Honestly, in the face of ISIS, I'm perfectly fine with Assad staying in power.

I'm at a crossroads between Mutualism, Individualism and Anarchism.

The more I study libertarian and anarchist thought the more anti-state I become.

People honestly think anarchism would work?

Really?

The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands.

So none of this seems excessive to you?

Its a sad day when PARENTING, raising, and disciplining your child is considered child abuse.

Beating your child until they are bleeding is not parenting or disciplining.

although this wasn't a surprise, the beheading just reinforces the fact that we must sink the middle east

Thinking like this does not solve the problem.

Serious / New Video Claims to show the Beheading of David Haines by ISIS
« on: September 13, 2014, 05:11:17 PM »
Here and Here

Quote

A NEW video from the Islamic State claims to show the beheading of a third prisoner — British man David Haines — and threatens America’s allies for supporting action in the Middle East.

The video appears intended as a direct threat to British Prime Minister David Cameron:

“For being a lapdog, Cameron, you will drag your people into another bloody and unwinnable war,” the video warns.

“This British man has to pay the price for your promise, Cameron, to arm the Peshmerga against the Islamic State.”

David Haines is also shown reciting an Islamic State script.

“You followed Americans into Iraq, following the trend of British Prime Ministers who cannot find the courage to say no to Americans,” he appears to say

“Unfortunately, it is we the British public, that in the end that will pay the price for our parliaments selfish decisions.”

The executioner, speaking with a British accent, repeats previous threats, stating the United States must end its air strikes against jihadists in Iraq.

“This British man has to pay the price for your promise, Cameron,” he says. “Ironically, he has spent a decade of his life serving under the same Royal Air Force that is responsible for delivering those arms. Your evil alliance with America which continues to strike the Muslims of Iraq and most recently bombed the Haditha Dam will only accelerate your destruction.”

The video closes with yet another threat, this time to the life of alleged British captive Alan Henning. He is understood to be an aid worker.

Well apparently the story isn't over yet.

Again, there was a story to begin with?

I still have no idea why the Vex are the supreme bad guys of the four, what the hell this Darkness is, or why the hell a bunch of other shit happens.

Why not go back to the basics? A regular UN game.

I like this one.

Are we restricting it solely to gaming or are there other things that we'll do?
Anything, probably, but with an emphasis on gaming, TV, movies, and tech.

Samples will probably not be needed. I'll set up the news forum and then start moving quality reviews/articles into it. After a member's made a few good pieces, I'll give them permission to add content there directly.

Might have to make a Destiny review as soon as I finish the main story.

I placed out of math in college because a took a bullshit class (Advanced Topics in Math) during my senior year.

So....fuck numbers.
I automatically placed out of intermediate algebra because of my ACT score, but I had the opportunity to test out of college algebra as well. I decided not to and I kinda wish I did because holy fuck this is so easy it's pointless

Would the college still let you test out of it at this point (As in, give you an exam and let you drop the class if you do well enough)? I know my school does something similar to that for the science and math students.

Gaming / Re: Destiny made up to $500 million in sales apparently
« on: September 10, 2014, 06:22:43 PM »
I dunno. I've done about three planets worth of Destiny, so I'm assuming close to 3/4 of the story, and I have no fucking idea what's going on. There's no flow, no questions answered, and it's full of uninteresting characters and enemies that could have been plucked out of the Halo universe, reskinned, and tossed into Destiny.

I really don't see how this will be a global phenomenon in three years, let alone ten.

There are no heroes in Syria. Just hatred and pointless violence.

Could this not be a blanket statement for most of the North African/Middle Eastern world at this point? There's very few places that would be an exception.

I'd be interested - it would be good practice for my future career (Journalism), but I'd also like to help the website grow.

Let me know if you want to see a sample or whatnot. I'm pretty open on topics.

You sure you aren't talking about Steven Sotloff? There's a report out that the moderate rebel's sold out his position to ISIS for close to 50,000 dollars.

The Flood / Re: UN Game: Fallout Edition
« on: September 09, 2014, 04:11:02 PM »
Meh, I agree with Noelle to a point. We're talking about a world that was bombed to nuclear hell. I doubt that we would have gotten to space and colonized in 14 years.
The former government even failed to go into space before the bombs dropped. I have no idea what a UN game is, but it would make more sense to at least try and stick with the theme.
This game jumped over 100 sharks, and Adam West pages ago.
How?

As I said. Less than 25 years after nuclear Apocalypse, and we are back in space, colonizing an entire continent (2 if there's actually someone in Japan), etc.

Just my opinion.

« on: September 09, 2014, 01:51:29 PM »
Don't like it don't join. Plain and simple.

So, we're going to turn away men and women who are willing to serve their country loyally and faithfully...because they don't believe in a God and would rather not express that belief?

That's fucking stupid.

Pretty much. People like that shouldn't be in the military anyway. Small minded drama queens. There are bigger problems than this.

That's an even more stupid idea to have. I'm sure you though DADT wasn't a huge issue either?

So you guys have millions of soldiers, have spaceships, moon bases, and have factions that control most of America? This is not even Fallout anymore.
I don't think you understand how UN games work
No, I do not. The people playing this do not understand how Fallout works either.
Fallout is just the theme of the game. This isn't a Fallout game, it is a UN game.

Meh, I agree with Noelle to a point. We're talking about a world that was bombed to nuclear hell. I doubt that we would have gotten to space and colonized in 14 years.

Serious / Re: Congressional Leaders duck on ISIL
« on: September 09, 2014, 11:44:11 AM »
I have not even heard of ISIL... Are these groups just taking advantage of the chaos and appearing out of nowhere to claim stuff?

Same group as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Their 'official' name is the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levenant", or ISIL.
Not to get bogged down in the terminology of the most vicious terrorist group to have ever existed, but I'd peg their official name as ISIS; the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham.

Let's just call them Satan.
