Does the answer involve making a line perpendicular to l through p?
perhaps

Put your answer in a spoiler pls.

I certainly would be in interested in more of these, but geometry is a weak point. We've barely looked over it in my courses. We discussed the fifth postulate last week, but not much else.
if no one's able to give a solution by next Monday I'll post the answer before I do post the next exercise.

In case anyone wants to know I am pulling these exercises from some math and physics books I have lying around.

MFW proofs

They won't all be stuff like this. I just figured I'd do one because proofs are a weak point for me too.

Welp, I gave it a read and remembered why I didn't enjoy Maths.

It's all moonrunes to me.
Math is necessarily pedantic which means questions like this are gonna be wordy and awkward reading, despite not being necessarily difficult.

It's all good m9.
Heh yeaaah >.>
I've just never really been great at maths when it goes beyond the stuff you need in day to day life (Statistics are an exception). Just all the theoreticals and proofs and algebra... it's... moonrunes to me <.<

I work better with the meatbags humans and other living things >.>
proofs still do that to me. I'm not great at them by any means. I figure something like this where I have to learn them myself in order to tell who got it right is the best thing I can do.

I've been considering doing a weekly math post where I a present an exercise and have you guys give a solution. I'm fully aware that  there's maybe a handful of people that will even give this post a cursory glance, much less attempt to provide a solution. :P
Why, you ask, because I'm a miserable shit with nothing better to do. That and I figure the fact that I'll have to know the answer myself will keep me sharp.

Ready? We'll start with something basic this week, geometry.

Assuming Euclidean geometry, meaning Euclid's fifth postulate(along with the other 4)holds. Euclid's fifth postulate(also known as the parallel postulate)being
Quote
Given two straight lines A and B and a line segment C that intersects both of them forming two interior angles on one side that together are less than 2 right angles (180°/pi) then the lines A and B must eventually meet on that same side and therefor are not parallel.

Show that Playfair's axiom follows.
Quote
Given a straight line L and any point P not on L there is a single, unique line through P that is parallel to L.

I'll do another next week provided I get at least 3 attempts or a correct solution. You guys have until next week to provide a solution.

We believe Jesus is the Messiah.
Who also happens to be God.
Yes, Jesus is God in human form. The issue Isn't the denying of God, it's the denial of Jews that this individual claims to be God/Messiah
Which is exactly my point.

Their god is ontologically and metaphysically distinct from your God. It's essentially the difference between Christians and Hindus - just far less removed.
there's also the doctrine of the trinity which is heretical in Islam.

A gay person wanting to be accepted into a religion is like a black guy wanting to join the KKK.
So a gay person cannot believe in God?
No more than a black person can believe in white supremacy.
But there are plenty of hetero Christians that don't believe there's anything wrong with being gay and still are Christian. Can gays not believe the same?
it's well known that many religious people interpret their particular holy book in ways that conform to their pre-conceived values. taken at face value the bible literally says that homosexuality is a sin and an affront to god.
But wouldn't that mean that anyone, gay, straight, or otherwise, could not be a Christian if they were accepting of gays?
I'm not sure, been a while since I've cracked my bible open. Is there any scripture that says tolerating gays is a sin? If not that would imply that it's OK to tolerate them but that they'll got to hell if they keep porking others of the same sex.

If I was gay and didn't want to have to force myself into celibacy I would find a different god to worship.

Your worth is determined by the enemies you choose.

Christians are not a worthy foe. Although, amusingly, neither are gays.
