The Flood / Re: So, uh, bad night I guess
« on: October 26, 2014, 12:33:10 AM »
It's just an animal, who cares?

It's not the animal. It's the life.

You know what life is, right? It's an experience. It's a gift. You should care. Because for all you know, your time here is all you have. I appreciate life, because I've seen it taken. I've almost had it ripped from me, more than once. And now, I've taken it.

Your body fights infections, fights pain, pushes you to seek safety when you are hurt. Why? Because it wants to survive. It wants to cling to life for as long as it can. And that means, that if your body fights so hard to cling to life, to keep you going, then you should care.

You should care, about any life you take. It doesn't matter how small or big. I'm not saying killing can be avoided. Fuck sakes, that's the reason I made this thread. But you should understand when you kill something, that you've taken something you can never give back. And you should be respectful, and thankful for that sacrifice.

Tell me, you have a dog? A cat?

Yeah. Animals don't die easy. Reminds me of the time I killed a Raccoon with a pellet gun. That sucker could have just run away but he backed himself in a tree and just let me unload on him. Took a few dozen shots to. When he finally fell out I choked him out with a rake handle, pinned him in the dirt till he gave in.

All you are doing is making yourself sound psychotic.
Just stop, this isn't the time for that.

A Raccoon is a pest. Its ok to kill it. Just like a rat. If it was smart it wouldnt venture into my yard, just like a deer shouldnt wander onto a road. That nature, survival of the fittest in action.

Deer don't know what roads are -_-

Then they can go extinct then.
Yeah, same with Cockroaches, Ants, Spiders, Centipedes, Mosquitoes, etc. Oh wait. That's right, shit doesn't work like that.

If I see any pest in my house, I will kill them. If they arent in my house or if they aren't anywhere where I can see them, then I don't have to kill them. Its simple.
Yeah, you can kill them, but they aren't going to go extinct because of your edge.

As for Sharon, I believe it is referring to Solomon's Bride in the book "Song of Solomon".
she calls herself "The Rose of Sharon", indicating beauty and splendor.........or something like that.
Ah. I never read the love letters book.

Wow. That moment were the ads on Xbox are actually getting better than the games.

This is a sad year.

I think I might quit playing new video games and just stick to older titles only and go retro.
I think the newest game I bought was AC4. Still waiting for something good, was hoping for Destiny, MCC looks ok but I don't want to shell out $460 for one game, and Idk what else to look forward to now.

As for the Branch, the Olive Branch was a symbol of peace in those days.

He has also been called "The vine"

John 15:5
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Some of these names come from Parables Jesus taught.
So, how is he the branch and the vine? People didn't think those would be conflicting with that parable?

Do you know who the hell Sharon is, by chance?

The Flood / Re: Should Darth Maul have been in RoTS instead of Grievous?
« on: October 25, 2014, 10:51:55 PM »
Only real problem is that Kenobi cut Maul in half, and then Maul's remains fell into the core of a reactor system. It could've been interesting, but with how Episode I ended there was no possible way. Had Maul turned around and walked away after knocking Kenobi into the pit, it could've happened, but even that seems against Maul's character.
If Anakin can suffer 3rd degree burns all over his body, and two limbs being cut off then Maul could have easily survived his wounds. He wouldn't have bled out because the heat from the lightsaber would have cauterized the wounds instantly

But read up on this as a possible concept of how he could have survived
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_Maul
It sounds like the authors tried their hardest to come up with any possible way to bring Maul back for the sake of reusing his character in their show. Probably because that's what they were doing.

He got cut in half just above the waist, so no working Kidneys, Intestines aren't gonna be functional, among the no-doubt other biological issues with being cut in half. And with no medical treatment to help him, and being stuck in a reactor's core(because wtf would an air vent be doing in that shaft? The top would be an air vent if anything would.) I really just don't see the whole living thing.

Anakin surviving having his arms & legs amputated and getting 3rd degree burns? Yeah, you can live without arms and legs, not having those does not equal death; same with the burns. Anakin got high quality medical treatment pretty quickly, along with being able to keep himself alive as he's the Chosen One.

1) It's a space Opera. Get over it.
2) It's Star Wars, get over it.
3) The force can be used to sustain life even after heavy loss of internal organs. The darkside of the force exceeds at that.
4) General grievous is a brain and some intestines, and you're arguing that Maul couldn't survive being cut in half?
1) It's MY OPINION on a space opera. It seems like you, sir, are the one that needs to get over it.
2) Really, wtf is wrong with you?
3) Yes, it can help keep one alive for longer with massive injuries, or heal someone that's been hurt substantially, however it doesn't(or wasn't) something that allowed one to negate missing +50% of their body and continue to live indefinitely like nothing is wrong.
4) Grievous had someone that was willing to do anything possible to keep him alive. Yes, they medical technology in Star Wars is really impressive and amazing, but it only helps if you can get access to it. There isn't great access at the bottom of a reactor.

The Flood / Re: Should Darth Maul have been in RoTS instead of Grievous?
« on: October 25, 2014, 10:46:10 PM »
You're forgetting this is the SW universe, where medical advancements like bacta tanks and fully-functional robotic limbs are present. Maul could have very easily gotten medical attention, given lab-grown organs, etc., etc.

Don't forget that Anakin survived because the dark side was in full consumption of him. The amount of anger and hate Maul possessed, along with the dark side, would give Maul the ability to stay alive
If anyone nearby knew where he was or cared to help him, then yes he could've been fine, but nobody was.

Anakin survived through the force, and Palpatine coming to help him. If Palpatine hadn't come to his aid, Anakin would've been dead, easily. This is why it's not easy to believe it for Maul. Maul didn't have anyone coming to help him, not to mention he fell down a freaking reactor's core, it's like falling into a furnace or something at a refinery or power plant, you're not coming out.

Shut up, that abomination of a series never existed.

Unfortunately for you, it did. And it's just as canon as the movies. Get used to it other words you will not like the future of Star Wars at all.
No. Fuck you, tomorrow I'll wake up and realize this was all a bad dream because there'll be  a copy of Imperial Commando 2 on my table.
Those were my exact words as soon as I started reading his comment.

Thank you.

300 years ago science thought the world was 50,000 years old and today they say it's 3.5 billion years old. Science thinks the world ages 70,000 years every year.

300 years ago they thought leaches cured diseases. 200 years ago they treated gunshot wounds with amputation. Less than a hundred years ago they treated ADD with a lobotomy.

In a couple hundred years science will probably think our medical practices were barbaric and inhumane.

Science doesn't know shit as well as fedoras like you think it does. I know because I used to be a fedora. I thought I knew everything.

Variable of the electrical impulses could be between what neurons they fire, and when they fire a new memory could be encoded onto a neuron(or group of them) by the characteristics of the impulse(or maybe even a series of impulses) that connects to it. How what would be "engraved" into the neuron could be 'read', idk. Don't we have people that study this for a living, why haven't they gotten anywhere yet?
