I believe in Yahweh. Why? I've got a big scar on my back. Lucky to be born, lucky to be alive.
Long story short: I wanted to know who this "God" I learned about at church was. I wanted more than just reading the bible, I wanted God to be as real to me as He was to Moses, Abraham, Paul etc. I wanted to personally encounter Christ.
I got what I yearned for. And I'm now a Christian before anything else.
I nearly died at birth.
DOCTORS saved me by performing surgery. Not god. Please don't thank some imaginary being if doctors saved your life by performing surgery on you too.
Doctors saved you, but they didn't save me.
I had a 50/50 chance and there was nothing they could do.
And thankfully you made it through.
But it wasn't god. What about the kids that die at birth? You and me survived, but what about them? All part of his "divine plan"?
You're seeing things that aren't there because you want to believe everything is going according to plan and the world isn't this chaotic mess with no reason or rhyme. Any visions you've had of god or anything you've heard that you think is god, you're imagining/exaggerating or you have some sort of mental problem. Maybe even a tumor.
I don't have mental problems. And I don't have much of an imagination anymore honestly. Yes its all part of this ultimate plan. The world being chaotic, is part of the plan. Why are things getting worse? Revelation tells you what happens. All those kids who die at birth, yeah that's part of God's divine plan. There is a reason they didn't survive. Your tempted to simply look at just the child and say "God didn't give them a chance." But maybe that child's death finally broke the mother's hardened heart? Or caused the father to see that life isn't worth wasting? I notice a common theme here. The users who don't believe are pretty prone to call the religious users retarded or claim that they have medical problems. Quit being so defensive over the fact that we have a hope you do not.

>implying kids learning strong morality and to love one another isn't for the best.
>Christianity
>being a source of morality
This fucking guy
Fixed, and thanks.
Are you trying to say that Christianity isn't a source of morality but other religions are?
Or are you trying to say it's the only one that is?
I don't get what you're trying to do with that post
You know I'm a christian. You don't have to play dumb, I'm obviously saying Christianity is a source of morality. Challenger, seriously? Actually contribute to the discussion or don't post. I've said nothing to you, what are you mad about now?

>implying kids learning strong morality and to love one another isn't for the best.
>implying they need to be told lies and be made to believe in fairy tales is necessary to achieve that
I'm not implying or saying that at all. But hey, say what you want.
Did you not just imply that it would be better to teach children the teachings of the bible rather than subjects like science?
*facepalms No. Both are necessary, you just group the Christian Faith with fairy tales simply because you don't believe it. That's quite arrogant of you to believe yourself absolutely right on that matter. I have things to do today, and you aren't really contributing to the conversation, so I'm done for today. Maybe later I'll pick it back up.

tl;dr I wanted god to be real so I convinced myself he was
No convincing dude. I won't believe or devote myself to a lie. So something very real had to happen for me to believe in God.
And that was...? Your not really offering up any evidence or your belief besides your 50/50 chance thing, which is just luck. Your telling me every time I flip a coin, it's a miracle if it lands on heads?
I have explained this multiple times. I didnt feel like typing it all out. It pretty much summed it up, I have plenty of anecdotal evidence for myself.

Exactly: KIDS
would they rather: >learn chemistry >read
pick one.
Exactly: KIDS
would they rather >eat nothing but junk food >eat healthy
>go to school and learn >stay home and play video games
pick one of each.
You really are making an impressively bad argument here. They're children. Non-adults that have no sense of responsibility. They lack the ability to plan ahead or do what's best for themselves. It's why the evil grownups make the decisions and sometimes force the child to do what's best even when it doesn't realize it, like not eating an entire bag of candy for breakfast or taking fairy tales for truth rather than actually learning something in school.

How do you get banned from the flood, who would disown one of their own? Where are the fucking protests? Get those kids unbanned.
Keyword there was "kids". If the Flood is to remain healthy and strong, it must cut away the baggage. Basically, the Flood just lost 200 pounds of fat and is starting to look ripped.

Because I have differing opinions than you? LOL I would never hate someone who has different opinions. Thats what Bigots do.
PSU has simply disagreed with others' opinions. Funny how people mock us for our belief, when we haven't provoked anyone.
Dude, PSU has been trolling Bnet for years now.
He's a parody of conservative stereotypes.
You agreeing with PSU is hilarious.
I am?
Go ahead brotha. Prove it. Prove I'm trolling.
I don't need proof.
I have faith.
You definitely need empirical evidence.
>needs empirical proof >believes in God
ok guy.
There was a REASON I quoted RustingFloor.
HE needs empirical evidence. Sheesh.
And as for me, I have a ton of my own personal anecdotal evidence. I have enough for myself.
Yes, I understand what you were saying. I just think it's funny you demand that other people have empirical evidence to support their claims, but not yourself.
Im not saying that. I'm saying he personally requires empirical evidence to believe in something. Which is ironic because he joked saying "I have faith".
