I only have a very introductory understanding of Camus and Nietzsche, I've read parts of both. Nietzsche's prose is. . .interesting though.

How likely is something like this to threaten humanity's survival?
what is it?
Yellowstone. I couldn't find any other pictures I liked or didn't have weird quirks (like comic sans on predicted national ash falls in the event of an eruption). It would be a bad day for earth, and the fallout in political and economic spheres could be devastating. The environment would suffer global nuclear winter to varying extents, but we'd all feel it.
it'll fuck up the US pretty good, volcanic winter will do a number on everyone else. It'll be costly but I'm still not convinced it'd kill us off.

East coast of the US will get an inch deep dusting of ash.

Actually the East Coast would be effected more than just by an inch, I mean the West Coast is projected to be buried under 6 feet of ash if it erupts, not to mention how heavy it is, clogging, etc. I forgot the global effects, but in summary everyone will be utterly fucked when it blows.

Edit: OH BABY A TRIPLE
hmm, alright.

climate change

It's going to be expensive. Lot of people will probably die/be displaced. Third world will probably feel the brunt of it. No way it'll wipe us out though.

Space threats, AI (which I am still in support of), nuclear war, your generic apocalypse bullshit is more likely.

Yes.

Why?
because it kicks ass

Seriously though, being able to take out a cruise missile instantaneously from miles away sounds worthwhile.

Women: Screwing men over since the beginning of man.
Not really. People like to blame Eve in that story, but when she gave Adam the apple she actually had no clue that 1. God said not to touch it and 2. that the snake was a bad guy. She had no clue. God only spoke to Adam, and when Eve gave him the apple he knew full well that he wasn't supposed to.

But yeah, history has shown that churches like to point to the story of Adam and Eve to explain why women are bad and evil.
I'm hesitant to do this after my last mishap but here

What's a tl;dr of nietzche and why should people follow his philosophy?
Nietzsche essentially argued that from the decline of religion as a result of the enlightenment, it would lead first to philosophical and political pluralism (which would lead to untold conflict in the 20th Century (bear in mind he died in 1900)), and then finally to nihilism which we'd have to face.

There's a lot of his philosophy, but it essentially revolves around three focal points. The first is that there exists a natural hierarchy among individuals (not races, or nationalities) which leads to there being "higher men" or Ubermensch who would form a new aristocracy to guide humanity. The second is the idea that our current iterations of morality - namely Judeo-Christian morality - are incredibly harmful to the human condition, and promoted behaviours and emotions which were detrimental to the flourishing of humans and, in particular, higher men. Thirdly, Nietzsche thought that the legacy of the Enlightenment was extra-rational, which removed emotion and passion from a position of importance in the human character and led us to reject our aesthetic sides; in essence, he thought high culture could replace religion, and serve to unite the community under this new aristocracy.
That sounds like something out of 40k >_____>

I like it.
Even if you disagree with everyone of the man's points you can't help but see that he was incredibly prescient about modernity.
