Serious / Re: Pastor to gays: "I pray that you will commit suicide"« on: December 08, 2014, 02:45:13 PM »it always becomes 100% about my beliefs.Actually it evolved from a discussion about the pastor's expressions to the biblical nature of homosexuality and sin, and Max asking how you could split the difference between the person and the acts since nobody chooses to be gay. To which you articulated the point that you don't think it's a choice. 1) once again, opinions are nice aren't they? 2) yeah, this is obviously about my beliefs and not the topic I think I've made it abundantly clear what Christianity is truly about: loving people and loving God.Your scripture would indicate otherwise. But I'm done Icy. Let the discussion continue. 17378
Serious / Re: Pastor to gays: "I pray that you will commit suicide"« on: December 08, 2014, 02:37:00 PM »not other people being questioned, but simply me. That is why. That's probably because people feel the need to question you since you pretty much refuse to engage in any meaningful and developmental discussion from the word go. I find it a waste of time. I enjoy: A + B = C I agree or disagree because of this, explains the reasoning behind it, and its done. The point of this thread was The Pastor's attitude towards homosexuality. Not whether homosexuality is a choice. you see what I mean? We are on a whole other subject here. Every thread is this way, that is my point. It's no longer about the topic, it always becomes 100% about my beliefs. 17379
Serious / Re: Pastor to gays: "I pray that you will commit suicide"« on: December 08, 2014, 02:29:27 PM »I simply stated my views. You however ask me 1,000 questions any time I post in here. That's usually because I need to question it in order to understand where you're coming from, since it's so far removed from anything I'm even familiar with. But I don't really understand why you come to a website around discussion - especially the serious section - and then get annoyed when people try to facilitate such discussion. I don't post in here because it is time consuming. It becomes pages of, not other people being questioned, but simply me. That is why. 17380

You aren't the only one who has them. 17384

Are you for real? you don't know a single person who has changed their sexual preference? That's highly unlikely. I've seen it many times throughout High School. 17387

This conversation isn't going anywhere clearly. Let's just end it here. I'm done wasting my time. 17388
Serious / Re: Pastor to gays: "I pray that you will commit suicide"« on: December 08, 2014, 02:07:40 PM »Why do you insist on ignoring science and research on the subject that indicates otherwise? It's not just popular opinion. Science and research also indicate that it isn't a choice. We all sin. There's a difference between sinful acts which you have control over, and being gay. You don't choose to be gay. If God created someone that way, and being gay is sinful, that's a pretty shitty thing for him to do. How many people have been gay then later became straight? If people are hard-wired to be attracted to one gender, why do people flip-flop on that? 17389

God Himself, so in referring to the Bible you are wrong.None of the moral teachings of the Bible require religious devotion to fulfill. >loving your neighbor >loving God >gathering together to worship >preaching the Gospel to the lost >helping those in need >living according to the Bible's teachings, to Jesus' teachings You don't need ceremony to show religious devotion. 17391

If God created someone that way, and being gay is sinful, that's a pretty shitty thing for him to do. I do believe it is a choice. But do I think being gay is unnatural? Of course not. Because we have a sin-nature. We are naturally selfish, self-preservation and all that. Do people have a choice? To me they do. But they are "inclined" to do sinful acts. In case you haven't noticed, we aren't going to convince each other of anything. This is always pointless. 17392

Although, I feel compelled to say that wise teachings is not an inference of divinity. This is Jesus we're talking about, He IS the authority. God Himself, so in referring to the Bible you are wrong. If you mean your own views, well obviously I can't help that. 17393

Serious / Re: Pastor to gays: "I pray that you will commit suicide"« on: December 08, 2014, 01:47:00 PM »But the Bible clearly states that being gay isn't cool. How many Pastors have lusted after a woman in their life? Lied? We all sin. So we all aren't cool in that area. But we can have redemption for free. 17397

Don't even try that, you read my thread detailing my beliefs. They aren't something I made up, they are straight from Jesus' Greatest commandment. A "greatest Commandment" trumps all others. Serious / Re: Pastor to gays: "I pray that you will commit suicide"« on: December 08, 2014, 01:42:28 PM »I'm not sure, been a while since I've cracked my bible open. Is there any scripture that says tolerating gays is a sin? If not that would imply that it's OK to tolerate them but that they'll got to hell if they keep porking others of the same sex.But wouldn't that mean that anyone, gay, straight, or otherwise, could not be a Christian if they were accepting of gays?it's well known that many religious people interpret their particular holy book in ways that conform to their pre-conceived values. taken at face value the bible literally says that homosexuality is a sin and an affront to god.But there are plenty of hetero Christians that don't believe there's anything wrong with being gay and still are Christian. Can gays not believe the same?No more than a black person can believe in white supremacy.A gay person wanting to be accepted into a religion is like a black guy wanting to join the KKK.So a gay person cannot believe in God? You don't go to Hell for "being gay". You go to Hell because of sin. Performing homosexual acts is seen as sin. So, performing the acts. Do we all have sinful desires? Heck yes we do. We're all sinners. The only reason people get to heaven is because of Christ's forgiveness, not because we did the right thing enough. There will be many people who were Gay, in Heaven. There will be many people who were drunkards, abusers, anything under the sun. Why? because they repented. Nobody is beyond forgiveness. 17399

When people stop reading the bible and simply buy into what any Preacher says. I think I've made it abundantly clear what Christianity is truly about: loving people and loving God. 17400

I'm usually staying up late anyways, so I could probably fill that gap around the later part. However sometimes I'm busy from 6p.m to 9 p.m due to work. I can sometimes get all of that time slot, but I can almost always get the latter half of it. |
