Faith is a very personal thing, you can't really dictate what others must believe in for their religion to be legit. Just because the bible says both exist doesn't mean that you must believe in both to consider yourself to be a Christian.

That being said, I am an atheist, I'm not pushing for religion here. I'm just saying that it's up to every person to define their faith themselves.
I would type a lot, but i am liimited to onev hand. Yoy're an idiot.
I could claim that you must believe in pink flying elephants to be a Christian, but that doesn't make it true.

Religion is personal. It's not all or nothing, black and white. You don't have to believe in the entire bible to be "legit".
That's like saying that you don't need an outlet for electricity, because electricity is energy, and you can generate your own energy by moving.
No, it's like saying you need to live out in the woods and live off the land to save electricity, and that turning off the light when you exit a room and saving a little bit doesn't count, and that you either have to use a ton of electricity all the time or nothing at all.
I found the perfect one for it.

It's like saying that if you're truly someone who wants to consume as little energy as possible, you shouldn't even use any at all. The best way to save energy, is by not using it.

You're not environmental friendly if you use a little electricity, because you're still hurting the environment.
That's true for religion if you want to be a fundamentalist.

Most religious people aren't, and on top of that, it's up to them to decide if they want to be.
I get it. I just don't agree with it.

Someone can proclaim them self to be god, but I'm not going to be okay with that and say "you're allowed to be whatever you want".

I've always thought how is Satan such a bad being if all he does is punish bad people?
He leads people to bad things.

If you don't think of Satan as an overwhelming spirit, and you aren't afraid, then it's obvious that you feel the same for your God. You don't really buy into it.

For one to exist, the other must exist as well, but many don't think of Satan, but rather that God is the one who does the punishing, and the decision making. They don't believe in that Satan is the one that lures people into drinking alcohol, and that is not acceptable if you believe in God a lot.

You must believe in both sides if you truly buy into it. Go ahead and be a phony, but I'm just telling you to stop tricking yourself.

This is, practically verbatim, what my philosophy teacher said today.

I got into a heated debate with her about the Danish cartoonist and I said "my rights don't end where somebody else's feelings begin". She said "why not?" She went on to claim that since the cartoonist knew there'd be controversy and knew it'd cause offence, and intended there to be, he deserved to be legally prosecuted.

We both got really heated and I told her you can have fascism or free speech,  not both. It ended with her saying she's entitled to her opinion and she wouldn't change her mind.

I'm genuinely disgusted and disturbed that a teacher in a liberal,  21st century nation can even begin to entertain the idea that freedom of expression can be limited in such an arbitrary way.

It's bloody disgusting.
You sound pretty stupid, Meta. If this happened to me, I'd end the conversation with the fact that being offended isn't the same for everyone. A non-offensive thing is considered offensive to some. A thumbs up for example, mean stick it up your pooper, and "good job".

Who is the judge that says whether something was intentional or not? Why does she have the power?

Don't attack her argument, question it in some ways that she will attack it for herself, and it will ultimately attack the defense and breach the gate of denial.

If you're at a conflict with something, question it so that you understand fully what she means, and then show your side of the story, and try everything out. Ask every question that's in your head, and bothering you.

Perhaps she might convince you, or alternatively you know every side of her argument, and you can use it against her, but no, be the stupid brat that you are.

However, I'd advise the rule maker to be more lenient on these kinds of threads, but still have an iron grip if things are pushed outside of the line.
So now we're all of a sudden talking about leniency when it comes to applying the rules and a certain "line" that can't be crossed.

Your good and objective rule is now no longer flawless and relies on the ultimately subjective interpretation of whichever member of the staff dealing with it.

Moderation on a forum is not that different from a real life state, you know. Only here, there's no real separation of powers. You have the admin coming up with the rules in agreement with his staff (I firmly believe this process should include the entire community and not just a select few, but that's beside the question) as the legislative branch would, and then these rules are applied by moderators who take on the role of judges. They interpret the law and apply it to concrete situations. If you're not happy with a decision, you can appeal in public and with Cheat.

It's not a bad system. It just needs to be more transparent and more of a two-way street.
It is a bad system, and you seem to have understood me wrong.

I am okay with tyranny, but I want there to be rules that you can follow, and accuse others of not following. These rules are just lazy.

As long as they're applied fairly and actual transparency is promoted, I don't have a problem with these rules.
Come now, you don't honestly believe that all threads will be treated equally, do you? With no rules to follow, and only guidelines, the ninjas will go into different mind sets. Some will deem some threads to be an offense, whereas others are okay with it. Some will see another thread as okay, while it's an offense in the eyes of someone else.
No...shit? I don't know how many Internet forums you've been on but all are like this. Mods are humans too, they have their own opinions and personalities. They are going to find some things offensive and others not but if it goes against the rules they are going to correct it. And reality check, rules are guidelines.
Which is why I want better rules, dumbass. Have you been reading my replies, are have you been dilly-dallying?
You cannot change the human nature of mods.

How about this one?
1. No threads about any other users what so ever, and if it resembles that of another user with two marks, or traits, then it will be removed.

An example: "I met this psychologist guy that moderated my intake on apple juice. frack the psychologist mod!"

That has many traits that are similar to Mr Psychologist, a mod.
So, making a thread titled "I love Zesty" or "So I was playing Halo and ran into ChallengerX" would be a bannable offense?
If that is the rule that the Admin made, then obviously yes. It's apparent that it's against the rules, and must then be followed. However, I'd advise the rule maker to be more lenient on these kinds of threads, but still have an iron grip if things are pushed outside of the line.

Sometimes, too much about one user could make the user feel uneasy about the thread being made about him/her, and thus my point of objective rules with good footings need to be put down. These rules need to be considered in every way.

You can't be this simple minded.

All forums are like that to a greater or lesser degree. All we need to be concerned about is whether Cheat has the spine to start sacking when mods start fracking up the spirit of the site.
I believe that this is our first encounter, and I must say that you bring up a good point.

Additionally if we want to be proactive about things we can push as a community to get more mods like Slash who let practically anything go when Cheat comes down from his castle to ask us peasents for ascent to his plans.
Not to my liking. I only want moderators to moderate the forums, not to have a say in things. Oh shit, I perfectly summarized this whole thread in that sentence.

We do this once. We do this twice. We do this three times. We do this four times, or we alternatively, set down solid rules. The whole process would be unfair, as Cheat might be subjective as well, and thus rules that are good, and objective, would be much more efficient.
On the off-chance that you aren't just trolling, why don't you tell me what you think proper objective and good rules would look like?

Research how? What is it that they're supposed to research, and how are they supposed to research it?

If you're researching the average temperature of fire, then it'd be wise to measure the temperature of many fires, of various sizes, but what you shouldn't just say that they need to research it.
Mainly risk assessment (health risks and consequences for non-modified foods) and research on what the introduction of GMO's would mean for the global market and development of third world countries.
I foresaw your answer, and thus I wrote "and how?", but you ignored it.

I don't really see how this could affect the third world countries worse than it already is. I can only see improvement. We're already fucking shit up, but if we fuck it up enough, we can fuck up Earth as a whole together as humans.

No one is forcing you to be here, if you don't like them then leave,
You have the ability to put your house on fire, but you don't have to. This isn't the case for pyromaniacs though, because you see, some have an urge so big that they have to do it, even though they know that it's wrong.
The rules are fair enough stop talking crap. As long as you don't do stupid shit you should be fine, though you seem to have a lot of trouble with that part.

Do you think that Saruman was fair as well? No? Well maybe you would if you were his apprentice. This is the same case, and so I'm asking you to stop with your constant idiocy
Now we're talking about Lord of the Rings? frack it throw in some Halo and Shrek too.

Which Shrek movie is your favorite? Did you enjoy Halo 4's ending?

Room for interpretation is a necessary evil. If a ninja crosses the line, it's up to the community to speak up about it and for Cheat to make the final decision.

This should probably be in Serious.

I personally have no issues with using genetically modified foods, but there needs to be more research done and a strong legal basis has to be created so that it doesn't end up pushing third world countries into more poverty.
