Yes, meatbags only exist to further the progress of science.

But seriously, no. Not even on the worst scum in the world.
So. . .I can't experiment on meatbags?

Yes and No >.>

I suppose a civilization could take up habitation around black holes for energy, that would last a super long time.
how would that work?
Hawking radiation perhaps.

Never.
Elaborate. Unless you're joking.

Well, never at least until we evolve away from humans.

I'm not pessimistic about our future as a race. I'm sure that there'll be setbacks and all that, but I think that, ultimately, we will continue to develop and evolve until we get to the point that it is impossible for us to go extinct. Obviously, I can't be sure, no one can, but I just don't see us ever fucking up so badly that we go away.

I ask you to elaborate because I'm fairly certain everybody else in here is just doing what our ancestors have been doing for centuries.

Oh yeah, that kind of talk annoys me. No, this generation isn't worse than the last one, no, today's world isn't more immoral than yesterday's, and no god damn it, the world isn't going to end any time soon.
Don't physics make any kind of system impossible to last forever?
Entropy and an accelerating expansion of the universe yes but the nature of systems like we're talking about here makes it pretty much impossible to predict an end date much beyond, "some point in the future".

I mean what you're talking is on the order of trillions of years m8.
Is that how long it's going to take for the Universe to collapse back in on itself?
Depends which model you use. So far, as far as we can tell, our universe is headed for endless expansion and heat death. Trillions of years is the estimated time for the last of the stars to burn out. I suppose a civilization could take up habitation around black holes for energy, that would last a super long time.

Dude you are on fire right now
Lots of time surfing wikipedia, futurist websites and cosmology foundations. Ideas tend to stick.

I find myself questioning the naturalistic fallacy on these grounds.
Mere coincidence. Rape is also fairly natural.

Think of it like a hierarchy, with more sophisticated emotions catering to more sophisticated social structures.
Yeah, I see what you're saying.

3043
but it's possible that psychopathy is the next evolutionary step for humanity.
Have you ever noticed how any intelligent species with a decently functioning social order has a capacity for empathy?

It's quite literally the emotional foundation for all of civilisation.
I find myself questioning the naturalistic fallacy on these grounds. Maybe I'm dumd.

So it's just really ergonomic.

3045
I almost feel like I'm hardwired to feel empathy. I can come to the logical conclusion that psychopathy is probably the most effective evolutionary mindset, but I can't actually hurt other people for the betterment of myself.
We evolved to be cooperative and social. Evolutionarily speaking,  psychopathy isn't all its cut out to be.

With our current understanding, yeah.
that edge tho
I don't mean that our understanding is flawed; I certainly don't understand it enough to say that. I don't think that, either, but I also don't underestimate our abilities given enough time.
it is tho. Our understanding of reality will only ever be approximate. Gödel's theorems m8.

Scified shared the images (first reported on by GrooveBricks.com) of upcoming LEGO sets that show a dinosaur with translucent skin and red eyes. This beast is apparently what leads to the chaos in the first film."

sounds, b-movie. . .
I was hoping the DNA splicing rumors were false... So people would actually get bored of seeing living breathing dinosaurs for the first time that you would have to create new ones? Doesn't sound that convincing to me. But I guess maybe there are some mad scientists that know no bounds.
at least it isn't half dino super soldiers like that disaster that almost happened.
