It's not needed at all. There have been very few polls suggesting changes to the forum (most of them go here or in The Flood, both of which I frequent and would quickly see). There's a pinned thread The Flood that literally asks what you want out of the forum, and as I've told you (and as you've already done here), you are free to make a poll for your ideas.
Then this thread has outlived its usefulness.

Note that the Covenant in Halo 4 are merely elitist Remnants who couldn't let go of the OG Covenant's backwards Religion entirely.
I'm... aware of that. One thing I did hate about Halo 4's Covenant was that they made all of the species in it minus the Hunters look like retarded dinosaurs with Down Syndrome.

Guess I only hate you 2/3 as much as I did before. :)
More like 1/2, since the second one isn't really relevant anymore. But I'll never regret nuking the first ProBoards though. That was just too much fun.

Either Halo 3, or Halo 4. Halo 3 had Flood Pure Forms, which changed the idea of the Flood from mass spam to actual quality units (despite how rage-inducing the Ranged Forms were on Cortana). And Halo 4 had the Prometheans, which I think was well done, but making them allied with the Covenant later on wasn't a good move. It would have been cool for Halo 4 to have 3-way fights in more than one mission.

I'd have to side with Halo 4 on this one. The Prometheans were really a step in a different direction than previously established.

If everything that has been said about you is true, such as you being behind the destruction of the Proboards site, stalking people through Facebook, and being the real Account # guy who is still hellbent on harassing Smiggles, then I hope all of your shit comes back to bite you.

If none of that is true, then I have no problems.
The first one is (shamelessly) true, the second one was true, but I got bored of it and since stopped, and the third isn't true.

What you're suggesting has actually been the case in a lot of the instances here. The first two mods were selected from the top picks in the moderator poll, and the Serious board was voted in, pretty much.

So, you're free to make a poll and check the forum's pulse, but these suggested ideas will still inevitably be filtered through the staff. Think of us as the ones with the veto power, I suppose.
Then why not expand upon that idea and make a dedicated section so polls wouldn't clog up the main sections?

Do you have an example of a rule everyone disagrees with? I guarantee you that if some of the users disagreed with a rule, I would be one of the people that did agree with it.
If

I'm just stating an example.

You guys have a little say. We do listen but in the end it's what Cheat wants. He's putting in all the work to make this site and paying for it as well. So it's his site, and you'd do well to keep that in mind.
I'm not debating that. But it'd be nice if there was a more organized way to bring out ideas and suggestions. Simply PMing Cheat: first of all, doesn't alert other members who could potentially support the idea. And second, a single member suggesting an idea has a lot less impact than many members or even most of the forum who would back the suggested idea.

The only reason I'm here is to visit my girlfriend, who still works 4 days a week. We're living in a nice neighborhood, but there's not much to do around here. The city isn't exactly all that closeby either and we just got a new dog that needs more or less constant care the first couple of weeks, so I'm sorta stuck at home.

Plenty of games to play or movies/shows to watch though, so I'm not exactly bored. Only problem being that a few shooters aside, my girlfriend is into JRPGs and the likes, which isn't my cup of tea.

Any suggestions?
You can detour to California with your girlfriend. :^)

I think it is fine the way it is. The rules are there for a reason, and if you have suggestions for the forum, you can PM them to Cheat. He has said that he reads all suggestions and then decides whether they are viable for the forum and make sense, which should be his decision since he is the one who is programming and coding the site.
Wouldn't a suggestion look a lot more credible though if several people were backing it though? And what if there's a rule that the entire forum disagrees with, but the moderators agree with. You can't really capture the entire forum's dissatisfaction in one person's PM. And if there's something that is unacceptable for the Moderators, they can always strike it down. It's always nice to have that option there.

The Flood / Re: Protheans vs The Covenant
« on: August 07, 2014, 01:41:53 PM »
OP just said no orbital bombardment. Although the space tech of ME is low compared to Halo's there's no doubt that the Protheans ore tough ground fighters. They were high tier compared to the other cycles, and the Reapers were above them, and they managed to hold out for hundreds of years against indoctrination and starships that could just bomb them from orbit.

If this was a ground engagement, I think the Covenant would lose in a war of attrition. As well as the powerful tech they have which could easily contend with covenant small arms weaponry, Protheans were Biotics as well. This would be a LOOOOOOOONG fight.
It would be a long war of attrition, but I think The Covenant would still win out. The Covenant could still wipe out any Prothean air strength with ease, and given how shit-tier Mass Effect armored vehicles are, the Covenant would likely secure an advantage in Armor as well. That'd leave the Protheans' only advantage in ground infantry, and perhaps Marine forces. The Covenant could still just shell and bomb the Protheans into submission, and then they could storm the cities and holdouts with Infantry. The Protheans would be squashed and slaughtered, one planet at a time. Especially since the Protheans have no means of Offense since their space fleet is useless compared to the Covenant's.

I agree. I have always thought that any Flood offsite should be for the flood and by the flood. I don't think this should be a private group owned and fully governed by the administrator that made it. Not sure if simply making polls for every issue is how to go about it (perhaps public dialogue with the staff before deciding on a proposal which the admin puts up for voting and stickies it?), but the members of the forum definitely deserve a voice.
If the rule, or whatever is being proposed is retarded (like allowing CP), it either wouldn't pass or the mods could just lock it.

So, hear me out here..

It would be awesome if forum decisions could be put up to a vote. Like, we could add a new section called "Polls", and users could propose changes to the forum, that would be decided simply on majority rules. Like changing a rule? You can make a poll on that. Adding or removing a rule? Poll time, baby. Somebody broke the rules and you need to decide on a punishment? Poooooaaaalllllllll!!!

We've already done polls for moderators, so why not for rules and punishment? Of course the moderators could still intervene if there's really a true threat to the forum (like CP or DDoS attacks), but just think about how awesome this could be. We can have a forum where everyone could be happy with it! The possibilities could be endless.

UK toilets aren't that bad. You just gotta put the toilet paper in the conveniently placed bin next to you. Oh wait, what am I saying? Those are Greek toilets.

Yeah, then UK toilets really aren't bad. I've never had a problem with them. You'd despise Greek toilets though.

The Flood / Re: Protheans vs The Covenant

It wouldn't even take glassing or destroying the actual planet. I was thinking more along the lines of several hundred Covenant cruisers just bombing the shit out of any settlements from the safety of space.

But if that isn't allowed, I have no idea. Never really got into Mass Effect, so I'm not very familiar with the Protheans.
Their only defense are those particle lasers that Sandtrap mentioned. This isn't a very fair poll honestly, since the species in Mass Effect are severely underpowered, and the two factions in Halo are extremely overpowered. The UNSC could probably take out the Reapers to be honest.

The Flood / Re: Protheans vs The Covenant
« on: August 07, 2014, 12:43:49 PM »
My limited knowledge of Protheans aside, I'd say that the covenant would be superior in space and the protheans on ground. Once the covenant establishes dominance in space, all there's left for them to do is mercilessly bomb the living shit out of any Prothean planet. I'm assuming they'd ruin most of the planets they're trying to conquer this way, but it would still be a win for the covies.
That's too unfair for the Protheans. I stated that "planet destroyers" wouldn't be allowed, and that includes massive orbital bombardment and glassing.

The Flood / Re: Protheans vs The Covenant
« on: August 07, 2014, 12:42:59 PM »
No no no! Just think about it. There's an army of a million Protheans on the ground with these assualt rifles. This isn't even counting their heavy weaponry and other stuff. The Reapers took hundreds of years to wipe them out, because even through they were crushed in space early on, they were adaptable. We don't really know what the Protheans had, but in the MEverse, they were leagues ahead of any current cycle for technology. Anywho, back to the point.

I want you to imagine, a million of these rifles aimed at a target. These rifles, when firing, overcharge into a stronger beam. I'd wager that if a million of these rifles were aimed at a low orbiting Covenant ship they might stand a chance at punching a hole through it's shields.

Any Covenant on the ground would get shreked by them.
I can see your point. But the Covenant could just do a few strafing attacks with some of their stealth aircraft and wipe out the Prothean ground forces. Then deploy infantry to mop up the rest. And the ships in Halo are honestly overpowered, period. One of those Covenant Assault Carriers is 5 times the size of a Reaper dreadnought, and could probably win in a 1v1 duel against it. The Covenant is a significantly stronger force than the Reapers. All the Reapers would have against the Covenant is their indoctrination.
