I wonder if he compared that abundance of isotopes to another body?
Could it not be those isotopes arrived there via the sun, and Mars, not having a magnetic field to deflect them just sort of collected them over the years.
Still my explanation is half baked as fuck.
I was thinking along those lines as well.
Essentially there should be more Carbon-14 in Mar's sedimentary record and atmosphere, because Carbon-14 decays naturally into Nitrogen-14. A weak magnetic field means more cosmic radiation however, so the radiation turns the 14N back to 14C. (Hooray! My Sedimentary Lectures actually applied to something!)
What makes me think this is interesting is that this physicist is stating there's more Uranium and other heavier radioactive elements, but what's doubtful is his source of info on this, and how this possibly could correlate to nuclear explosions. It could be Mars is just richer in these elements on the surface than Earth is, it's just we haven't mined it yet, like we did surface resources here because obviously we can't fucking reach it atm.
Yeah, I'd have to do a little more research on radiation and the formation of isotopes of certain elements but I'm fairly certain an explanation involving stellar radiation and abundance from formation is more plausible than a nuclear holocaust on a species living on a planet that has lacked a substantial atmosphere for most of its history. That is of course if the information of his for there actually being this abundance of isotopes is correct, like you said.

ITT: People that haven't read the bill.
"Each member of the Board shall be qualified by education, training, and experience to evaluate scientific and technical information on matters referred to the Board under this section." "at least ten percent of the membership of the Board are from State, local, or tribal governments;" "persons with substantial and relevant expertise are not excluded from the Board due to affiliation with or representation of entities that may have a potential interest in the Board's advisory activities, so long as that interest is fully disclosed to the Administrator and the public and appointment to the Board complies with section 208 of title 18, United States Code;" "in the case of a Board advisory activity on a particular matter involving a specific party, no Board member having an interest in the specific party shall participate in that activity;" "Board members shall be designated as special Government employees; and no federally registered lobbyist is appointed to the Board." You got me. Shame on me for taking this article at face value even though I should know better by now.

Truly intelligent people don't limit themselves to a label or agree with everything that label entails.
>Liberal >Conservative >Intelligent
Choose one, and only one
Just to be clear I'm only talking about people who are pragmatically conservative or liberal, and thus don't entirely conform to the retarded dichotomy.
You could qualify my conservatism with a bunch of different prefixes.

It makes sense. If you consider the more reasonable aspects of either side, all make pretty good points, and all attempt to approach problems differently. From there it'd come down to personal preference when a particular course of action is not more obviously the "correct" one.
As for your questions, it seems to be fairly evenly split, w/ a slight preference for liberalism but I think that has more to do w/ the preference of the site overall.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2014/11/20/heartbeat-bill-committee.html quoted from a reddit post:
They basically rigged the panel in order for this to pass - members expected to vote "no" were replaced. If someone could explain to me how that's not corruption, pure and simple, I'd be interested to hear.
Some background, for the scientifically-minded or the just plain curious: hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is produced by the placenta after implantation; its function is to prevent the corpus luteum from atrophying, so that progesterone can be continually secreted throughout the first trimester. In sensitive urine tests (which usually employ a monocloidal antibody specific to a particular subunit of hCG), it's detectable about ~2 weeks after conception.
The fetal heartbeat is detectable (e.g. by vaginal ultrasound) around 5-6 weeks post-conception. That gives a woman who's pregnant and wants an abortion 3-4 weeks. What if her birth control failed due to antibiotics? What if she wasn't trying to conceive, so by the time she realizes she's pregnant, it's too late, and she can't get an abortion? Not to mention, the supporters apparently want it to make it to the Supreme Court, with the hopes that Roe v. Wade could be challenged and overturned. Oh, and the bill does not allow for abortion in the case of rape or incest. What the fuck, Ohio?
Wait they're basing the cutoff on fetal heartbeat? That doesn't make much sense.
