandman.yeah, I forgot about this. Todd was never very good at designing interesting stuff for his game. 142

Gaming / Re: Playing Fallout 3« on: November 17, 2015, 01:22:21 PM »Honestly, call me silly but I like the new system, the old skill system was pretty simple, and it made skills like lockpicking have no difference between having like 25 and 49, so there was a bunch of wasted points as you tried to hit the 25/50/75/100 milestones to unlock the next tier computer or lockbut that still works better than removing perks to fill in what skills already did. 144
Gaming / Re: Playing Fallout 3« on: November 17, 2015, 12:58:06 PM »There's 70 perks, each usually with multiple levels bringing the total to 270 somethingoh yeah, I love bringing the percentages of the buff I got from 20% to 40%. Please tell me you're joking. 145
Gaming / Re: Playing Fallout 3« on: November 17, 2015, 12:55:08 PM »What happened with SPECIAL was nice. I like how they managed to make charisma actually matter. However I don't think I'm ever going to appreciate the removal of skills simply because skills were basically shoved into perks, removing the variety of perks from the game. How many perks were there total? 70? Fallout3 had more than that. Games should have MORE variety as the progress in the series, not less. And don't get me started on pipe guns.Honestly, the removal of skills into this new perk system hasn't been as bad as I would have thought. It still adds some depth to it if you ask me since you still put how much damage something has into something. I like how you can mess with your special too and specialize into something.^honestly I really liked the gameplay. The removal of skills and focus on perks did exactly what I expected, by condensing skills in just a bunch of boring shit and removing depth from the game, making mods the main way to create damage instead of a micromanagement, the removal of repair basically just removing more depth, ect. 146

But the gunplay was really nice and the atmosphere was more like fallout 1's, which is better than the train wreck that was 3's. 147
Gaming / Re: Playing Fallout 3« on: November 17, 2015, 12:31:13 PM »All this talk about New Vegas makes me realize just how shit the dialogue wheel/diversity of it is in Fallout 4. That's going to be the main complaint after the first wave of playthroughs and hype settles down. I just know it is.A baby is drowning. Fallout 1: Ask for more information Save the baby Decide not to save the baby Piss off the NPC you're talking to, failing the quest Give away too much info making it easier for the super mutants to track your vualt Fallout 2: Ask for more information Save the baby Decide not to save the baby Piss off the NPC you're talking to, failing the quest *popculture references internally* Fallout 3: Save the baby Eat the baby [Speech] Give me money to save the baby New Vegas: Save the baby Don't save the baby [Speech 30] Go save the baby yourself, NPC [Barter 30] I'll save that baby for 100 caps [Survival 20/30] Uhh, I think I can swim? Fallout 4: Yes No (yes) Sarcastic (yes) What's a baby? 148
Gaming / Re: Playing Fallout 3« on: November 17, 2015, 12:25:09 PM »the vast majority of my playthroughs had me at 7 luck. The game always gets really easy when you have unlimited everything.Dead Money was the best dlc for basically turning your character into a god.The payout was worth it tho eh?...all the caps from the goldThat was so fucking difficult.Play New Vegas for Old World Blues and Lonesome Road.No Dead Money? :c 149
Gaming / Re: List your favorite franchise's games from best to worst« on: November 17, 2015, 12:22:00 PM »Level design in Dark Souls 2 was boring. Gameplay was better than DS1 if it wasn't for the HORRIBLE HITBOXES AND THEM TYING YOUR I-FRAMES TO A SKILL INSTEAD OF YOUR WEIGHT!let's not forget how the majority of the weapons were just reskins of five different main weapons. And soul memory. And that goddamn hp creel we've been seeing since DaS1 got really bad in DaS2. The only thing that I really liked about ds2 was how much variety your builds could have. But even then it wasn't enough for me to so a second playthrough. 150
