You all should read Peter Watts' Maelstrom. It's a cyberpunk novel where the main character inadvertently uses memes to destroy the Internet's neural net infrastructure and awaken humanity's collective unconscious longings for death, thus pretty much ending the world.
Oh, and it was written in 2001 before memes actually started leaking into reality.
It's pretty fucked up at times, but I really liked the book.

I found a small tarantula in my outdoor utility closet, but the little guy seems to have disappeared as of late.
They seem pretty passive. I was going to start feeding mine if he didn't just vanish.
Crabs, though...
They're the real menace. I can't wait until nuclear war evaporates the oceans and takes all the crustaceans with it.
You would need a metric fuckton of nukes to evaporate earth's oceans.
Maybe we could just set off all the nukes in Siberia or the north pole to release enough trapped clathrates to cause a runaway cycle of ocean heating. The problem is that I don't think the temperature changes would actually reach down far enough to kill off all the crustaceans surviving off hydrothermal vents.

Ads aren't very professional. The last thing Wikipedia wants to do is even further decrease its credibility. Most TV runs ads. Wikipedia is selling itself as an online encyclopedia. You wouldn't expect ads for local businesses in a physical encyclopedia, would you? And if the ads were distasteful or sexually charged, as internet ads often are?

Wikipedia has a copy paste problem. If you look closely enough, you'll notice all sorts of style problems or passages containing first or second person pronouns. That's because they were directly taken from some other article.
