My dashing good looks

They don't like you because you're smarter than them and they're too dumb to differentiate between when you're joking and when you're serious.

I'm not even shitting around. Like technocracy is retarded but you're probably up there with Meta as one of the more intelligent users here.
Dustin is not smarter than me. I'd consider Meta my equal, though. He can say some sharp things

Sorry man - Meta outclasses anyone.
Can't outclass the best.

But you're only SecondClass

Bias.

If you want to use that shit, sure. Back it up with something that isn't as biased to support your viewpoint then.
So if I made a thread arguing in favor of homeopathy and I used biased sources it would get locked? Isn't it a bias as to when to consider something biased?

Not at all.
But it would get locked if I wrote it with the intent to get a rise out of other people?

More likely moved.
I don't like that.

Take it up with a mod then. The Serious policy will continue to be tweaked and should hopefully be up later today (The 27th)

Well this sure would be interesting.
Though I dunno how I am with talking.

It's just a text conversation - not voice.

But you still blatantly told me that it was 'illegal' to discuss a certain topic because of its offensiveness it has on you.

 ::)

Where was this alleged statement, Dustin?
I think it was the thread Meta made about how liberals are close minded.

You and Mr P said that I'm not allowed to make a thread on homosexual genocide.

 ::)

1.) It wouldn't have gone in Serious under the trial rules
2.) If you can honestly discuss it seriously, fine. Talk about how we should murder all the gays. That doesn't mean you simply go find some backwater internet source that's from 2002 and try to present it as concrete evidence. Shit like that gets it locked and/or moved.
Why can't I use God and Science as a source? What's wrong with Christian conservative citations?

Bias.

If you want to use that shit, sure. Back it up with something that isn't as biased to support your viewpoint then. You are welcome to skip that and simply use "God and Science" if you wish, but none of the staff is going to step in when people ridicule you.

What you ought to do is say that threads must be conducted in an academic fashion. You have a topic, a stance, and your arguments, if a thread can't manage that then it wouldn't belong in Serious.

A good chunk of your threads still wouldn't meet that criteria, Dustin.

The Flood / Re: Your opinion on new Serious rules?

So what exactly are the changes to the Serious board you're going to be making some time tomorrow that Mr P had mentioned?

- Same types of threads allowed as before the trial (In terms of topics)
- Serious forum would still not allow "discussion of any topic seriously"
- Bait threads are no longer allowed

But IcyWind and Mr P think it's dangerous and open minded (they see open-mindedness as a bad thing) to allow people to discuss certain political stances with the sole reason being that they get offended at it. If I were to make a thread advocating against gay marriage, it would get locked because the those two staff members do not know how to ethically and fairly run the Serious board. They think the whole Serious board revolves around themselves and their feelings.

No - it's that whenever you choose to discuss topics like gay marriage, you do so in a way that is nothing more than a bait thread. If you'd like, I can pull up your last attempt at it and show you exactly why this is true.

There was a thread I made that got moved out of Serious and I'm still bothered about that because I feel like I can't bump it back up since it's in the Flood now, so I ended up just asking for a lock. Psy said it's one of those things that's kind of grey area I guess.

The video thread?

After seeing the changes in activity and such, I'm in the camp that prefers reverting to the former policy of what is allowed - while making changes to emphasize that Serious is not for "serious discussion of any topic".

4909
So then why was Door's thread locked because he was spam replying that but it's OK for Elegiac to make these threads?

You've made this point several times now. We've seen the thread and are discussing changes.

We should be able to nominate people so we're not stuck hearing an interview from an utterly boring member.

You can also do that if you wish. However, if the nominated member doesn't want to be interviewed, they won't be forced.

The Flood / Sep7agon Weekly Update - Interview Interest
« on: January 26, 2015, 05:18:15 PM »
If you are interested in being interviewed for the Sep7agon Weekly Update, as Desticle was in the inaugural edition, please post in this thread that you are. I'll be going through and picking one (maybe two) people a week to do so.

Interviews will last ~10 minutes or so, and will (primarily) be done on Skype. If you are interested and do not have a Skype account, we can make other arrangements.

« on: January 26, 2015, 05:06:38 PM »
What the fuck? A court has no right to do that. If the kid doesn't like the name when he grows up, he can change it himself.

France.

Need anything else?

The Flood / "Parents Cannot Name Children "Nutella""
« on: January 26, 2015, 04:54:51 PM »
Sorry Cam

Quote
A recently-born baby named Nutella was renamed by a court in the French city of Valenciennes after a judge ruled that the parents’ decision to the name the child after a food was against the child’s interest, according to a new report in the newspaper La Voix Du Nord.

“The name ‘Nutella’ given to the child is the trade name of a spread,” the court’s decision read, according to a translation. “And it is contrary to the child’s interest to be wearing a name like that can only lead to teasing or disparaging thoughts.”

The judge renamed the child Ella after the parents failed to show up at a court appointed day in November. The baby was born in September.
