If you want to quit, buy a mini hookah and get some flavored cane molasses over tobacco products. It's fairly cheap. The coffee flavored shisha was nice, but I only used it once or twice in an attempt to rid of my gum chewing habit.

a better example to cite would be jpeg, where the "p" stands for "photographic"
The rules of acronyms do not particularly follow grammar. As I stated before with "laser" (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation). Also, The General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) is pronounced with a hard G, despite it having "General" initially. The pronunciation of this acronym does not matter at all. It's a "Potato/Potato" situation with .gif, but the ones that actually make images in this format have the tenancy to pronounce it much like how the creator did.
