Are you kidding? Trump supporters love this shit.

Pretty much.

Trump's outlandish campaign style and rhetoric has drawn support from the far fringes of the conservative base - similar to Ted Cruz's rise to fame. As long as that base continues to sustain him pre-primaries, there's no real reason for Trump to drop out.

That being said, on a national scale, the moderate and less crazy GOP voters, including the libertarians, far outnumber the base that Trump is building. If he wants to have any chance at prevailing in the elections, he's going to need to cut down the rhetoric and appeal to a wider population.

Problem is one he does, he loses his base. At some point, Trump is going to hit his ceiling.

As much of a gaffe that this is, I wouldn't expect Trump's surge to stagnate or diminish quite yet.

To give you some perspective, in July/August 2011, some of the top GOP candidates were Michelle Baachman (out after Iowa), Hermain Cain (out in December), and Rick Perry (Out in February).

Early polls, especially 5-6 months out, mean almost nothing.

His growth will begin to slow within the next 3-5 months.

By January, this'll be but a dream.
That's a damn shame because there aren't any other democrat candidates I'd consider voting for. Might have to go Green in this one.

Next January, I don't want to hear complaints for you then about the next President.
Why can't I complain? I'm not one of those bitches who doesn't vote then complains. I've voted in every election I could since 2006.

You damn well know that voting for a third party in 2016 America is essentially the same as not even voting at all. The candidates have no name recognition, no funding prowess, and no mainstream support necessary to even BREAK into the start of a true Presidential campaign.

They have a better chance, statistically, of being struck by lighting twice.
Well I live in a very, very red district in very blue California, so voting anything other than republican doesn't matter in the general.

Not sure why that doesn't mean I can't complain if my preferred candidate doesn't win, though.

Because you damn well know the candidate you are voting for wont win. You know it ahead of time.

If anything, voting Green will help the Republicans get in.

Hence the "I don't want to see complaining"

Just a friendly reminder to keep the debate civil. It's late in Britbongistan, don't make us unchain Psy to come in here.

OT: I'm over this whole debate. The bakery doesn't want to make a cake? Fine, they have shitty business practices, are shitty people for mixing their personal religious beliefs into it, and should be boycotted for it.

However, if the lesbian couple had any sense, they would have simply gone to another bakery and left it as such.

This is such a blown up issue over a dessert.

I wouldn't say a natural progression of the conversation equates to derailment - there have been plenty of threads that have done that and remained unlocked.

However (using old Serious as an example) - if Meta were to make a thread on the EU, and suddenly on Page 2 Chally and Kinder are screaming about North Korea with no natural progression to connect the two topics, that would equate to a derailed thread.
Well, then, I'd like an apology for at least three warnings that I've received.

I'm not a mod.

Serious / Re: Take down the flag
« on: June 19, 2015, 06:27:34 PM »
It's a fucking flag, for fuck's sake.

Offence is always taken, it's never given. The people here who consider a flag "offensive" are the ones with the issue, especially when you could consider the historical intricacies involved in the Civil War.

I mean, come on, are we so stupid as to ignore context? Let's say the Swastika was raised outside the Reichstag ever year on VE Day, in an attempt to symbolise and remember a very dark period in Germany's history. Personally, I think this could be justified, and the fact that flying even the Swastika can be acceptable in certain circumstances sure as shit means there's no need to get your fucking cock and balls in a knot because some places fly A CONFEDERATE FLAG WHEN SOME FUCKING LUNATIC MURDERS A BUNCH OF BLACK PEOPLE.

Holy shitting Christ alive.
I take issue with the fact that it tried to keep that divide of North and South.

There's no division. It's one country and one people.

I'm indifferent on the issue of whether or not it is time to retire the Confederate Battle flag, however I can certainly see why people would find it about time to do so and wouldn't be opposed to it.

I find the symbolism of the flag akin to the use of the swastika - yes, people with different belief systems and ideals are going to use the symbol to represent said belief, but in the whole, it's a tainted concept.
