Why wont Halo be in Guardians?

Because it died with Reach.

Gaming / Re: Post on why Halo 5 multiplayer is bad

I'm going to try to keep things short, but I may just ramble on at some point.

Halo 5 is a fun game (as of now). It kept me interested a lot longer than any other usual game, but not as long as I'd hope. Trying to adopt the more popular features just end up with the game tripping over itself. It wants to be an Arena shooter, yet tries to include modern shooter mechanics. Which more often than not, hinder the arena experience. There were some features that helped Halo move a step forward, but also some that made it take two steps back.

After seeing how Reach and 4 fared, I was hoping that 343i would come to realize that just in general these features aren't wanted as much as they used to be. If people wanted a modern shooter they wouldn't look at Halo, they would look elsewhere. I'm certain that this is more than likely as to why Halo 4 had it's community drop so quickly; because it's the game people didn't expect it to be.

You can say that I have my "nostalgia goggles on," but the early yet simple days of Halo were among the best years of it's time. They had an appeal to a wide variety of communities, not just a few.

TL;DR: Games (including Halo) are becoming too similar. People are heading off to the one that does that the best (not Halo).

If this damn lingering freeze over where I live would let up on my fingers maybe I'd be able to better myself.

As for you being the best? Don't know. You seem too cocky and sure of yourself. Perhaps to the point of inept adaptation, who knows? Keep yourself open minded my friend. It's nice to toot your own horn once in a while, but just keep your expectations reasonable.

Gaming / Re: lets end this "who's the best halo player in sep7" business
« on: January 08, 2015, 04:56:27 AM »

I was too much of a casual player at the time during Halo 3 to even bother working on them until it was too late and everyone jumped ship. Just played customs all the time anyways.

Reach was too bothersome for me to try as hard as I normally do due to the lack of competitive settings until v7 came out.

Halo 4 mostly consisted of me going solo most of the time. But I didn't play nearly as much as I did with 3/Reach.

For the Halo 5 beta, I think I'm somewhere along Semi-Pro 1700+ with a 3 K/D, but that game is just confused when it comes to it's ranking. I've seen Negative Onyx players on that thing.

« on: January 08, 2015, 04:43:05 AM »
One of the only great things I enjoyed about Reach was Forge. Despite it's rather dull color choice, it was a marvel looking at some of those aesthetic beauties. Great for community uses, but little else.

The campaign was extremely lacking, and the multiplayer was too casual.

Still, I made it to Inheritor. Can't say it was a bad game, but it wasn't a standard for what I think a good Halo game should be.

Gaming / Re: MCC - why does everybody pick crappy Halo 2 classic
« on: January 08, 2015, 04:38:07 AM »
For the most part I just play the Campaign, since the Multiplayer still doesn't work.

But if I ever do feel like playing Multiplayer, it all depends on the map and the gametypes. For the most part I vote anything that has BR starts and is on a good map. If a good map isn't present, oh well. I'll just have to stick it out.

I'd play more CE, but I should probably get the hang of things in that game due to my lack of multiplayer experience with it, apart from customs and some dreadful PC servers.

Halo 2 is my go to but there are some hit reg issues that are just too dreadful to deal with.

Halo 3 with it's sub-optimal BR causes far too many issues, and the connection doesn't help either.

And Halo 4? I don't play any playlists that have Halo 4 in them as far as I know. Who would?

I don't find Grenade spam to be too difficult considering the base movement speeds and jump height.

As for campers, they can easily be dispatched so as long as you prepare yourself for the next encounter with them. A rebound here and there will smoke them out good.

I've adjusted to the UI, though it is very slow and unresponsive. Apps crash way too often and I usually find myself hesitant to open a message just so I don't have to deal with that 30 second freeze.

You're right to a degree, but like you said, you had just received the Console. Over time you'll come around.

The media is going to love this.

Likely due to the competitive lure of what people want a FPS to be. Lighting and effects could over saturate the playing space, making it hard to cope with ongoing battles.

Gaming / Re: Halo 5 MP First Impressions/Suggestions
« on: December 31, 2014, 05:15:56 AM »
The game plays better than Halo 4, that's a definite. Heavy loss of aim assist, competitive map focus, and an in-game ranking system are the big one's for me.

The weapons feel fine and nice to use, but considering it's a Beta I'll have to excuse the hit detection as it feels really off (almost as bad as Halo 3's bloodshots). The whole competitive focus that the team has really draws me in, but there's still some mechanics and features that I find detract from the whole experience. Mainly being sprint, and Spartan abilities. There are other things as well, but those surely can be adjusted with the game settings and Forge. Asides from that, the minimal irks I have with the game is the non-stop talking, cheesy endings, and the cluster of medals being thrown at you.

As for their choice of weapons, I find it to be a terrible idea to have AR starts, as it just makes things harder for those who are unfamiliar with weapon placements. Especially on Truth, but it feels alright on Empire. I'd rather the option to vote, so it's a more leveled for those who are more on the competitive side.
Taking away most of if not all the AA (aim-assist) was a smart move, but I feel it just makes the game a bit too easy for those automatic users. Their reticle and bloom easily compensate for the loss of AA (which I would be fine with close range), but the addition of the Smart Scope make them easy tools of destruction at close, mid, and far range battles. Not too keen on that. Other than that, I feel the weapons are alright. But I feel that the DMR should have a slower rate of fire, but a faster rate when scoped. As to increase the incentive to use at for far range encounters.

As for the Spartan Abilities, there are some I like, and some I dislike. What I like? Ground slam, Charge, and Thruster Pack. What I dislike? Clamber, Smart Scope, and Sprint. Haven't played with Slide enough to have a better grasp of how it works, so I'll leave it out for now.
Quote
Ground Slam Is easily my favorite ability that they have to offer. Not spammed too often, hard to use, and fun. At first I felt it was "too hard to use," but the more I thought about it the more I found that to be right. Nothing of that power should be easy, but when you do get it right with timing, and precision, it feels extremely rewarding. I love it.
Charge: I find it easy and simple. I don't see a place for it out of how redundant it is, but it's a nice visual aesthetic for a melee.
Thruster Pack: Would usually be something that I'd have an issue with, and for the most part I do find issues with it. A press of a button that can get you out of a scenario you brought yourself into more often than not would be shamed, but I feel it's more welcomed here than Halo 4's Thruster Pack. Solely being due to the fact that it's universal, and the maps are make it more often than not a problem if you do use it as an escape tool.
Clamber: Something I'm not too fond of, because it seems to void any form of trick/skill jumps. Missed your jump? Just clamber up it. It feels more like a cater to the casual crowd more so than a competitive addition. That, and I can only see how much of the item count people are going to use when it comes to negating this thing.
Smart Scope: You're already familiar with how I feel on this, seeing as how I put it in together with how I felt about weapons, so you can just use that for reference.
Sprint: Oh boy, sprint. This is what I dislike the most about Halo 5. Too much fleeing. Way too much. Was an issue with Reach and still is with 5. Sprint is just something that shouldn't belong in a competitive shooter. Some will say that it's a "tactical withdrawal," but it's nothing more than a map stretching and escape artists tool. It's nice to see that they're looking for ways to negate this sort of behavior, but that's just the nature of this mechanic. That and it doesn't help that you can sprint forever. Not good.

That's all I have for now. May or may not update this, depending on how the Thread goes.

At the moment you can find it in either 'Featured' or 'Originals.' Should be one of the first three tabs that you see. When or if you do find it, mark at as 'Queued' so you can watch it later if need be.

Gaming / Re: 3Fail3 Haters will never be satisfied will they?
« on: December 31, 2014, 04:35:00 AM »
People can hate all they want, let them. There should be a competition of ideas. Some of which we share, and some we don't. Just bring valid reasons to the table as to whether or not the mechanics/features are right for the game, and time will decide who is right. Some will be opinionated, some will be uninformed, and some will be straight out fact. It's up to you to decide which of those three you belong in, but don't get too personal about it.

That aside, I do enjoy Halo 5. As I did with every Halo. But that doesn't go to say that there were a few hiccups and burps here and there. Most of that being pointed at the few but controversial titles, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4. But I still enjoyed them for what they were. Kept me playing for years, and I don't recall many other games that gave me much incentive to follow.

I'm not going to go into detail about it seeing as how the Thread has much of nothing to do about that, but just keep in mind that when people usually go back and forth on these things that each person has either a much wider perception of it, or a smaller one. It's up to both of you to find that middle ground (or comfort zone) and go on from there.

I take it this is a Doom 3 ripoff?
Not at all. It's a wave based game with a variety of enemy "Zeds" that all have their own uses. Go through the waves until you reach the Boss phase, where you fight the Patriarch. It has a class system with level ups, an in-game store so you can purchase new items and weapons using money you get from killing/healing throughout the waves, and IMO great gameplay.
