My father was in the USMC, and I know many people from all four branches.
There's a difference between individual soldiers, and the entire force though. Most of the lowly individual soldiers are good people.

I respect the individual soldiers who are willing to lay down their lives for what they believe to be a noble cause, sure. But the military as a whole hasn't had a noble endeavor since WWII. It's a bit depressing that men in suits send men in uniforms to constantly die for no real cause.
