The Flood / Re: Anyone stand up so fast they kinda pass out?
« on: February 01, 2016, 03:00:32 AM »
Often when standing up from a comfy chair after an extended period of sitting I'd lose vision and collapse back into the chair.

Loss of vision meaning sudden blindness or seeing stars?

If you are unable to see in terms of sudden blindness I highly recommend seeing medical attention.
like I fell into brief unconsciousness but not long enough for me to lose lucidity.

Have you talked to a doctor about that? That's not really a common result of getting up too quickly. It reminds me of how I use to have the inability to walk up stairs at a certain point (don't really know how to explain it correctly)

Are we talking instances real mod bias? Cause I've seen/heard about some weird theories and other shit out there.

There have been some cases of bias or inconsistency that I've had to clear up or reverse in the past though. It's less of a problem now than it was earlier on in my opinion.

I mean in general, like shady decisions that are clearly more towards certain users, or even overall. Like a mod banning someone for saying something they personally were offended by. Or a mod screwing over another member.

I don't think anyone has been banned over something that a mod has been personally offended by. The first and third have happened though. Kiyo being the example of someone who screwed over another member. The first happening a few times over the course of this websites history, but calling them shady would be outright false.

Ok by personally offended by I mean for something that wasn't against the rules. No Das, you pming people loli porn doesn't count.

I know Kiyo was crazy, and that's the only person in which I understood why everyone lost their shit. But I always see more claims of outright "wrong decisions" made by mods. I'm incredibly non partial to a lot of people on here, especially those I like, and I've found it really hard to really say there has been anything done wrong outside of Kiyo

Well there actually have been a few made by mods in the past. Sometimes threads are locked that shouldn't be, sometimes people are warned that shouldn't be. There's even been an couple instances where someone was banned who shouldn't have been.

Completely removing bias from people is outright impossible, however people don't always intentionally act upon their biases. For example we've had times where mod(s) were inconsistent when it came to locking threads. They may not have been actively searching out threads made by a specific group of users to lock, but they ended up leaving threads open of the same type that were made by other users. This was something that was brought to our attention by a couple members speaking up about it.

Fair play, but my point is the vast majority of decisions regarding locks, bans and warnings is pretty consistent. More so then any forum I've seen. And this isn't to say mods are infallible, it's just to say that the mods we have do the best job I've seen. And I think more often then not its forgotten simply due to the fact we have a dedicated user base, so if their banned their going to be salty since it's their primary way of wasting away time.

But it's annoying to see the perception of the quality of performance being so skewed either by way of a small mistake, or coincidence. You guys have been pretty open and honest when it comes to making mistakes which is very rare to see. It's just a lack of appreciation, which is a pretty big theme on here, that bugs me the most.

It's pretty hard to only have chosen one bad mod out of dozen

100% can relate. Use to happen a lot, now it's fairly rare. Its if I bolt up and it usually happened when I was getting out of my car or off my couch celebrating a goal.

Never fainted as a result but have gotten pretty close
I guess I was lying down at a weird angle and texting, so when I got out blood just rushed to my head

it actually kinda scared me after I was aware what happened

I usually see stars and I hear a ringing in my ears. The best thing to do is try and lay down or put your head down. Try and be careful next time it happens. If you feel your body reacting like that again, take a seat and put your head down. If needed rest against something so you don't slouch over or fall.

I will say as a mod for only like... what, a month now?

That I've seen a lot of reports are people acting like babbies rather than actual offenses. Of course there are real ones worthy of actually taking action with (to which I've messed up once or twice), but yeah.

But would you say you genuinely messed up or that it could have gone both ways (meaning there was logic behind your decision)
As in I'm still learning my way about a few things.

Which is a valid excuse, to a certain extent obviously. And if things were fixed quickly I don't see why it would be made a big deal.

I was actually the one who reversed both instances because I was contacted about them. It certainly helps when the person is polite about the matter too.

As it should be, mistakes are made and I can imagine it wasn't a major one (as far as major mistakes can go on an Internet forum). If I got banned for no reason and then unbanned because it was a mistake, I wouldn't be upset.

common sense
Doesn't exist in the real world.

Ok, basic human decency. (Even though common sense in our day and age exists but this thread isn't about this)

I've found it really hard to really say there has been anything done wrong outside of Kiyo

Some issues handled behind closed doors are of interest because only the users involved know what happened and staff. The forum as a whole doesn't.

Well I'm in the dark when it comes to 95% of that, and I'm happy for that

I disagree.

And that was the first case of it happening. I didn't see anything in the rules.

It shouldn't have to be...it's common sense

What part of "did nothing wrong" don't you understand?

Just because our states are free doesn't mean that the rest of the world, or even the rest of the United States are free.

Sending unsolicited unspoilered porn to people in general via pm is something that's always been ban worthy though.

This is what I'm talking about. I genuinely saw nothing wrong with this decision and don't see how it can be construed as incorrect. Not even for any reason outside of logic

I got banned for five days for doing nothing wrong.

As much as I like you, if your talking about the Loli thing you can't really argue it. It's just weird, and it's understandable (not even talking about laws) why anything like it or remotely similar wouldn't be allowed.

Like, it's sort of common sense at that point. Your entitled to like what you like but that doesn't mean it has to be catered, especially when the owner of the site doesn't want it.

I would ban everyone here if I could. Like seriously, do not give me power.
You will so regret it.

Still don't know why you lost your status, still doubt you did anything wrong

He was a trail mod. Not all of them were going to keep the status.

He can share details if he wants, but I'll fill in anything that he forgot.

Id rather not make him regurgitate it again just for me, less work for everyone

maybe it has to do with the fact I don't read the majority of threads or really delve deep into it. Also not being heavily involved probably plays a factor.
That's pretty much all there is to it.

Even then I eventually find out about shit, albeit much later, and I very rarely ever go "well that's kinda strange"
Well yeah it's only rarely that a mod does something that's questionable, but it's happened. People just like to throw tantrums.

Kiyo was the only person I legitametly understood why there was so much outrage

I've never seen it, never experienced it, never really been shown anything to act like its there.

Maybe it's because I never break the rues on here, but I really don't get it. I've never seen any mods do anything particularly wrong. Only one time have I genuinely disagreed with a decision, and it was one where we all disagreed about the decision (the picture thread where we were having a good time making fun of each other, gatsby made it).

Other then that I just don't get it, and maybe it has to do with the fact I don't read the majority of threads or really delve deep into it. Also not being heavily involved probably plays a factor. But other then that you guys seem to ignore the fact that this shit is much better then b.net and waypoint. You guys seem to blow up over small decisions when a lot of you have been banned for dumb ass reasons on other sites.

The bans I've seen and heard about on this site all had a reasonable side to it. It wasn't something where you could be like I have no idea how this happened, it's usually something that either had it coming or something that was pretty far in the grey.

For all the shit you guys say about the site and how it's run, it really doesn't add up. We're assholes to each other, some a hell of a lot more then others, but your allowed to do that. You don't get banned for banter or even saying some borderline sketchy shit. If you get banned you probably deserved it, if something gets locked it probably is the best choice.

Just how I see things

Yep. It was posted in Serious, LC moved it to here, and now its on fire. Like... legit on fire, probably because OP is being legit. I don't even think a troll can be this stupid.

I'll give it a read. Just try not to get heated over people being bigots. And if it's a troll your just feeding them. It's best to just ignore when someone is ridiculous.

1134

Some people from another forum made a copypasta bait thread and filled it copypasta responses.

Deci wanted it locked, but racism isn't actually against the rules and bait threads are moved from serious to the flood + possible lock depending on the content.

Trolling and poorly informed opinions abound in the racist black thread.

et cetera et cetera

Guess I should give that thread a read, odd that extreme racism is fine though. Then again I'm assuming it's extreme racism.
