It's two huge logical jumps to assume that 1) aliens would be more advanced than us, and 2) that traveling long distances of space, such as with light speed or another means, is even possible. Among others.
I don't think so.
Provide reason or your idea is trash.
Your inability to understand the difference between 13 billion and 200,000 is showing.
1. Life likely only existed during a fraction of that timeframe. 2. You have yet to demonstrate reason as to why anyone would choose to cover that tremendous distance. 3. Human life has been evident from space for the tinniest fraction of time, an advanced race would have to first wait for our light to reach them, and then they'd have to make the long journey to us, in which time we could very well be dead, making their journey useless.
1. assumptions 2. assumptions about what reason a species would do things for 3. assuming that the species would not have a means of detecting things beyond light speed, that they can't travel beyond it, or that this is the only dimension/plane of existence accessible and that they choose to stay in it. This debate is entirely assumptions.

There's no reason to assert that if they existed they would choose to visit us even, they could very easily just choose to ignore us. What you are positing has zero basis and zero significance. Even if they could travel at light speed, it would take a tremendous amount of time to reach us. 13 billion years is a little more than a tremendous amount of time, bucko.
Nothing you're saying is convincing me that aliens exist, and you never will. Go cry now. I'm getting bored of this.
This 13 billion years line is approaching meme status. You have no reason to assume they would've been around that long or that we aren't the first to reach this evolutionary stage.

Also assuming that aliens have existed for 13 billion years and it's not a recent development in the universe, or just this galaxy.

Gun violence is caused by guns. More specifically, the glorification of these tools as part of the very prevalent American gun culture, their extreme availability to the general public and the extraordinarily high rates of private gun ownership. So, since you say that none of those single factors are responsible for gun violence, wouldn't it make more sense that a variety of factors are responsible for the violence and the gun is just used to express it? I really don't see how guns being a prominent part of the country's culture is to blame for the violence, how could the gun be the root of the problem?

Somewhere between this N = 7 × 1 × 0.2 × 0.13 × 1 × 0.2 × 109 = 36.4 million and only us.

I would've said the same thing if he was straight. Having a sexual relationship with a coworker, let alone a higher-up, is fucking retarded and could jeopardize one's career.
So how is it immoral?
Creates potential conflicts of interests. Or the partner in the relationship with the higher position at work might use their authority at work to coerce the other partner into doing things they might not want to or could be harmful. Power can corrupt people, so it would be safe to avoid that.

spartans are human soldiers not superheroes
I've been over this already.
Spartans are superheroes. They always have been.
hmm well that mountain scene is still very avengers-esque
I agree. Nothing wrong with it or anything that Osiris did during it though.
tmw Halo is actually becoming this and people are defending it
god you're such a moron
Your impervious logical argument is too great for me to oppose, truly I concede.
You actually are, though.
You over exaggerate everything, pull shit out of your arse, and cry about everything.
Your posts are basically "DAE bungie are gods 343 are le hitler".
But I concede that bungie fucked up a lot of things, they're nowhere close to gods. They did plenty of good things, but generally got worse over time. 343i have done good things and cleared things up for people that wank it to the canon that couldn't understand not explaining things you don't need to know as the character isn't some cardinal sin of story-telling. It's just that my interest in the gameplay of the franchise has declined since Reach, and 343i's management of it has left much to be desired. Misinterpreting my position because you do not know my thoughts doesn't make me a moron, nor does it make you right. As for calling out over-exaggerations, you really aren't one to speak on that, you're just as guilty as I may be. True, this comment I'm replying to might be largely ignorance, but I feel like what I've said is restating previous comments in this community, so to some degree it is a case of your own over-exaggeration.

This is one of those things that I don't have any personal experience with, but from talking to and living with people that did, I can't think cutting is something that's a great choice in the long run. When talking to a friend that suffered from depression at the time they told me it really helped them cope with the pain by letting it out. Yet over the years since I can't recall them ever recalling it in a positive way.
For my sister, it sure as hell never seemed to help her, or if it did it was so momentary that it seems negligible to mention. Doesn't help that half of the time she seemed to use it as a method to try to guilt others for her own inabilities and problems.
So, assuming it has no other connotations and is only for releasing pent-up emotions and psychological pain, still no. I don't believe there's a realistic scenario where a better alternative is not available.

I'd argue that you do, slowly piece by piece you change to a new person over time. I think 10 year old me has a significant difference in thinking and belief compared to me now to make it a false statement to say we would be the same. Well, that is just a little bit too silly for me.
We can mature, we can change, we can develop--but whatever consciousness is there, whoever you identify as, that's you, and that's who you'll remain to be.
I am Jacob Potila today, and if I switched bodies, I would STILL be Jacob Potila.
But what defines Jacob Potila? I find it doubtful that it has always been the exact same things. You can identify with a name for it can be something that won't change for you, sure. What defines your identity is fluid, so I find it odd to think of your identity as something solid.

When someone that loses an arm dreams they still have that arm in their dreams, it has a place in their brain even after it is gone. Your body and brain are connected to each other, while you could theoretically transfer brains between bodies, I cannot imagine it being a most pleasant ordeal, or that you would ever dream or identify with anything other than your original body in your subconscious. When I was in Europe for three weeks, part of the procedure was for me to wear a lanyard with my name on it the entire time. We were advised to never take it off so that we'd never lose it, so I never took it off once.
When I got home, even when I first took it off, I still felt like I had it on.
So what? That doesn't mean I'm "connected" to my lanyard--that's just how memory works.
Whether or not the switch would be a pleasant experience doesn't have to do with anything--it wouldn't change you as a person, is my ultimate point. As far as it not being "you" anymore. Sure, being in a fat person's body might teach you a little something about being fat.
But learning things doesn't make you a different person--it makes you a smarter, more experienced person. But not a different person. That's just plain silly.
I think there's a difference between remembering some object that you keep near you and the brain's region that is connected to certain parts of your body. This isn't just something defined by the brain's memory.

I don't agree that our bodies are part of us. Our bodies are nothing. You could have a different body, and you'd still be the same person. You could have no body, and you'd still be the same person.
You aren't a different person if you wear a different shirt.
If I had a different body, I'd be taller or shorter; fatter or skinnier (initially); my hands would change, my feet would change, a lot of things would change. These things make a difference psychologically, as in what your body is like (or your perception of it, at least) influences things like your self-esteem and thereby your lifestyle habits.
I would not be me if I had a different body, it's a simple as that.
You would have a reaction on your new body, certainly.
I fail to see how that isn't your own reaction, and not some new individual's.
Do you become a different person every time your brain chemistry changes as a result of all stimuli? If not, why should a change in body be any different?
I'd argue that you do, slowly piece by piece you change to a new person over time. I think 10 year old me has a significant difference in thinking and belief compared to me now to make it a false statement to say we would be the same.

you can't switch bodies like you can switch shirts, though.
WHOOSH
If you could switch bodies like you can switch shirts, your point would have more merit, but you're stuck with your body, it is a part of you, subconsciously this is fact.
The point is that if we could change our bodies, it wouldn't make a lick of difference in terms of our personalities.
That's because personality, the self, the thing you call "I", isn't anatomical.
I've understood that from the time I first replied to you, apologizes if it wasn't obvious enough in my last post.

I can't play for more than two rounds in one sitting. The balance is awful, the spawn killing worse, and with the wonky aiming on top of all that, I get annoyed with it and can't enjoy it.
Really, the turret and AT-AT aiming is waaaay too sensitive with a mouse, but lowering the sensitivity makes flying really stiff. On the ground, Y-Axis with gamepad is a lot speedier than X-Axis, so that throws me off, too. I don't like having to fight the controls just to aim competently.
Has the PC community really not figured out how to win as the rebels yet? It's gotten to the point where I actually kind of enjoy playing as the rebels more due to what feels like an uphill race against time to win.
Majority of players always tends to be bullet magnets that run around without much of a clue what they should be doing. It's kinda inevitable.

This game, man
pretty much my main problems with the game >.>
And that the DLT-90 and Jetpack are clearly superior to most of the other loadout options.
Jetpack, yes. However, I have yet to understand what's so good about the DLT, although I always get killed by it. Really, all the guns can kill in a second or less.

To deal with the abundance of IED's in your county, of course.
