I haven't been bored with the world, I really like exploring it, but I feel as if once I've found every place it'll be different because it feels like there's not much of a reason to explore except for the sake of exploring.
That's really it. Exploring for the sake of exploring, and while that's fine, a lot of what prompts people to explore is because games like this have a carrot at the end of the stick method, where they tease you into exploring in hopes of bigger rewards. You come across that random cave/building on your way to a destination? Why not explore it, you might find an interesting story or a really cool weapon or some neat looking armor if you do.

That's completely removed from Fallout 4 and it makes me actually think "do I want to waste 15 minutes in this building collecting things for my settlement, or just go to my objective?"

You know there won't be a good weapon in there, you know the armor won't be anything better than what you already have either. Your only hope is some legendary enemy in there drops something interesting, and odds are it won't be. I'm speaking from a high level perspective when I say this. By the time you're around level 20, it basically removes any real reason to explore anything unless you're naked or something.
Mhmm, perhaps there's too much of an emphasis on modding weapons and armour, you basically HAVE to do it if you want good stuff

There is the occasional rare and unique item, like that Cryo gun in Vault 111 and I found Grognak's Axe and his outfit, but those feel like the exception rather than the norm

Stealth actually works great, you just have to walk slower and you can't wear heavy armour otherwise enemies can hear you

I got one back in Christmas 2009, and used it basically non stop until like 2014. The poor thing was still chugging along, the disc tray wouldn't open unless there was a disc inside and it made HORRIBLE noises while reading discs, but it never died on me once. Played an impossibly large amount of Halo back then haha

Also, call me crazy, but I really don't like the music selection in Fallout 4

Butcher Pete and Atom Bomb Baby and a few others are nice, but I'll claw my ears out if I hear Grandma Plays the Numbers or Personality one more god damn time

I miss my Johnny Guitar :^(
I feel like there's too many songs in Fallout 4 >.> (There's like 40 something of them)

And it doesn't help I always seem to get the ones I don't like :<

But that's only a small complaint and it doesn't affect my opinion of the game

1930
but yeah

fallout 4 would have been way improved if they had either not done a set character or made the set character actually a part of the world instead of making a set character and treating it like its not

You nailed what I couldn't put my finger on, Cindy. You have a personality pre-established in game, but the only thing given to you is the tone in which you do it.

Also, Ron Pealman not being there broke my heart. He's been there since the original and they scrap him.
Apparently he is in Fallout 4, as the anchorman on TV who talks about the bombs dropping

I agree in pretty much every aspect
Really? Thank you. I felt it was very... ill paced. I was just kinda typing out my thoughts. I compare it to reviews like Verbs and just tremble when comparing.
Naw, it's really good, and other than the thing that I mentioned in the Fallout thread it pretty much sums up my views perfectly

It doesn't. I won't go on about it since i just made a giant rant thread.
It's just... Really jarring, I guess? I was wondering what felt off about dialogue in the game, I wanted to create my own character with her own personality but I couldn't, even though the game seemed to want me to do it. If they had built the game more around the fact that you do have a set character then it could've been MUCH better. Having a set character doesn't limit choice, and I could play through games like Mass Effect or The Witcher multiple times, having an already established character doesn't prevent stuff like that.
I think it helps because the world around said characters compliments them too. Like Shepard and his backstories, and either dialogue option. Same with the Witcher. It feels like Fallout 4 has a character who's personality, regardless of what you choose, that doesn't mesh well with the persistent universe and setting they throw at you.

Or something. I don't know.
Yeah I agree, maybe the backstory for the character wasn't the best one given the circumstance. Like, if the Sole Survivor wasn't from before the war and already had themselves established in the world, at least partly, (And they had the title "Sole Survivor" from experiencing something else) then a set character could've worked a lot better.

Yeah, I'm kind of wanting to play NV again >.>

but i just know im going to get annoyed by the awful combat and its going to ruin it even though its an amazing game

But honestly, having a set character isn't my main gripe, it's just the lack of choice, I don't mind playing a set character, it can be done REALLY well (The Witcher/Geralt for example, his past and story is basically already all set out yet it doesn't limit your choices, there's a lot of choices that you can make and The Witcher 3 is one of my favourite RPGs). I think a problem here is that Bethesda's come and given us a set character, but they've still made the game feel as if it's built for creating your own character, and it doesn't work out very well.

We pretty much agree, though I think the story, dialogue, humor, and choice to DO SHIT makes Fallout NV better than 4. Customization is great, but I always felt the atmosphere, and story were more important in NV.

I'm sure if Obsidian got another crack at a Fallout with the stuff Fallout 4 is using, it'd blow it out of the water. Though I do like the characters to Fallout 4. Companions and all. It's good to know I can hate Cait for her personality instead of a lack of one.

5. Fallout 3
4. Fallout 1
3. Fallout 2
2. Fallout 4
1. Fallout NV

I'm not saying that 1 and 2 are bad games, they'd definitely be at least an 8/10 for me and I could honestly interchange between 1, 2 and 4, but I think I played the games too late, and the dated mechanics let them down for me >.>

otherwise they get absolute top marks for story and writing and everything like that

Fallout 3's probably a 6.5-7/10 for me, Fallout 1, 2 and 4 around 8/10 and NV 9/10

You realize when you speak English naturally you don't actually pronounce the spaces between words as pauses right?
But I have no idea how to pronounce things in Welsh

I'm an antitheistic apache-sexual monsterfluidkin and I think your opinion is grapes (saying "banana" would be bigoted against bananasexuals).
As Fruitkin, your usage of the word "grapes" is extremely triggering and problematic
You can't be bigoted against grapekin because there are more of them.
Um, wow.

Way to trivialise grapekin struggles, this is exactly why grapekin are STILL not taken seriously or are constantly the victims of microaggressions
Uh no, grapekin can't be discrimated against. They're the men of the fruitkin genderstream.
frist of all how dare yo u
