And we're back to my point, I personally don't see the need for them. You can know who you are without having to invent a fucking label.
and if that works for you, then that's fine

but some people find it easier to say "i'm x" instead of constantly having to go through the motions to explain what they are
I think in the case for something like demisexuality it's just really confusing, because it's not actually a sexuality, you're not really defining who you're attracted to with it, it's more of a preference thing

The Flood / Re: The most delusional statements people make.
« on: May 16, 2016, 08:00:13 AM »
"Space travel and research is a waste of time and money."
the delusion is in thinking that this statement is delusional

>practically infinite free water that's already clean
>Basically infinite fuel sources, be it fusion fuel in gas giants or in lunar dirt, or millions of earth's worth of hydrocarbons on titan
>abundance of rare (andnot rare) earth materials in asteroid belts
>the need for lightweight materials necessitating research in materials development, quantum computing, renewable sources of food and energy and air
>microgravity and climate-controlled environments allow for better crop yields than on earth
>lack of atmosphere allows solar energy to be much more efficient than earthbased measures
>the ability to literally dispose of harmful materials by throwing them into a star or a gasgiant and permanently dispose of them

Also one to appeal to you

>meat being a highly inefficient means of nutrition means anyone living in space wouldn't be eating animals all too often

There's a bunch more I've forgot but I'm on the train right now so eh. The long term benefits outweight the short term disadvantages. Also, I haven't mentioned colonisation once, just something to note. Space travel directly or indirectly spurs the development of sustainable energy and other resources, as well as materials science allowing current manufacturing processes to get cheaper, quicker, less resource-intensive overall.

Plus, it enhances our knowledge of the universe we live in and the rules that make everything work. For me, that's prospect enough.
daily reminder that asteroid farming might be a thing in our children's life time.
it's a bittersweet feel

A fetus may not be considered human yet, but if you're going to actually carry it instead of aborting it, you should take good care of it, because you know, it will be born at some point. It should be treated differently because of the different outcomes. If you're aborting it, fair game. If you're going to carry it, then take care of it. Because otherwise you'll end up screwing up a child's life when it is born

Nuclear energy is dirty, dangerous and expensive and should be ruled out for all those reasons. Fukoshima is the poster child of the nuclear power industry. You can put it in someone else's back yard or on the other side of the world but we are all endangered by it.

And we don't need it! Renewable are the least expensive. Nuclear is the most expensive. It only survives because our government is in bed with the industry and campaign contributions by the loan guarantees that the industry cannot operate without. The continued existence of this lethal form of energy is a tribute to the corruption of our political system. Clean up our energy. Clean up our politics. Join the Green movement.

I mean, people are always talking about how a disaster couldn't happen, but... Fukushima happened.
I can't talk for how dangerous it is, other than other forms of power generation tend to be way, way more dangerous (Coal in particular actually causes a lot of deaths). It's actually pretty clean, aside from the waste it produces, and even then it's still far less than things like coal or oil just because of how energy dense something like Uranium is. And Nuclear is also cheaper than quite a few forms of renewable energy, solar energy in particular tends to be very expensive (Although it's become a lot cheaper recently)

They're only more expensive due to them being newer along with a bunch of political reasons.
Yeah, I would assume so

Gaming / Re: do you like old videogames or new videogames
« on: May 12, 2016, 03:17:02 AM »
I like good games.
Old games have a higher concentration of those.
Dude seriously? What does a game matter if it's old or new, if it's good, enjoyable and appealing then what else matters?
I'm not saying that old games are better because they're old. I'm saying that old games just so happen to be better.

Plus, tell me what year warrants a game to be 'new'
Sixth gen or earlier.
Honestly, I think that has more to do with just how we remember the good old games, and forget about the stuff that sucked
