Your browser should have ways of shutting that down if you truly didn't want to get ad raped.

No.

So, that airbase that Trump aimed to hit as a proportional response?

It's still useable, and planes by Assad used it to stage a bombing earlier

This was a waste
LOL

Good, that means it was just for show.
How many millions were wasted here? Poor tax payers paying for president's toys.

Each Tomahawk missile cost about $832,000 (£667,000).

US officials say 59 missiles were fired from the USS Porter and USS Ross warships which were positioned in the Mediterranean Sea.

This would have cost the American taxpayer at least $49,088,000 (£39,353,000).

Maybe move Psych's thread to News, where it will stay on the front page for years, but who knows.

We can do that, so long as Psych has no qualms.

Hahaha I'm just laughing at all the people that thought this was going to result in a war. Especially all the retards on /pol/ with their HABBEDING xDDD threads.

Guess what retards, we've already launched tomahawk missiles at Syria in 2014.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/syria-air-strikes-47-tomahawk-cruise-missiles-were-launched-from-two-us-navy-destroyers-9751186.html

Difference being that those air strikes were aimed at ISIS-held targets in the eastern part of the country. This is the first strike carried out that directly targets something controlled by Assad.

You bring up a good point. But iirc, someone raised the point to me that even when Russia had collapsed, they've constantly been harassing the border states near them. Forgive my quick reply, multitasking, but didn't they invade some nation in the 90's because they wanted to break off with them or something?

Chechnya?

Boots on the ground might be too much though.

To be fair, there are already US troops on the ground in eastern Syria.

I think he legit wanted better relations with Russia (as every leader coming in has tried), but once he took the office and got unloaded with the info and all the shit that comes with the job, he probably saw how impossible that was.

That's just my guess

Either way, being president has to be one of the worst jobs in the world.

To be fair, he did notify Russia that he was about to bomb a foreign government.
That's smart, because the last thing you want to do is have some kind of entanglement with Russia and spark a diplomatic crisis like Turkey v Russia.

Either way, I fully expect a response by the Assad regime - and Trump is going to be walking a very thin line with this. Most polls show that Americans are tired of being involved in the Middle East, and sending our troops into another conflict would only gut approval ratings.

Don't cross the red line and you won't get bombed.

Finally we have a REAL president

Nothing ever changes in 4 years does it?

I wasn't aware the requirement for Congressional approval was changed.

Saying something out of office is indeed very different than when you're in office

especially when they're testing what you'll do as president. Putin kept poking at Obama to see how far he'd go. Trump seems to not have the same leeway.

Tbh, I'm glad. Especially after he said it crossed a red line. Had he not said that, maybe, yeah. But when you double/triple down on something Obama used as a term, you gotta do something.

I feel like I might be in the minority

The issue isn't "In office versus out of office", that's to be expected. The issue is that Trump and his administration are throwing missiles at a military base of a foreign government before any investigation into the gas attack has begun - it's beyond reactionary - especially if you believe stuff like Psy shared, blaming rebels and not Assad.

Impossible. Influence from the west wont allow for anybody other than a puppet who supports western democratic "ideals" (which are anything BUT western and democratic).

The question is how to remove him from power while maintaining a semblance of stability in the area.

I'd agree with Ian that it's impossible, but for completely different reasons.

Serious / Re: Trump finally did something I agree with
« on: April 05, 2017, 05:43:01 PM »
The only thing so far I've agreed with Trump on is the very hardened stance towards North Korea.
Nobody respected Obama. With Trump he is rebuilding the US military and is not afraid to use it.
Besides upgrading our nuclear bombers to be something newer than the B-52 and upgrading the nuclear program with new tech, what else about our military needs to be "rebuilt"?  The only aspect to our military which is lacking is the nuclear side of it when it comes down to the tech.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/04/04/navy-instructor-pilots-refusing-to-fly-over-safety-concerns-pences-son-affected.html

Just one of hundreds of examples of underfunded and undermaintained programs and pieces of equipment throughout the military. Not saying Trump is right; I just left this as a comment instead of making an entire thread about it because this discussion seemed relevant.

Is that an issue of the military needing to rebuild, or an issue of money for the military being mismanaged and not going where is needed?

Think the prime example of this is Congress ordering the military new tanks, when the Joint Chiefs said they did not want or need new tanks.
