In fact the only things that necessarily matter to a conscious being are the things that happen in its life.
And none of that matters when you will eventually die.
and why should that matter to you?
Why does what matter to me?
Nothing does matter.
. . .in an objective sense, no. That doesn't change the fact that conscious beings experience and the things they experience matter TO THEM.
But in reality the experiences don't matter.
if by that you mean there isn't an outside reference point from which objective value can be imposed then yes.

Value, or whether a thing matters or not, is a product of consciousness and depends on the consciousness you ask.

I just don't see a point in anything. We're all going to die anyway so why all this filler in between we may as well just cut to the chase.
Babby had his first bout of existential angst.

What's so great about death, why jump ahead and miss the scenery?
it's definitely not the I've first time felt like this. Usually I don't bother making a thread about it.
I didn't mean to sound like I was down playing it.

I just don't see why the fact we're going to die invalidates our lives.

In fact the only things that necessarily matter to a conscious being are the things that happen in its life.

All I can really think of is that you're probably already depressed and music just brings it out.

Kupo hit the nail on the head.
Wouldn't I know if I were perpetually depressed?
Hmm, not necessarily <.<
And I wouldn't say you are perpetually depressed either, unless you have dysthymia that is...

I would hazard a guess at the depression you had still being present even if it's not active as such <.<

I couldn't really tell without going over a whole bunch of questions with ya, and I don't know if the mains are the most appropriate place for that >.>

Serious / Re: Another physics question -- Dimensions
« on: November 15, 2014, 05:28:21 PM »
Point particles of Quantum field theory and curvature singularities(should they actually exist) are 0-dimensional. Cosmic strings(the topological kind) should they exist would be one-dimensional.

So on.

I'm the opposite music makes me happy no matter what.

3133
Wait I got it?

Mmhmm!

Actual question was to give a formal proof for it but that's another story for another time I guess XD

Spoiler
I might just do some small breakdowns of basic mathematical logic for people. Seems like people are interested in this stuff. And it's a way to keep me with math in Serious while still not breaching the Turkeyzone XD
I don't know a whole lot about formal proof. The one on mathematical inference could be fun.

I know He's real
lol
If he isn't real then how do we have a universe from nothing? According to the laws of physics, our universe shouldn't exist, yet it does. We can only come to the conclusion that there must have been a supernatural act or being able to bypass the laws of physics and create the universe from nothing. The only other possibility is that the laws of physics are wrong, but you'd have to incredibly naive and scientifically illiterate to come to that conclusion. Honestly, you really have to be a complete retard, so you just can't go there. God is the only way, the only scientific way, really.
Dustin pls.
Too bad, I read it before the edit

Have you been studying?
...sometimes. I've been going to tutors for the past month or so. Normally study for at least an hour for Chemistry before every quiz.
Where are you going to school?
University of Detroit Mercy. Why do you ask?
I was just wondering if your schools classes were just hard.

What we're dealing w/ here is the decay of the power of electromagnetic radiation as it passes through a medium and since you're trying to get it to travel a certain distance to a collector we can just use the intensity, which power per unit area.

The relevant equation should look something like this.

I=I0e-k

k being a decay constant likely based on the properties of the medium and the particular wavelength you're dealing w/.

You also have to consider how mobile you want your Spartans to be.
