I got bored and zoned out once he started blabbering about how the new series needed more comedy.
Can someone try to sum it up, because I didn't care for TCW and don't think this new thing would be worth any time?

Again, it really isn't a small group. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Jihadists, Islamists and Conservative Muslims made up over half of the Muslim population. As I already noted to Icy, over half of British Muslims are perfectly happy with the suppression of free speech to protect their religious sensibilities. Just take a minute to consider what an intellectual offensive idea that is to liberalism. Well, we can't really declare what the size of the groups are w/o a proper study. So, what each of us says is the minority is null at that point. Considering that the vast majority of Muslims still live in the Middle East, where all these problems are occurring, that shouldn't be too noteworthy. Outside influence isn't quite popular there, as I understand it. That seems like it might be out of proper context. To what degree, in what field, and what was the issue that resulted in that figure being recorded about? I don't disagree, the point is that religion is the thing which produces this inability - or unwillingness - to think critically in the first place. I'm not saying we're born as logical positivists, but the presence of faith or any sort can cloud a person's judgement regardless of their "education". Yeah, I think your point would be inaccurate. If someone doesn't know any better about something, then the answer is not definitively "religion is to blame". Ignorance, not knowing how or what to think, not learning or being taught how to, is basic in Humans when confronted with a new or complex situation. I really do not see how you got the idea that religious beliefs cause this. Maybe I'm misunderstanding. If you want me to illustrate this point, just consider the difference between Jainism and Islam. If you need any convincing at all that doctrine is a massive motivator of behaviour - when other variables are controlled for - just consider for a minute the likelihood of violence among Jains and Muslims respectively, and you should reach the conclusion that the results will differ wildly. Yeah, they're from different regions, different groups of people that had different reactions with other groups, and their ages differ greatly. Of course they will be different. If you don't want to think about religion spiritually, think about it as the byproduct of the culture and time it arose from. The following generations are taught their culture's history, beliefs, and customs through their religion. Yes, that will affect how they act and think, because that's the place where they came from. But again, I don't see how that shows ignorance and lack of skill in comprehension result from religion. The Jains are peaceful, the Muslims are not, each has different cultural expectations they seek to remain adhered to. Many of the Muslims may stick to the old beliefs, because maybe to them Western culture is more synonymous with air strikes than free-thinking and democracy?

Are you really implying it is wrong to be of the belief that the terrorists/extremists have other motives for their actions than their interpretation of the Qur'an?
Not at all; I'm a big admirer of Durkheim when it comes to sociology.
To brush their doctrine off as inconsequential, however, as Jonathan Haidt can sometimes do, is nothing short of stupidity. Are you honestly going to tell me that a person's belief is not the biggest proximate cause of their action?
Do you mean a person's Religious/Spiritual belief being the biggest cause of their action? While it is indeed a factor that can have the biggest sway in how someone acts, I don't see how one draws the conclusion that 'Islam'(in this case) is inherently bad, because a small group of those Muslims utilize that belief in a way that causes harm to others. Likely the reason that group acts that way is because they are pressured by the current, and long history of conflict in the region, they are not well educated, and are swayed easily because their lack of education makes it easier for them to not think critically about what they're told. Like the Church did in the times of the Crusades, when most people couldn't read and only priests would ever be able to get their hands on a Bible, when the common people don't know that much but believe in the same religion it can be easy to sway them to do what you want. Say things that are in the religious text, but contort them to fit the agenda you're pushing, then when the people don't know any better they may follow you thinking they're doing what's right in God's name, but in fact just doing what you want them to. There was nothing preached in the Gospels that supported vicious war and claiming the 'Holy Land', but nobody knew better, so the Church gained land and wealth when they succeeded, and access to trade too I'd guess.

I don't see why one would blame the religion itself for these problems.
You're getting dangerously close to implying that the reason these "radicals" behave the way they do isn't because of their faith.
Are you really implying it is wrong to be of the belief that the terrorists/extremists have other motives for their actions than their interpretation of the Qur'an?

I've never read the Qur'an, so I never know what to make of these things. Yet, the Muslims I've met have been nice and never gave me trouble, so I don't see why one would blame the religion itself for these problems. Like with Christianity, you can't accurately blame the Crusades purely on the religion, there were a lot of other factors there.

I'll post the pics I have uploaded from the last thread, so I can conquer this one too. Although I have a bunch of Bionicles, most of them were taken apart due to me being a child and wanting to make various amalgamations out of them. RIP in peace Bohrok, wherever your pieces may lie.(Although I still think the Halloween/theme colored ones are cool, same with Silver Rahkshi)
Wow, somebody who had almost as much stuff as me
There's still more that I didn't want to photograph, because most of the Bionicles are in pieces and the other stuff is either also in pieces or buried under crates somewhere. Having parents with plenty of money to spend on their kids was quite helpful in amassing so many toys that despite having a dresser, chest, and various boxes/containers full of them, around 20 plastic bins had to be moved to the basements to store them. No, I cannot recall how they were stored up in my room at that time, but I do remember placing stuffed animals around all sides of my bed, b/c there was no other way to fit them.

I think the problems I have with the H2A Elites vs the old ones are: 1. The skin. Not quite sure if it's the texture too, but the color doesn't look right, seems a bit too light.
2. Their mouths, mostly the teeth. Foremost, how their teeth seem bent and uncared for bothers me, it makes them look like hill billies; is this really the extent of the Covenant's technology when it comes to the field of Dentistry? While it looks like 343i improved the positioning of the upper mandibles so they aren't biting themselves in the face, it still kinda looks like Thel's chomping his own gums/grinding his teeth in that picture. Seems like an improvement, but still looks problematic from a realistic POV. Now, here's where there really seems to be a concern regarding the mandibles actually being useful. It looks like each mandible is packed with 50-some pointed teeth, which effectively means they can't be used for chewing as a meat-eating animal. Why? Same reason why a bed of nails actually doesn't hurt to lay down on, surface area; with whatever the Elite is eating being spread out in SA along the teeth lining the mandibles, the teeth cannot really cut or slice that efficiently. They'd seem about as effective as molars, and all they could seem to be used for is pushing the food into their throat-hole.
There might be something else, but that's just what I can tell right now.

Everytime I've eaten anything from McDonald's I've gotten diarrhea. My friends in grade school used to refer to the situation as McDiarrhea.

It's getting hot again here in Oz... 37 degrees yesterday. Now it'll take me all summer to adjust to the heat, but by then it will be getting colder again, and I'll have to spend all winter adjusting to the cold, but by then it will be summer.
You live in the land of Oz? Why is 37 degrees hot there? Did a wizard do that?
What's hot where you are?
When I start sweating.
I'm pretty sure you'd sweat on the first 37 degree day of the year.
That's impressive to sweat like that anywhere below 40.
Are you thinking in american measurements?
Are you implying there's anything other than America in the world?

Shhhhhhhhhhh
I'm not done with my costume yetttttttttttt
People still do that Halloween thing?
.........
It's a national holiday.
Yeah, I just didn't know anyone actually did it anymore. There were like 5 kids last year IIRC, and nobody likes putting up decorations anymore. And by nobody, I mean me, because nobody else did anything.
I hate society these days...
What if I told you that when the blacks come here from downtown Detroit to try and trick-or-treat, that almost all lights go off on the blocks? That any better?

Back in middle school and high school, I had a very large Star Wars collection. I had everything sorted on shelved based on faction, and had numerous rare figures still in the packaging hanging on the walls around my room. I had a lot of the older Kenner stuff and the newer stuff. I sold it all for around $1800 my junior year because I knew I would be moving out soon and had nowhere to store it all.
Edit: Some of the stuff I had (all action figure scaled stuff) Galactic Republic Original Republic Gunship from AoTC Republic Gunship with black marking from 2003 Clone Wars AT-TE AT-PT Turbo Tank Around 150 various clones, along with most of the available commanders Various stuff like wookie warriors, senators, and most of the available Jedi figures
Galactic Empire Old 1990s AT-AT Old AT-ST and the new AT-ST TIE Advanced, TIE Bomber, TIE Fighter, TIE Interceptor Around 50 stormtroopers (different variants, plain, snowtrooper, scout trooper, sandtrooper, etc.), 15 TIE pilots, a couple AT-AT commanders Multiple Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine figures, along with the Episode IV set of the officers I also had all of the bounty hunters from Episode V
Rebel Alliance Old and new X-Wing A-Wing Y-Wing Multiple variations of pilots, and numerous astromech and protocol droids Different variations of Han, Luke, and other characters 1990s Millenium Falcon Lots of other stuff I am trying to remember
Separatists Two AATs Hailfire Droid Large and small Tri-Droids Homing and Dwarf Spider Droids the Geonosian Arena set, along with the Reek, Acklay, and Nexu, and different Geonosians Dooku, Grievous, Palpatine, Anakin as Vader, the available Separatist leaders such as Gunray Numerous Battle droids figures, including B2s and Droidekas. Four STAPs
I also had a ton of other various stuff that did not really fit in with those four, such as creatures from Jabba's palace (never had the Rancor unfortunately), Dash Rendar's Outrider, and lots of other stuff.
Rancor is pleased.

That's one of 343i's updates. They didn't want lesser-skilled players to feel inadequate by not being able to get certain achievements.
So they just gave them to everyone? wtf...
