Most (if not all) of the Irish members of the site have contracted or died from cirrhosis of the liver.

Wikipedia doesn't necessarily abolish paid encyclopedias, for another thing.

It's strength is also it's downfall: the volunteers (and also relatively free access there is to edit the pages). You can't trust wikipedia as a reliable source of information given that is totally down to the writer(s) with their own bias, as well as the admins who may dispute facts and rollback pages when the information was correct. Don't even get me started on the "fake wiki" pages on things that are entirely made up. Paid sources of information I'd like to think have done actual research on the topics and make an unbiased source of info for the price, which is usually the case if you consider academic journals as well other than just Encyclopedia.

Nope.

Esports is entertainment.

Camping's great.

Especially when you mostly just pack alcohol and have a party with a fire in a field.

Eh, I wouldn't be dead but it would've bleached my colon clean by then.

Also, would do the 8 cups like shots all in one, it's only shitting a bit for a lot of money.

Destroy All Humans 3.

Wasn't made by the original developers, and was total shite as a result. It also killed off any chance of it coming back too which was a shame.

« on: July 17, 2015, 05:21:53 PM »
the fact that it needs to load each segment of the game is just a console thing, i'm sure, right

minor gripe, but i feel like the ps3 ought to be powerful enough to have everything preloaded

No, it's on PC too (although the loading time is directly related to your computer's processing speed). How it works is whatever segment you're in, the ones ahead and behind you are preloaded (in case you go back for something, like HL1 had you do occasionally). Beats sitting at a loading screen for missions on other games though.

I keep reading the censored words like "slext". lol

Getting the translated Metro 2033 and '34 books on Monday. Wanted to read more into the Metro Universe after playing the games for so long.

My last thing I got in the post wasn't so interesting, just a Wifi extender because my wireless signal can't go through stronk Victorian red brick walls. On the bright side, I can now post here without my internet deciding to cut out and lose all my text!

That's pretty offensive to assume that just because someone posts some pictures of guys that makes them gay.

Ok.

This stuff is camp as fuck.
Excuse me?
Camp.

My Dad used to do the latter on PS1 games. Now he doesn't even bother.

Haven't really experienced the former.

Serious / Re: A robot just passed the self-awareness test
« on: July 16, 2015, 06:21:48 PM »
I thought it had to pass the Alan Turing test or something like that, not it's own test that a robot was programmed for

I mean it's sorta interesting, but there's clear bias in this "test" that warrants further investigation before I'd agree that we have the first truly self aware robot/AI.

« on: July 16, 2015, 07:30:31 AM »
I think give em a chance.

They know if they attempt anything that could be used as a nuclear weapon, Israel is gonna be all over that shit and the US or UN will just drone-strike the place.

It would have been good if they were given designs to Thorium reactors and see how they got on with it, but eh.

Currently putting all my devices in the microwave to de-NSA/GCHQ everything.

...but how can I trust the microwave?

3353
Ayyy Ireland made 11th. UK got 13th.

Forbes has the list.

3354
I can sorta agree with that.

Except Beck's Mellow Gold. About 50% of that album is experimental noise, in no way to be listened more than once

First things first; get made leader forever like Kim Jung Il (or was it Kim Il Sung?)

Will do the rest when more competent, tomorrow.

It's not too bad if you don't think about it. That said, Facebook posts and the like are a relationship minefield. Just try and dodge the cringe coming off;

Watched Arby 'n' the Chief and Freeman's mind (both to completion), but nowadays not so much. I await Ross Scott to create a sequel to his series.

Found out Ross is part of some sort of machinima site a while back, so if anyone's interested there's a shameless link in the spoiler.

The Flood / Re: Fear The Walking Dead actually looks pretty cool
« on: July 14, 2015, 07:49:31 PM »
Eh...

Seen enough WWZ-esque zombie apocalypses to watch a new one. The Walking Dead is interesting because it's set during the post-apocalypse phase which only recently has been tapped into (Metro, Fallout's revival, Day-Z, etc), while this just seems to be an attempt at reviving a beaten-to-death horse.
